After Cardin and Velvet had started dating, the bully had become increasingly nicer. He had apologised to Jaune and his friends individually and he even started hanging out with the group.
"Hey Velv!" He greeted his girlfriend by picking her up and spinning her around while hugging her.
"I missed you." She rubbed her nose against her boyfriends.
"I've missed you too." He smiled happily "How was your veterinary class?" He put his girlfriend down and held her hand in his own, making their way to meet the rest of the group.
"It was cute!" She squealed in excitement "I got to look after all of the rabbits!" The brunette girl let out a giggle.
Cardin gave a confident smirk "And now I get to look after my little bunny." He gave Velvet a kiss on the top of her head.
Velvet blushed and smiled "Th..Thank you." She responded, embarrassed.
"Oi! Cardin!" Russel, Dove and Sky appeared at the end of the hallway, causing the new couple to stare at the group.
"Yo." Cardin waved his friend over "What's up Russel?" He walked up to the boys.
"What in the hell are you doing with those losers? You do remember what they did to us?" Russel spat.
Cardin felt an odd feeling in his chest. Why was he being nice to them? Especially after everything they did to him. He looked down at his feet and nervously shifted weight between the two. He felt a tug on his sleeve and turned to see a worried looking Velvet.
"Velvet." He said to his girlfriend "Do you mind going to the lunch hall now? I'll only be a second."
Velvet's face showed a look of neglect as she nodded before taking off in the direction of the cafeteria.
Cardin felt his heart tighten as she fled and his anger seeped through, concentration now on the boys in front of him "What is wrong with you guys?"
"What's wrong with us?" Sky asked in a mocking tone "What the hell is wrong with you? You drag us into fights with some blonde dick and now you and him are best buds." He spat.
Cardin flinched at the truth, he had sort of ditched his original friends for Jaune and his group "That's not true!"
"You are too soft." Dove insulted the boy "I can see why your dad was so disappointed in you."
The larger boys eyes grew hollow as the words struck true. 'Dad has always been disappointed in me... Even when Mum was here he hated me.' He stood up straight "Back the f..." He was cut short by a familiar blue haired teen.
"Hey there." Neptune confidently strode between the conflict "Something going on?" He asked Cardin.
"Wha..What are you doing here?" Cardin said in surprise.
"Helping a friend." Ren put a hand on the brunette's shoulder, shooting him a smile.
"Friend?" Cardin questioned "But I treated you like crap, why would you wanna be friends with me?"
Ren shook his head "I'm still skeptical about you, but I can see that you have changed." He explained "Also, you helped me carry the sports equipment the other day."
"You also helped me pick up girls at that club the other day." Neptune grinned "You're not that bad of a guy."
Russel recognised the two newcomers and groaned "Forget this soppy crap. C'mon guys, let's go."
"See ya later boys." Neptune waved in a flirtatious way before bursting out into laughter "Those guys are idiots."
Cardin held his head low and pushed past the duo "Thanks..." He muttered as he passed the two.
"What's up with him?" Neptune frowned slightly.
"Cardin dear, are you in?" A sweet voice called out.
"Again with that dear crap? He is a boy not some little girl." A rough, stern man answered the women.
Cardin looked up at the man who had just entered the room and smiled "Daddy!" The young boy jumped up from his seat and ran to hug him.
"Get off of me!" His dad pushed the boy back to the floor "Why are you showing such affection? Are you a man?" He scolded the boy "And for god's sake, stop watching these girly shows!" He raised his voice, pointing at the TV.
"Kenneth!" The women cried, rushing to her son's aid "He is just a kid!" She screamed, cradling the fearful child.
"No! He is a Winchester, a man! Stop teaching him how to be a women." Kenneth took a step closer to his wife.
"Being able to show that you care for something does not make you any less of a man!" She countered.
"How is he supposed to make any friends if he is weak? Stop sugarcoating it, Rachel."
"You are the weak one here! Not Cardin!"
Kenneth's eyes blazed with rage as he grabbed Rachel by the hair and pulled her to her feet "Don't you dare backchat me!" He slapped her across the face.
She let out a scream of pain as she was thrown to the ground. She looked up at her husband through teary eyes. A red mark now adorned her face.
Cardin started to cry out for his mother, but was pushed back to the floor by Kenneth "Go to your room!"
The young boy got to his feet. He didn't budge. He stood over his mother holding his arms out as if to protect her from the man.
"C..Cardin.. Do as he says!" Rachel cried out.
"But mum..." Cardin turned to her "He is gonna hurt you." His scared tears fell freely.
"Just move aside." The man grabbed Cardin by the wrist and forcefully pushed him into a wall. A cracking sound could be heard and then an ear piercing shriek. Cardin fell to ground once again, holding his shoulder in pain.
"K..Kenneth! What have you done?" Rachel sobbed, eyes desperately searching for something to use against the man. Her eyes set on an empty whiskey bottle "Cardin...Run.."
"But mum..."
"Just do it!" She screamed, causing the boy to stumble to his feet and run out of the house.
He ran down the street calling for help. Tears stung the young boys eyes and the pain in his shoulder hurt like nothing he had ever felt before.
Soon enough a blonde man emerged from his house to see what the fuss was all about, but didn't expect to find a crying boy, clutching his shoulder in the middle of the street. He quickly ushered the child into his house and dialed the police.
Cardin let out a sigh as he entered the elevator, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. He hit the third floor and waited for the slow ride up.
Soon enough the elevator door opened and his heart beat grew louder. He stepped out of the empty container and into a white hall. He took a right out of the elevator and made his way down the hall. The slow steps caused his mind to focus on his heavy heartbeat.
He stopped at the door numbered 13c and put his hand on the handle. He felt a bead of sweat roll down his face and he started to shake.
He breathed in and steadied his body. He opened the door and walked into the clean room. The walls were white, the ceiling was white, the floor was white.
'Such a dull colour...' He thought sadly. He walked further into the room and found what he was looking for. A woman was on the bed, various wires and tubes were going in and out of her. He eyes were shut. The only sounds came from the machines.
Cardin once again let out a soft sigh "Hello mum..." He frowned, setting the flowers down on the bedside table.
