Chapter 6: Run, Run, Run

The trio sat in a circle on the grass enjoying the slight wind that brushed their uniforms, under the canopy of the trees they let themselves the sun caress their skin.

Zoro was sleeping with slight snores with her sword clutched in her hands like a teddy bear.

Hancock just laid there with his hands clasped on his stomach glancing every so often at Luffy, who in his eyes, looked like an angel with her black hair splayed on the grass. She was on her back with her arms behind her head just enjoying the midday sun and the calm atmosphere.

RING.

Luffy shot up and grinned down at Hancock, "Hey, it's time for Gym, isn't this great Hancock we get to have class together."

Hancock's face turned red and he stood up abruptly and he nodded quickly.

"Y-yes, shouldn't we be g-going Luffy."

She tilted her head, "you okay, our face is all red again. You wanna go to the nurse."

He brought his hands up to cover his red face and mumbled, "I'm fine it's just its kind of...hot, yes. Well I'll see you in Gym." Images of a straw hat wearing girl plagued his mind, and not all of them were so...innocent.

'She can't know that I was thinking of her in her P.E. uniform, she'd think I was a pervert.'

Luffy scratched her head but quickly averted her attention to Zoro, who was still sleeping on the grass with a slight trail of drool seeping from the corner of her mouth. A great idea popped in Luffy's head and she smiled before cupping her hands around her mouth close to her ear...

"HEY ZORO, TIME FOR CLASS."

She managed to avoid a swing of Zoro's wooden sword by just an inch and fury filled grey eyes hovered above her own. A faint shiver ran up her spine and seeing this side of Zoro really made her wish that she hadn't woken up Zoro at all.

"What the hell were you doing?" She stumbled up and grabbed her sword with a shaking hand

"U-um...waking you up."

Zoro gave a smirk and grasped the sword with both hands and dug her heels into the grass, "then let me thank you." Her eyes held a sharp glint and she raised her sword above her head.

"W-wait, let's talk about this...hey, not the-OWWWWW."

Throughout her whole life, Luffy would remember this one thing: never wake up Zoro that way again unless she wanted to face another swing of that sword. She saw a side of Zoro that da that even made her scared for her life.

Luffy rubbed the large bump on her head as she changed into the standard P.E. uniform. She pulled a white t-shirt over her spiky black hair tugging it over her chest and tugging it down to reach her stomach.

She glanced back at her green haired friend with watery brown eyes and grumbled, "Why did you have to hit me so hard Zoro?"

Zoro sighed and rubbed her ears, "don't wake me up so damn loudly and I won't hit you, got it?" Her locker door slammed with a thud and she rubbed her ears, they were still ringing from Luffy's little prank. Zoro had to admit it that Luffy could yell, she'd never heard such a horrible sound.

Luffy pouted and crossed her arms over her chest, "fine, fine. Geez you're no fun, Zoro."

Her eye twitched and she controlled her rage (barely)and tugged her black sneakers on over her white socks and stomped toward the doors and left with a dark scowl.

"Hey, wait Zoro. I'm almost done."

Luffy pulled her skirt down and shoved it into her locker along with her polo shirt and backpack. She tugged on her blue shorts and shoved her feet into white sneakers. She kept her straw hat in its usual place on her head and rushed out of the locker room, almost falling over her own feet as she pushed open the large doors.

A set of tan arms caught her before she fell over and she looked up to see a familiar head of green.

"You're such a klutz you know that Luffy."

Luffy smiled and reached up and swung her arms around Zoro's neck and squeezed, "Zoro, I knew you would wait for me."

Zoro smiled at first when the hug started but she quickly found out that Luffy was stronger than she looked. Her lungs were screaming for air and Luffy wouldn't budge no matter how many times she tried prying the girl off of her.

"U-um, Luffy I think that Zoro is going to die if you keep hugging her." A familiar baritone made Luffy look past Zoro's hair to see Hancock smiling sheepishly from a few feet away with red cheeks.

"Huh."

Luffy let go of Zoro and she collapsed to the ground pale-faced and gasping for breath.

"Never hug me again Luffy, you almost killed me."

Luffy scratched her head and crouched at Zoro's level, "I wouldn't have killed you with just a hug, but sometimes I don't know my strength, sorry."

Hancock walked up nervously glancing now and then at Luffy while he stared down at Zoro. He offered her a hand and Zoro stared up at him before her eyes went from him to Luffy and she smirked before he allowed him to help her up.

His blush deepened and he coughed into his hand, "shouldn't we get to class?"

"Ah, let's go you guys."

Luffy looped her arms through Zoro's and Hancock's and tugged them toward the field that laid in front of the girl's locker room. Hancock really tried to ignore the soft feeling rubbing against his arm while averting his gaze to look on 'anything' other than his new crush.

Zoro's smirk slipped into a frown at Hancock's attempt at hiding his feelings. Of course she was gonna help the guy, he didn't seem so bad after all and he made Luffy happy.

The field was about the size of two football fields with huge stands at the sides along with a track running around the grassy area. The trio made it just in time before a shrill whistle pierced the air, and all the students lined up before the gym teacher.

The gym teacher was...well…interesting, to say in the least. Franky was a blue haired woman with grey eyes, who prided herself as a teacher who always strayed from the norm. Her usual outfit consisted of a gym jacket over a bikini, a pair of sunglasses that rested on her forehead, and a gold chain on top of her gym jacket. Her choice of dress didn't get her fired, but led to some straying gazes by students and teachers alike.

