My Dark Hunter

I've made the price of a broomstick £150 or rather 30 galleons I'm not sure whether it's realistic enough but it's what I've gone for!

Chapter 21

A month later

Hadrian and Harmony had been in Forks for an entire month, and they had settled in better than they could have hoped for. They had passed their driving tests and were now able to explore Forks in its entirety. Despite the fact they weren't attending school, Harmony continued to learn what she could in her free time, in everything she'd missed in the past however many years. Hadrian wasn't as enthusiastic in learning things but did listen to Harmony when she spoke to him about things and he retained that information now that he was a half vampire. They'd been approached by many of the teenagers while they were out and about, but neither of them were exactly what you would call very sociable, they'd made a good impression but they weren't exactly salivating to go and do activities with them and become friends, most of the females were gossips and it was something Harmony and Hadrian abhorred for different reasons. They felt as if they were only interested in the information they could get out of them, what would happen after the excitement and mystery wore off?

"We're back," Harmony called as she lobbed the keys into the small container at the side of the living room that there especially for the keys it had some loose muggle and magical change in it too. Her house key was attached to her new car keys.

"Did you find what you were looking for?" Hayden enquired as he made his way into the living room from the other entrance. Not that he knew what they'd gone out for in the first place, he was seeing less of them these days as they got accustomed to Forks. He was ecstatic that they were happy, although slightly disappointed that he didn't get to spend much time with them.

"Yes, surprisingly, I thought I was going to have to go to the library and order one," Harmony said, before admitting "But there was an electronics store twenty minutes from here. This was one thing I really missed about the Muggle world while I was at school."

"Oh?" Hayden asked eyebrow rose in curiosity, as his daughter showed him the box that continued a laptop within.

"Have you ever used one?" Harmony continued their conversation, much more comfortable with her father than she had been a month ago. Things were getting easier, it was getting to the extent that she could go weeks without thinking of the Grangers.

"Once, but it was much larger than that," Hayden admitted, he and Severus had been in the Muggle world numerous times, it was why despite the fact he was a pureblood, he found it very easy to live here. Technology had obviously advanced greatly since the last time he'd been here.

"A PC?" Harry guessed he knew his electronics, despite the fact he'd never really been on them due to the fact Dudley had gotten everything in existence, and broken them too.

"Yes," Hayden nodded, taking a seat adding as an afterthought, "Your dad is going to Seattle's Magical district later today if you're interested in going with him." the potions lab had been fully installed, with every protection spell in existence keeping the area well safe even if the potions exploded which of course wouldn't happen - Severus was a Potions Master. Now he wanted to get his lab set up fully, he'd put what he'd taken from Hogwarts and the manor into the cupboard, what was useable anyway, since Severus had binned a lot that were way passed their shelf life, like herbs that had withered to the point that they would ruin the potion.

"I'd like to go," Harmony nodded in agreement, "Are we still going bowling?" they liked to go out together as a family on a Sunday, but they weren't sure if it was something they would do today due to the fact their dad had been turned only six days ago.

"Definitely," Hayden said, he enjoyed it more than he should. They all got perfect scores; the bowling ball had absolutely nothing on them. It wasn't the competitiveness that had them going in the first place; it was just being able to get together as a family. There wasn't a lot to do around Forks either, so the Cinema was also really the only other thing they could do apart from bowling. Severus didn't like it so much, mostly due to the amount of teenagers that was there - he said it was like being back at Hogwarts and enduring N.E.W.T's students again. It was just the loud cacophony of noise; Severus hated loud obnoxiously rude children.

"There is some sort of carnival happening in Seattle," Hadrian mentioned, "I'd like to go, I've never been before."

"A carnival?" Hayden echoed in surprise, he was surprised that Hadrian would want to go, but he didn't know everything about his children yet.

"Yeah, old car shows, fireworks, food, drink and rides." Hadrian said, "It sounds like a lot of fun,"

"And you've never been to one?" Hayden said slowly, his mind processing this, he definitely needed to get tickets, if its tickets they required and not just paying upon admittance. Hadrian had said he wanted to go, but was it by himself? Or with Harmony? Would he even want to go with his parents? He was at that age where he should be going to places with friends. Hadrian didn't have friends yet, he was hopeful that he would find someone similar to him here. Same with his daughter, he didn't want them to be miserable or without people to talk to other than himself and Sev.

