Chapter Three
I own nothing. This is pure crackfic. Hope you read and enjoy.
Thank you to everyone who reads, reviews, favorites or follows.
This chapter is an insight into Rebekah's mind.
Rebekah had always prided herself on being especially observant. As a fan of Harry Potter, the Original vampire believed in Constant Vigilance. (Yes, thank you Mad Eye Moody and Kol for insisting they watch all the movies together)
So while everyone was busy catching up and listening to Angel's story, Rebekah watched them. Everyone thought she was merely a pretty face. They always forgot the sharp mind that had ensured her survival all these years. She knew the various ways to manipulate her brothers and how exactly she needed to play them off each other. Although certainly somewhere deep down deep inside she did love them in her own way. Even Niklaus with his petty jealousies and insecurities. Father had been right in his belief that family came first. She chose to ignore that Father had tried to kill them all at one point or another.
Rebekah sighed, family was rather complicated. Attempted homicide was healthy amongst them. In fact it was often encouraged.
She was so above the petty humans and baby vampires. The only female she had ever come close to respecting was Pam. Pamela Swynford De Beaufort knew how to play to humans ideas of what vampires should be and she had turned it into a very successful business. None of that hiding in the shadows nonsense for Pam and Eric. They embraced what they were and Rebekah wished that she could be around vampires like them. She loved Pam's eclectic dress sense. A vampire who wore corsets to work and then rocked pastels on her days off? That was admirable.
But no, she was stuck with vampires with guilt complexes. They were not allowed to be themselves. It was all too tragic really.
She looked over at Spike. She shook her head quickly. No she was never going back to him. That was asking for trouble.
Rebekah's eyes stopped. Damon was up to something.
He was busy trying to sneak something under the table and failing in being stealthy about it. Eric noticed but couldn't be bothered to do anything about it. Eric Northman was of the belief that if it wasn't his territory then it was not his problem.
The female Original ignored the chatter around her. Spike was going on about Drusilla again. Nothing new there then. She grimaced as she recalled Dru's eccentricities.
Damon glanced around and stood up as casually as he could but Rebekah saw his hand hide something in the depths of his ever present leather jacket. She rolled her eyes at Eric, earning a smirk from the Norse vampire.
Damon walked to the back of the Grill and she waited for a few minutes and then she stood.
Elijah looked at her but she was quick to smile innocently at him, "I need to powder my nose."
Her brother merely nodded and turned his attention back to Kol. Elijah and Klaus were hovering over Kol like anxious mother hens.
Rebekah followed the elder Salvatore brother and she leaned against a wall as she watched him go into the men's room.
She grinned as she watched the door close behind him. She hadn't had a good chase in a long time. It was a good thing that her big brothers were too busy with Kol to notice her.
She slid silently into the men's room. Damon stood facing the mirrors looking down at something in his hands. He hadn't even heard the door close behind him.
"You stole Kol's phone," she said without preamble.
Damon almost hurled the phone at her such was his surprise. "You should not be sneaking up on people!"
Rebekah smiled proudly, she had terrified the poor vampire it seemed. "Don't make me ask again because I won't ask so nicely the second time."
Damon shrugged carelessly, "Fine so what," he tried to smile at her. Was he trying to flirt? Like she would fall for that again? "I just wanted to see if your brother was up to anything."
Rebekah looked down at the phone and crossed her hands, "Did you find anything to amuse that little brain of yours?"
He growled softly, "Don't threaten me Barbie."
That earned a genuine laugh from her, "I could break you into tiny pieces before your friends could sweep in here to save you."
He huffed, trying to be brave. He read from the screen. "There's just a bunch of texts from someone called Jasper Hale."
Damon scrolled through the messages, "We won't be able to make it to your party. Alice has seen that Eric will stake Edward."
"Ask Peter and Charlotte to come in our place."
"That's a definite outcome on the staking. Alice has seen that Spike will stake Edward if Eric doesn't do it first."
"Pamela might attack Rosalie. They do tend to compete when in the same room."
"Hope that you have a good time Kol. Have a drink for me."
Damon looked at the Original for an explanation.
Rebekah was doing her very best not to laugh, "Jasper Hale belongs to the Cullen clan. They are a bunch of new age vampires. They live in the woods of a small town and they have gone on this really weird retro diet of animal blood. They live together in a glass mansion and commune with nature. They drink from mountain lions and bears. They have this idea that their diet gives them some kind of special gifts."
"Sounds kind of head trippy to me," Damon agreed.
"A wild vegan diet will do things to you," Rebekah replied. "Jasper is okay though. He's the only one I can tolerate. I did try to sleep with Emmett once but his wife almost caught us."
Damon looked back at the phone, "Kol has interesting friends."
Rebekah sighed, "He does. Now let's head back to the table and give my brother back his phone before he finds out and tries to kill you."
"I wouldn't want to ruin Kol's reunion." Damon nodded and they headed back as discreetly as possible.
Jasper is friends with Kol but Rebekah doesn't buy into the idea that the Cullen clan has any gifts. No Cullen bashing intended.
