JOB # 5

I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO NAME THIS CHAPTER BUT I'M BACK BITCHES.

"I still don't...understand..." I muttered, staring at the small freak turtle on the table in front of me.

"What do you mean?"

"Like, it just doesn't make sense."

"How so?"

I sighed, feeling very annoyed at the blonde man in front of me. I swear he was playing dumb.

Aha! Get it. Dumb blonde.

Well...I'm also blonde, so maybe I shouldn't say that.

"How is it physically possible that Godzilla can do that?" I asked.

Dino laughed at the name I gave his mutant pet. "Godzilla?"

I looked at him with a straight face. "It's very befitting," I said flatly. I then moved my gaze back over to the now little green monster, that was just casually chilling on the kitchen table, acting like he didn't just wreck the shit out of the garden.

"Water makes him grow big," Dino concluded, finally answering me.

"But how is that possible!"

Dino shrugged.

This totally ruined the love I previously had for turtles.

When I was five, I found a turtle at a lake my dad and I often went fishing at. I thought the little guy was a rock, so I picked it up and was about to throw it in the water, when I felt it move in my hand. I immediately looked down at my right hand and inspected the 'moving rock'. When I saw that it was actually a turtle, I yelled for my dad, and asked him if I could take it home with us.

But my dad said it already had a home, and that it was the lake. With tears and snot running down my face, I let little Geoffrey go, and ran back to my house without looking back.

I met my very first friend that day, and unfortunately, I had to set him free, back into the wild.

And now this other guy shows up, acting like he owns the place!

'I don't think so!' I yelled in my head, internally snapping my fingers like a sassy black woman.

"He's no Geoffrey," I declared, crossing my arms.

Dino blinked. "Geoffrey?" He then studied my expression and my body movements, and nodded in realization. "You had a turtle?" he asked, looking at me with an amused expression.

"Maybe."

At that, the Cavallone grinned, and then looked at the clock above the refrigerator. "Excuse me, Whitney, but I'm afraid I will have to take my leave now. If I'm late, Kyoya will throw a hissy fit."

Recognizing the name, I thought back to my conversation with Yamamoto on my first day.

Kyoya, Kyoya, Kyoya...

I know that Yamamoto mentioned him while he was walking me to Reborn's interrogation room, but I couldn't remember a single thing the baseball lover said about him.

The sound of a door opening caught my attention.

I looked over at the blonde man holding the golden knob, who had a suspicious glint in his eyes.

"Whitney," Dino called out to me in a husky voice.

What the?

He stared at me with his dazzling brown eyes, and moved a few of his blonde locks out of his face.

"Can you do me a favor?" he asked, giving me a look some girls would kill me for.

Why did I suddenly want to drool over him? My drool is only for Mr. Sexy Man.

"What is it?" I asked, trying to internally build a wall to protect myself from his charms.

He leaned against the door frame with his...very capable arms-wait where is this coming from? He's seducing me!

Dino gave me an alluring smile and flipped his beautiful fair hair. He certainly looked like every girl's prince charming. All he needed was a white horse and he'd be the epitome of a knight in shining armor.

"Can you watch Enzo for me today?"

That was when I snapped out of it.

"No offense, but I don't want to be around your transforming, freak, mutant, possibly a ninja, turtle-"

And he was gone.

The 'knight in shining white armor' was gone.

Pity.

I stared at Godzilla, who somehow managed to flip on his shell, rendering him stuck like that. What was I supposed to do? Gloria wanted me to work in the kitchen today. With all of the liquids there, Godzilla would just mutate again.

Unless...If I put him in a bag...

And then he would suffocate and die, so maybe that's a bad plan...

What do turtles usually stay in at homes-oh! A tank! I need a tank.

I glanced around the unfamiliar room I was in; it had a table, a book shelf, a T.V., and several couches. In short, it was pretty much a small living room. But I wasn't going to find what I needed here. I sighed, knowing this was going to be a hike, literally. I still haven't even seen eighty percent of the mansion. To be fair, even if I did, I'd still get lost.

Well, that settles that, I'll just find someone who can help me.

But first, I had to do something about the crazy ass mutating turtle.

Walking over the to the book shelf, I picked up several big work books and placed them around Godzilla like a gate for young puppies.