"No," Hadrian gave his father a confused look; he'd already said that so he wasn't sure why he was repeating himself. Dudley had gone to hundreds over the years, going with his friends when he got older, with over a hundred pound in his pocket, he'd been spoiled beyond comprehension.

"Do you want to go alone? With your sister? With all of us?" Hayden then asked, grumbling inwardly at having to actually ask his kids what they wanted. He should know them well enough, now that he'd gotten over the shock of what Dumbledore had done to his family, he was beginning to feel the unfairness of what had truly been taken from him.

"And go were exactly?" Severus drawled as he entered the room, despite the fact he was now a vampire, Severus hadn't truly changed much outwardly at least. He was still pale, although he was a little paler than normal. His eyes had gotten a little darker, more intense, especially since he no longer had to blink. The worry that he would find the twins appetising due to the fact they were only half vampire was for nothing, he felt nothing but a more intense need to protect them from any and all dangers. Merlin help anyone who tried to hurt his children, they wouldn't know what hit him. His protective instincts were in overdrive, whether they were calm down or not remained to be seen since Severus had always been protective of those he loved.

"A carnival, or rather a fair sort of thing, it's in Seattle," Hadrian told him before his father could speak. "I don't mind if you want to come, but I don't want you to feel like you have to come." truthfully he liked this day of the week where the family did things together, like bowling, he'd never been, nor had he actually gone to the movies, it was fun more fun than he'd anticipated - his room now had over half a dozen movies he'd bought to try out. In fact he'd bought another five while he and Harmony had been out shopping.

"That sounds like fun, I'm sure your father and I can find something to do there that doesn't entail following you around, we can meet up later," Severus replied, he would feel a lot better being there, but he knew he couldn't shadow his children all the time, they were far too independent for that. He also knew Hadrian and Harmony liked the get together on a Saturday night, made them feel more like a family. It was helping them overcome the trauma of what they'd found out, and how abruptly they'd found out too. He knew Harmony was struggling more than Hadrian though, his husband had told him, and they were doing all in their power to help ease the transition for her. Harmony keeping herself busy was actually helping too; neither he nor Hayden would be overly surprised if Harmony actually took exams soon.

"I'm going to put this in my room before we go," Harmony said grabbing everything and her laptop before she quickly made her way upstairs to drop off her stuff.

Hadrian grabbed his own stuff and made his way up to his room, although it was mostly to get his Gringotts card, he'd put all his Potter funds into the vault along with a great deal being put into it by his dads, both of them, due to the fact they had their own fortunes. Harmony and he had both gotten the same amount; despite the fact Hadrian had his own money from the Potters. He still wasn't used to having money to spend; in fact Harmony had spent more than him. Double the amount, maybe even triple. Hadrian guessed it was their way of trying to make up for lost time. As if money could make it all better.

"Gotcha," Hadrian muttered, grasping his wallet, making sure he had his Gringotts card inside before he flipped it shut and put it in his pocket, leaving his bags on his bed, he'd put the movies on the shelf later, probably after watching them. With that he got back down stairs in record time, waiting on Harmony to get downstairs so they could go. He couldn't wait, he'd only Apparated once since he passed his license, and Apparation license not his driving license.

"Ready?" Severus enquired as Harmony finally came in after a few minutes, when she nodded, he said, "Apparate to the Apothecary," there was only one so they didn't need to worry, it was an extremely large shop that sold absolutely everything you'd need, perhaps that was the reason they only had one.

