Chapter 18

If someone was going to ask Arthur or England what happened outside in the rain, neither would not be able to find the words to say so and have it make sense. The rain was wet like expected, but it was also like fire. It felt like they were going to drown in all the rain, but at the same time burn to a crisp. The fight was like any of the others, only at the same time it was like being pitched into an end of a desperate war. It was as if England was an unstoppable object, trying to push Arthur, an unmovable object; all started due to the rain and ending with exhaustion.

The feeling of rain and water then stopped, followed by the sensation of being placed on something soft. It was not until several minutes passed, however, for England's eyes to finally open.

"Are you alright?" someone asked as the eyes desperately tried to make sense of the temporary world. At last they adjusted and could make out the form of France sitting next to him; the others also nearby.

"Ye gave them quite the scare," Scotland commented replacing the cloth on England's head with a fresh one.

"Where am I?" England asked, moving slightly to get up only to stop when his muscles started to resist in full force.

"You're in the conference building. You fainted outside in the rain after all of that yelling. Are you alright?" Japan answered then asked.

"Yes, I think so. Just…a bit worn out…and slightly confused," England answered, holding his head slightly.

"Confused?" Italy asked.

"Ya, I think that's the best way to put it," England answered.

"Well then, first things first. Which one are you?" America asked.

"That's one of the things that's confusing me. I know that earlier today there were two minds inside my head, but now there only seems to be me," England responded, causing the others to look confused.

"So then, which one is "me"?" Canada asked.

"…I don't know."

"So then do you have amnesia again or something?" France asked, trying to understand what the other was talking about.

"No, I remember things perfectly, you frog! I just can't determine which one I am!" England snapped while trying to explain to no success.

"Do you understand any of this Scotland?" America asked the other who was in thought.

Scotland thought several more minutes on this before nodding his head and saying, "Aye, I think I know what happened."

"Great, so what happened?" America asked.

Scotland simply smiled slightly and asked, "Well, what happens when the unstoppable meets the unmovable?"

"Um…I don't think that's an answer," America commented; having no idea what the other was getting at.

"Don't ye worry, it's not that important in the long run. Just give the runt some time te get his head sorted out and everything will be fine," Scotland answered before starting to shoo the other nations out of the room.

As the others left, England simply watched until they we gone; only to then lay back down and try to figure out what happened himself. This lasted some time, and by the end of the meeting that day England had yet to return to the room. Concerned, France decided to revisit the room where England was resting. There he found England still on the couch, only this time sitting.

"How do you feel? We were expecting you'd come back by now," France asked, causing the other to simply look at him blankly.

"Hm? Oh, right. What time is it exactly? Is the meeting on break?"

"Non, it just ended for the day. Are you sure you're alright?"

"Yes, I think so. I'm starting to get things sorted out, it's just…a bit complicated up there yet at the same time it feels a lot emptier," England tried to explain.

"So then I guess that means that one of the two personalities is gone, non," France commented while sitting next to England with a sigh.

"Yes, I suppose so. I just wish I knew which one was gone," England answered quietly.

"No clues for you to follow as to which one is gone?" France asked.

England shook his head and answered, "The little differences I remember between the two of them are both still there, but it feels like the overwhelming selves are gone."

"That sounds complicated," France replied.

"Yes, but I think I'll be alright. No, I will be alright," England said, smiling slightly in the process.

"Is that so? Then you know what happened?" France asked.

"Yes, it's just like what Scotland asked America about the unstoppable and the unmovable," England began, only to continue upon seeing France motion for him to do so, "Something that is unstoppable and something that is unmovable cannot exist together for that long. However, neither of them can be fully destroyed. But objects and forces can be altered. Understand?"

"Not exactly, but I suppose that's alright. As long as you're back to some kind of normal that's all that matters," France answered, getting off the couch with England. With this they left the room, only to find Scotland waiting outside for them.

"Ye figure it out yet?" Scotland asked England, only to get a smile from the other in response. To this Scotland nodded and said, "Good. In that case I'm leavin' the rest of the meeting to ye. See ya at some point."

With that Scotland left for his own home. The next day England sat in for the meeting, and for the meetings to follow for some distance in the future without any more issues caused those many years ago.

Not the best ending out there, but oh well.