"Yo, students. I'm Franky, your suuuuper gym teacher for the next year." She struck a pose that left most stunned while Luffy laughed at her stunt, she decided then that she's have a lot of fun with her gym teacher this year.

Franky slipped back into teacher mode and called on roll call marking anyone absent on her clipboard before she tucked it into the crook of his arm, "so let's start the class with some running. You're free to choose partners or run alone, have a suuuper time running!"

Luffy raised her fist to the air and smiled widely, "doesn't Franky-sensei seem fun?"

Hancock and Zoro's reaction to her question were awkward laughs and a crooked smile, to them their sensei was more of a nuisance than funny.

Zoro let out a sigh, "you two have fun running, I'm going to run by myself for a change." She glanced at Hancock before she started running and gave him a thumbs up. Luffy wondered at the thumbs up, but didn't question and cupped her hands and yelled, "see you later, Zoro."

The reason was clear: don't mess up this chance.

He gave her a brief nod of thanks and the smile came easily as he watched her run with a slow jog.

"Shall we start running Luffy?"

He thanked God that he didn't stutter and his blush wasn't as hot on his face. Luffy gave him that smile that always made his insides tingle and they started running side by side. The two black-haired teenagers talked of their favorite things (Luffy of course said meat was her favorite thing in the world) and Hancock enjoyed their time together, just the two of them.

Although, a large rock ruined their moment and Luffy stumbled to the ground with a surprised shout of pain.

"Luffy, are you okay?"

Hancock knelt at her side and saw that her knee got a good scrap along with her elbow, he felt the tingle die along with his good mood in place of guilt.

Franky saw Luffy's fall and knelt by the two to check out her scraped knee and elbow. She smiled sympathetically and patted her leg before signing a note on her clipboard.

"Hmm. Looks like she needs to go to the nurse, anyone want to volunteer to carry her to the infirmary."

Before any of the boys could even speak a word, Hancock scooped Luffy up and said, "I-I'll do it." He felt his face heat up even more with his stutter, and tried to keep up his composure long enough to take Luffy to the infirmary.

Franky nodded her head and handed over the note with a smile and went back to her class.

Hancock ran away leaving his classmates dazed, but Zoro stared at her new friends with a faint smile, she knew that Luffy was in good hands.

Luffy felt something she never felt before as Hancock carried her bridal style to the nurse's office, it was nice feeling and she placed her head on his chest.

The nurse's office was a dull building with the usual promotional poster that read: hang in there, along with a cutely drawn kitten on a tree branch. The room had about six beds on the right and left side with open blue curtains. A light blue paint decorated the walls with an open window and an empty desk positioned at the farthest wall.

Hancock set Luffy on the nearest bed and saw that the nurse was out and turned around to hide his tomato red face. His actions made his mind clouded and warm and he struggled to regain his usual straight face. It was hard, he remembered the feel of Luffy, she was lighter than he thought, and she was so soft and smelled…

The door opened and he straightened up and shouted, "e-excuse me, b-but my friend n-needs help." Again with that cursed stutter that seemed to always come up at every inconvenient moment.

"Oh? I'm not the nurse, but I can help you."

Hancock frowned and stared at the male eye to eye. He wore a furry, dot spotted hat that concealed his eyes but tufts of raven hair peeked out. He took note of the mischievous smile and the black goatee along. His head tilted to the side and looked at the straw hat wearing girl who was glancing at the two with curiosity.

Hancock saw that his gaze sat upon Luffy with interest and glared at him, "who are you?"

The student smirked and went to the desk and retrieved a first aid kit from one of the many drawers.

"Is this how you treat a third year? My name is Trafalgar Law, and you should really show some respect to your seniors, Hancock-kun."

He sat near Luffy and opened the kit and took out a yellow packet, a cotton swab, and large bandages.

"How do you know my name, Trafalgar?"

Law laughed and smiled harmlessly as he applied the antiseptic to Luffy's injuries while she stayed still and pouted, "hey! That's really cold."

"Sorry, Mugiwara-ya, but it keeps your injuries from getting infection. Also, to answer your question; who wouldn't know the famous prince of All Blue High School."

She huffed and stayed still while Hancock watched while he crossed his arms with irritation and glared at the third year. Luffy didn't really pick up on her conversation, but on what Zoro could be doing right about now.

Law threw the cotton swab and antiseptic packet away into the trash and pressed the bandages to Luffy's knee and elbow.

"Thank you, Tra-guy. I feel a lot better." She hopped off the bed and looked out the window to see the view of the school.

Law smiled at her behavior, not minding his new nickname and closed the first aid kit and placed it back in its original spot and glance at Hancock.

"You two seem like a good couple-"

Hancock blushed, "we're not a couple, we're just-"

Law patted his shoulder and leaned into his ear, "well even if you're just friends, there are some who would have their sights trained on your friend."

Hancock grabbed his hand within a tight grip and growled, "and who would those people be, you maybe."

Law smirked, "maybe" he glanced at Luffy "but, I'd rather see how this all plays out." Hancock let his grip loosen and Law walked away with a slow gait.

His hand hovered over the doorknob, "keep that girl close to you, if you truly value her" he whispered over his shoulder.

Hope this was worth the wait and look forward to some drama! And Again I apologize for the wait.