"I'll see you soon," Hayden commented, watching them Apparate away. It had been an entire month since he had learned absolutely everything that had happened to his son and daughter while they were at Hogwarts. Hell he was still reeling after some of the information, part of him wanted to lodge a dozen complaints within the Ministry for their misconduct. Giving a thirteen year old child a time-turner? Then there was everything that had happened at Hogwarts without Ministry interference! His son had almost been killed or hurt grievously by one of his teachers EVERY SINGLE YEAR! He'd been forced to participate in a tournament known to kill its damn contestants! He was underage; he should have been pulled out, no matter what the law said. Even he couldn't help but be proud of his son and the progress he'd made participating in it, admittedly Hadrian had tried to downplay everything, by insisting he had help every step away from either the impersonated Moody to his friends. Even with help he had been doing it alone, for a fourteen year old it was a tremendous feat, especially considering everyone he was competing with was seventeen/eighteen years old. How they knew the meaning of the world normal was a complete wonder to him, although considering all they'd been through he guessed going to the movies or bowling seemed like a godsend, no wonder they enjoyed themselves to much. More importantly the urge to kill Delores Umbridge was strong enough that he actually contemplated going back to Britain to enact his revenge. He wouldn't though, he couldn't risk them ever being tracked, or them figuring out he was alive, which left him with just one option, using someone to do it for him, and he knew just the guy for that, someone he had met undercover during his days as an unspeakable. Technically he should have handed him over, told them about him he was an assassin after all…but he wasn't exactly a law abiding wizard/vampire himself. Hopefully the way of getting in touch with him was the same after all these years, and if he was still alive. This way justice could be served even if he wasn't the one doling it out. Donnie never hurt children or women normally without due cause, but what Umbridge had done...was sure to raise Donnie's hackles. Perhaps he should do this now, so he could enjoy family night without feeling this constant need for bitter revenge.

A vindictive smirk appeared on his face, as he Apparated away from his home ready to do whatever it took to get vengeance on those who had hurt his family.

"I'm never going to get used to this," Hadrian said, grinning gleefully, proud of himself, he honestly didn't see how anyone ended up splinching themselves. It was so easy to Apparate, he would say if felt worse actually being side-long Apparated as apposed to actually Apparating oneself.

Severus chuckled wryly, everyone felt the same when they first learned to Apparate, he was actually proud that they hadn't resorted to Apparating everywhere instead of walking, which was what a lot of young teenagers did when they first passed. Except those with patience and no time for childish antics of course, like himself. The euphoria would fade given time, and it would be just an every day event. "Go on, I'll meet you outside the book store," Severus told them, knowing without a doubt that his daughter would still be browsing when he was done - even if he planned on being in the apothecary quite a while himself. Breathing deeply, trying to keep the urge to feed at bay, he had just drank his fill not even twenty minutes ago, but he knew it would take at least two years for him to gain full control. "Do not be in there too long," he cautioned Harmony, there were far too many books in the house as it was.

They both nodded their agreement before wandering off talking animatedly together, and he was able to hear each word, his lips twitched yet again, apparently they were both arguing on which shop to visit first. Hadrian wasn't putting up a fight against going to the bookstore he just wanted to go elsewhere first. Then again Hadrian had spoken about a few books he wanted to get, most of them centred around Defence. He'd said they sounded awesome, when Hayden had mentioned them after a duel. Hadrian certainly loved that part of his education, while Harmony preferred potions and reading. They still had their individual likes and dislikes, but in other ways Severus was seeing how similar they were. He often contemplated the idea that they had just gotten like that after the bond renewed…or if they had actually always been that way. If only he could go back in time and take them when they were still young and innocent-ish he wasn't sure his son ever had that chance.

Sighing softly he entered the apothecary, unconsciously relaxing surrounded by very familiar smells. He picked up a crate basket and began to pick out exactly what he wanted and needed. His lab was finally completely finished and he was now going to be able to brew properly for the first time in over a month. It just wasn't the same using the empty room with a makeshift lab; it was also dangerous without spells to prevent any cave ins if a potion was to explode. Hence his decision to stick with the easier potions, but that was done now; he would be able to brew whatever he liked.

Harry paused outside the Quidditch/Quodpot store, observing the snitch buzzing around in a glass container for show at the window. A small smile stretching across his face, remembering his first words about that particular ball. 'I like this ball.' he remembered telling Wood, and then of course Wood replied 'Ah, you like it now. Just wait. Its wicked fast and damn near impossible to see.' he still liked that little ball, Quidditch had been his freedom for so long, up in the air he wasn't the boy who lived, not to him, he was just a Quidditch player trying to find the snitch. Except for the times he played Slytherin second through fifth year. Draco made it next to impossible to really concentrate when he started his crap. Thankfully he was able to fly away from the annoyance that he was, admittedly it was only mostly in the beginning before the game got serious.

"As amusing as this is, can we move along?" Harmony said, already bored.

"I've said it before, I'll say it again, you're good with feelings and stuff, but you just don't understand about Quidditch." Hadrian teased her, "Do you think I should get a new broomstick?"

"Why? Your Firebolt is still the best broom on the market," Harmony pointed out momentarily confused.