Once I was sure he wouldn't be able to escape from his mock cage of books, I pulled out a map of the mansion Viviana gave me and started on my way.

Over the years that Spanner had been affiliated with the Vongola, he had many strange requests from his employers.

He remembered how Gokudera asked if he could make him steel dynamite that had spikes lining on the side of it. He disagreed to it, seeing as how Gokudera didn't take into account that the spikes would prick his hands and other parts of his body, seeing as how he hides his weapons under his clothes.

After watching The Wolverine, Yamamoto had asked him to build a gigantic sword made out of adamantium. The problem-adamantium is a fictional metal used in Marvel Comics. Yamamoto looked very disappointed by that little detail, so Spanner made him a mechanical baseball bat that had a flamethrower in it. Random? Maybe. Did it make him the happy-go-lucky guy he usually was? Yes.

Even Vongola's ruthless cloud guardian came to him, well okay, his 'henchman' Kusakabe did. He asked him if he could make a suit of armor for Hibird. Apparently, Hibari wanted to make sure his beloved bird was protected at all times. Spanner actually accepted his request, because he thought it was refreshing that Hibari actually cared about something, even if it was just a bird. Unfortunately, the armor was too heavy for Hibird and in the process of testing the armor out, it almost crushed him.

The very next day Spanner received a package. When he opened it up, he wasn't surprised to see the suit he made for Hibird smashed into little pieces, much like his heart at that moment since he worked very hard to make it. Under the pieces was a note that expressed Hibari's greatest apologizes to him. "Fix it," it read. And Spanner could only rub his temple, and proceeded to get back to work on it.

All of this was about a month ago, when Spanner thought it would be interesting if he put a request box outside of his work lab if anyone for the Vongola wanted something to be fixed or built. It was entertaining, and it gave him something to do in his spare time. Even though the requests made by the Guardians were weird and somewhat, as Ryohei would say, extreme, he found that he had improved his technique over a short period of time in the art of mechanics.

And now, he was in his lab, sitting at a small table across from the american girl, who he had no doubt in his mind would ask for something similar.

After all, birds of a feather flock together.

Thinking that her request was going to be insane like the countless other ones had been, he pulled a note pad out from his pocket, and prepared to write down his latest project.

"Do you think you can build me a tank?"

Ah, there it was, Spanner mused. For what she wanted a tank for, he did not know, and wasn't going to ask. He hoped the young Vongola wouldn't get mad at him. He was simply doing his job.

"Do you want the design to be modern?" He asked, looking at her expectantly.

Whitney, in turn, shrugged. "I guess-I mean, I didn't know there were different versions of them.." She trailed off, furrowing her brow.

"There are many," Spanner said, jotting some details down in his notes, "What kind of armor do you have in mind?"

"Uh," Whitney bit her lip, "I guess it does need armor since that thing is pretty destructive," she muttered, looking quite disturbed. "I don't really know that much about this kind of stuff, so you can do whatever you want with it, as long as there isn't any liquids in it."

Spanner raised a brow at that, but decided not to comment on it. "Alright," he concluded, pulling a wrapped lollipop out of his pocket. "Do you want to see a sketch of it-"

The sound of a door opening cut him off.

"Whitney!" Viviana walked hastily into the room. "There you are!" The black haired beauty grabbed her hand and pulled her up from her sitting position.

"What's wrong?" the blonde girl questioned, knowing that she was forgetting something.

"We're late! We were supposed to be in the kitchen thirty minutes ago!" Viviana tugged Whitney's arm and started leading her out the door.

Realization dawned on the american's face. "Gloria."

Having his own encounter with the feared head maid, Spanner understood their pains all too well.

Gloria, along with the other maids and butlers, do their daily duties around the mansion and clean every room, and every thing that has even the smallest speck of dust on it. Now imagine how Gloria reacted whenever she came across Spanner's lab; tools, robots, and other mechanical messes that cause regular occurrences of mayhem on a daily basis.

It wasn't a pretty sight.

So he settled with, "Good luck," in response to the american girl.

Panic was evident on Whitney's face at Spanner's blunt reply.

Viviana then bolted out of his lab, dragging the unmoving blonde behind her.

And then Spanner reviewed his notes, and got to work on her request.