"I know, but it feels wrong having it now…Snuffles hated dad, you know that, he wouldn't have wanted me if he knew the truth." Hadrian sighed wistfully, not that it mattered now.

"No, Sirius loved you, he would have been angry and felt betrayed, but he would have gotten over it," Harmony insisted, lying through her teeth.

"Liar," Hadrian said nudging her.

"None of this was your fault or even James, Lily or Snuffles fault, keep it, keep your memories of him, its all he is now, he didn't have a family of his own, only you and you should keep them alive in your heart." Harmony said honestly, "Plus you can go faster than even your Firebolt. So buying another broom is just a waste of time. You said you wanted to learn to fly anyway, dad says we're powerful enough so why not concentrate on that?"

"You've never understood what Quidditch was to me, Mione," Hadrian said turning to face her, "It was to me like your books are for you. An escape, up there I wasn't Harry Potter, I wasn't even the Boy-Who-Lived, I was just an ordinary Quidditch player, it's something I'm really good at, a freedom I couldn't get anywhere else."

Harmony deflated a little, why had Hadrian never said anything when she constantly complained about the sport? Was it because for most part Ron had always been there and he was the one to quickly argue with her? She honestly didn't know, and she wasn't sure what to say. "Quidditch or flying?" she asked, not sure why but feeling the need to truly understand it all, although she understood, he'd used the perfect way for her to understand.

"I've no idea, the only time I've flown on my broom when I wasn't playing Quidditch I was almost roasted to death," Hadrian said wryly.

"Then go get a new broom, keep Snuffles one safe, and if anything happens…like your Nimbus there will be no regret," Harmony suggested, urging him towards the shop, "But please, please, please don't take too long."

"Um why don't you get some cat food or treats next door while I get one?" Hadrian suggested knowing she hated anything to do with Quidditch. "Get some things for Hedwig too, I'll pay you back!"

"Alright," Harmony quickly agreed anything not to be browsing a Quidditch store for the next hour.

Hadrian just shook his head; Harmony would never change when it came to Quidditch. Hadrian wandered straight to the displayed broomsticks in the glass casing; they were always the newest ones. Lightening bolt, fastest broom in the market, according to the tag, there wasn't a new boom back in the UK, either they wouldn't get it for a while yet or it was solely for the market here in the USA.

"I'd like to purchase the Lightening bolt," Hadrian stated as he walked up to the counter, hearing the groaning of several teenagers who had heard him and were envious of the fact they couldn't get the broom. Adding a snitch which was in a container and closed up, its wings hidden inside of it.

The owner scrutinised him for a few moments, trying to judge whether he was going to be one of those customers who couldn't actually afford it. Judging by his confident demeanour and his clothes, he suspected the teenager wouldn't have a problem at all. Giving him a single nod, he disappeared into the back, grabbing a boxed up Lightening Bolt broomstick, and taking it back out-front, he didn't have to worry about anyone stealing since there were wards to prevent such a thing from occurring in his store.

"That's thirty-two galleons," the owner said, placing the broomstick in brown paper packaging and tying it with white string to keep it wrapped up.

Hadrian handed over his Gringotts card, infusing the machine the card was in with magic from his wand so they knew it hadn't been stolen and that it was him authorising the transaction. The machine beeped once, only then did the guy remove it and give it back along with a receipt for him before shuffling the boxed broom across. "Pleasure doing business with you," he said his voice deep and gravely.

"Thanks, bye," Hadrian muttered quietly, taking the boxed broom with a big grin and leaving the shop. Glancing around before wandering to the pet shop, only to bump into Harmony coming out of the shop a blue bag filled with an assortment of treats and toys.

"What did you buy?" Hadrian enquired, the bag was absolutely full.

"I don't have toys for Crookshanks here, they were all at…well there, I only had a few in my trunk, and he didn't play much while I was at school." Harmony explained, "I got quite a few things for Hedwig, including mice," which were her favourite, Hadrian always got her them when he could, during their Hogsmeade visits.

"Thanks," Hadrian said grinning, "Come on then, the bookstore it is,"

"I thought you wanted to go and get sweets?" Harmony asked, surprised that Hadrian actually wanted to go in; he avoided it whenever he could.

"It's not in this section, we'd be going back and forth, books first, then apothecary then sweets, that's if dad's even finished." Hadrian replied, "He's like you when you go into a bookstore, he stays in there forever."

Harmony laughed, "I'm honestly surprised you weren't in the Quidditch store longer!" she added, still chortling as she opened the door and both of them inhaled the smell of books, the library smelt of older mustier ones, Harmony's room had a new book smell since she'd been buying them like they were going out of business.

"I was only in there for one thing, but I did get a snitch as well," Hadrian shrugged, "It never takes long, I mean it's not like it used to be when I was younger…everything new and amazing, I could have spent all day in Diagon Alley the first time I saw it." it had been so enchanting, something new and odd and he'd loved every second of it, in fact he'd wanted to buy so much more than he'd inevitably bought.

Harmony smiled, "I know, I must have been in the book store for over an hour," and she'd bought books not on the list, lots of them. All the while her so called 'parent's' had been looking around in 'awe' as if it was their first time. No, she couldn't let them control everything, not all her happy memories she tried and succeeded on focusing on the good things. It wasn't fair they should have been together and already aware of the magical world, should have been raised in it.

"I'll be in the defence section," Hadrian murmured as he looked around over the top of the shelves for the different sectioned all labelled with their appropriate titles. The defence section was definitely the biggest, closely followed by the creature section. Although that wasn't what he was interested in, having memorised the titles, he browed the relevant title, hoping to get them, when he'd asked why the library didn't have them, his father had said they must have been taken by his brother, since Severus wouldn't let any book be destroyed or lost, it was the only conclusion he could reach. In fact he'd said quite a few of them had actually been taken out the library.

Finding the first of the five titles, he plucked it from the shelf, he probably should have gotten a basket, he thought to himself, but he continued to browse until he found the other books he was interested in. He was never going to be a big reader that much was certain, but when it came to some subjects he did get into them enough that he really liked learning. Two more were plucked from their place as he wandered around, the last two were close together, but Hadrian was distracted by the new release books, and after reading the back decided he wanted that as well. So he was balancing six books in his arms, not that it was hard, he was a half-vampire after all. He added one for learning how to fly, literally actually not with a broom, self flight, the book was small, only three chapters in it but if it helped then he was all for it, the thought of actually flying was exciting.

"Bloody hell, Mione!" Hadrian gaped seeing the amount in a basket she was carrying around once he rounded a corner. "Are you trying to buy the entire shop in less than a year?" try three months he thought to himself.

"It's not that many," Harmony rolled her eyes.

"There are twenty books in there; we didn't even need that for school!" Hadrian protested.

"Actually we did once," Harmony pointed out, "But don't worry I'm done," there weren't that many books here now that she could buy, their home had so many books already even ones that wouldn't be sold in a shop, ones that only she and her family would ever read.

"Pft, I'm not sure that even counts, using every student at Hogwarts to boost his books sales," Hadrian scowled as they stepped up, Harmony went first.

"It's actually really smart when you think about it," Harmony admitted.

"He might have been sorted into Hufflepuff but I'm sure he was as Slytherin as they come," Hadrian conceded.

"Even Slytherin's are too proud to steal other peoples work, our dads wouldn't do that," Harmony said in reproach.

"True," Hadrian admitted, barely listening to the teller, but it didn't take long for his books to be rung up.

"He was just a horrible wizard," Harmony grimaced, to think he could have had Ginny killed by negligence, and Obliviated both Hadrian and Ron and maybe even responsible for all their deaths? She shuddered at the thought of wakening up and being told her friends were dead.

"Heh," Hadrian said wryly, handing over his card when he was told the price. Placing his wand in the machine once the card had been slotted in. "I can think of a lot worse names."

"No doubt about it, let's go get dad," Harmony said, grabbing her own books, waiting patiently on Hadrian grabbing his. She had a potions tutorial, Hadrian would be training with their father then they would be going bowling.

When the twins finally meet the Cullens would you like to show both Harmony/Edward and Jasper/Harry scenes or would you prefer it to focus on Harry and have Harmony in the background well sort of not too much in the background i mean...I still cant' decide whether to have them meet up during bowling night :P or maybe have an incident happen afterwards and Harry as always plays the hero...I really need to make a decision but a solid one is evading me i sort of just wanted it to be different you know? too many twilight stories out there are just so similar its nauseating and I know i'm guilty of it too its why i'm trying to deviate away from the norm including no school :P no normal meet and greet with the Cullen's :D R&R please