************************insert break line right here bcuz it won't show up for some reason -_-**********************

Even though it had been ten years, the reserved boss of the Vongola found that he could never get used to the meetings he had with the Varia. The sad fact of this, was that it wasn't even in person, it was on a video session. They were miles apart, but Squalo's yelling always made it feel as if he was a millimeter away from you, screaming in your ear. Squalo and Belphegor were the only ones who ever bothered to show up to them, though Fran occasionally makes an appearance from time to time just to get stabbed by the violent blonde Prince.

Sighing, Tsunayoshi pulled his phone out of his blazer's pocket to take his mind off of the previous events and paperwork he had worked on all day. Deciding to go on Facebook, he let himself relax and felt his mind drift off while scrolling through the social media website.

Ah, Tsuna stopped on a picture Enma posted of him holding a puppy, I guess Enma really isn't afraid of dogs anymore.

And then a certain post by a particular guardian caught his eye.

"What the-?" Tsuna muttered, staring at his news feed. Tapping on the screen, he zoomed in to get a better look at the photos, while his jaw almost dropped in the process.

Gokudera had 'sniped' (as today's youth puts it) random photos of him. Some of them were while he was eating, others were of him doing daily tasks. However, one of the photos in particular really stuck out to him. It was a picture of him sitting at his desk, with one hand supporting his sleeping head.

The caption under it read, "Caught bae sleeping! #thatvongolalyfe."

Tsuna sighed once more, disturbed that Gokudera took pictures of him without his knowledge, and that he still did not understand the use of hash tags. He even had to do a double take at his screen when he saw that Mukuro had commented on it.

"Your obsession makes my stomach twist with disgust," it read.

Sounds just like him, Tsuna thought.

But since when did Mukuro have a Facebook?

Or held an interest in social media at all?

"Excuse me, Mr. Sawada!"

Tsuna looked up from his phone and saw Viviana running towards him at the other end of the hall.

The regal Vongola boss swiftly slipped his cell phone back into his pinstripe suit pants, and then noticed a flash of blonde behind Viviana. Upon recognizing that it was Whitney, he stopped in his tracks, and looked quite concerned at the two women.

"Has something happened?" Tsunayoshi asked them with an air of tranquility, but if conflict arose, he was ready for battle if needed be.

The two women, however, did not stop their movements and swiftly ran past their boss. The latter merely shook his head, mentally stating that this was simply another normal occurrence at the Vongola Headquarters.

Tsunayoshi started in the opposite direction of his maids and pulled out his phone once more. He then went back on the social media website, further investigating Gokudera's page for any more posts about himself.

Upon reaching the familiar grande blue doors to the kitchen, Viviana and I looked at each other hesitantly before we proceeded inside. After taking one step into the room, a delicious aroma of Italian foods seeped into my nose, making my mouth water with anticipation.

Noticing my expression, Viviana nudged me in the arm and laughed, "Remember, this food isn't you, it's for the Guardians."

My stomach growled in retaliation at her words. "Of course," I said weakly in reply, patting my stomach as a useless attempt to calm it down.

Viviana shot me a knowing smile and motioned toward the small group of cooks ahead of us. "Let's go see if they have anything for us to eat."

Viviana and I stopped near a counter where she introduced me to a few of the chefs, all of who, could only speak in broken English. Though it was a bit difficult to understand them, their good-natured smiles and the joyous tone their words held was more than I was expecting. They gave me a sense of relief, to know that they seemed to accept me whole-heartedly despite how different we were.

The black-haired beauty then led me over to a younger man who was haunched over beside the counter, looking through a recipe book. The brown-haired male seemed to be closer to my age than the others who worked here were. And despite the concentration that was evident on his face, the air around him felt very pleasant, though we had never met before.

As we neared toward him, he looked up from his readings and greeted us with an amiable grin.

"You're late, Viv," he laughed, putting a hand on her shoulder as he did so.

Said woman merely sighed at this, flicked his arm in retaliation. "I know," she replied meekly.

The brown-haired male let out another laugh at her antics and then turned to face me fully. He extended his hand out and gave me a friendly smile.

"My name is Fuuta, it's a pleasure to meet you," he greeted politely.

I took his hand and nodded, "I'm Whitney, I hope we can get along well together-" I stopped my sentence abruptly when I found myself staring into his warm brown eyes. What captured my attention was how they looked very similar to Mr. Sexy Man's eyes. Both were almost the same color and were genial all the same, but Mr. Sexy Man's eyes had clearly seen more rougher days than him.

Fuuta's orbs then held a look of concern in them.

"Whitney?" he asked, tilting his head.

Blushing, I quickly retracted my hand and bowed my head slightly. "Please excuse me," I muttered, embarrassment written all over my face.

Why does this always happen to me?

Fuuta smiled. "It's quite all right, Tsuna-nii informed me that you space out a bit at times."

"R-Really?" I stuttered out, blushing even more.

Well this was great, Whitney. Your boss has been telling the people who you're going to be working with that you're weird.

Great.

He put a hand on my shoulder. "Don't think much about it," Fuuta said, giving me a wink, "I think he's a little interested in you."

If you thought I was blushing before, you should've seen what I looked like now. Of course, I didn't know what I looked like at the moment, but you know that if you can feel the blush, it's pretty bad. So lets just say that I looked like I wasn't breathing at all and was clearly having a mental seizure.

Trying to blink away the blatant redness on my face, I straightened my posture and ran a hand through my hair, trying to look indifferent. "Really?" I bit out, rather forcefully than I had intended.

Viviana grinned. "Don't get too excited," she giggled, "You just met him like a week ago."

My feelings of happiness and my heart full of hope felt as if they were being ripped in half, bringing me back to reality.

I frowned.

She was right. I only met him a short while ago, and I was ashamed to admit that I liked him because he was attractive. Sure, I had talked to him a little, but I didn't actually know him. He was really nice and mature, and well, a man. But, to only like him for those things was superficial and not genuine at all.

Ick.

I felt rather disgusted with myself.

Fuuta gave me a knowing look, as if he was reading my mind. "Don't feel bad. There is nothing wrong with having a crush on your boss," he said almost mockingly.

His words brought the redness back to my face, though not as severe as before.

"It's not a crush," I muttered, looking away. However, the red on my cheeks were not fading in the slightest, which made my poor attempt at trying to look disinterested rather unconvincing.

"Don't tease her Fuuta," Viviana scolded the younger man.

At least someone had my back.

Viviana's stern look at Fuuta turned into a playful glint as her eyes danced with amusement at me. "She just wants to bang him," she quipped in her thick Italian accent.

Nevermind.

My jaw went slack at her suggestive accusation. "N-No!" I bit out, feeling rather tongue-tied at the moment.

'Bang' him?

I just met him!

Viviana and Fuuta shared a look of mirth and shook their heads at my red-faced state.

"You don't need to be embarrassed," Fuuta replied with a dark eyebrow raised.

In a way, he was right. I was twenty years old for god's sakes! And there was no beating around the bush, but I have had sex before. Sex at this age was a normal thing, so why was I feeling so uncomfortable about it? Hell, kids these days were doing at younger ages (which was gross, but true), so there was nothing to be ashamed about. But to hear someone as reserved as Viviana is, or rather seemed to be, talking about 'banging' was unnerving.

I swallowed thickly, "It's really not like that..." I trailed off, the heat on my face increasing by the second.

Viviana poked my side."It's alright, we've all wanted to bang a boss of ours at some point in our lives," came her blunt reply.

I just wanted nothing more than to curl up in a corner and die from my embarrassment.

Despite how uncomfortable I was, I felt myself questioning her. "How can you say things like that so casually?" I asked curiously.

"It's normal," She sighed while patting me on the head. "We have hormones, so it's inevitable."

I leaned into her touch and let out a sigh with her. "The struggle is real."

Fuuta nodded in acknowledgment.

The three of us seemed to be in our own world of meager troubles for a few moments until the sound of a door being slammed open snapped caught our full attention.

All of the cooks in the kitchen, including ourselves, looked over to the entrance in confusion.

"You three..." came a dark, eerily hostile voice from the shadows the doors created.

The three of us tensed, recognizing that voice anywhere.

The older woman stepped elegantly into the kitchen, her stern gaze keeping us from moving.

We shared a knowing look amongst each other and mentally prepared for the wrath of the demon named Gloria.

"If you all think for one second you can slack off without getting caught," the sense of dread was growing stronger with every step she took, "-you're wrong."

The sides of Gloria's mouth twitched upwards in a sinister manner that almost made me shit my pants.

"Get ready to work you're asses off."

Gloria would later be haunting my dreams for the next two weeks.
