I lay in my bed that night, thinking things through.
"Swan? That clearly isn't your last name if she shifted into a fucking wolf. You're an Uley."
If I'm not a Swan, then who am I? Has my life been a lie?
I'm startled out of my thoughts by the sound of my phone ringing loudly. Sighing, I reach over to grab it.
"Hello?" I mumble into the phone
"Bella, honey it's mom. I heard that the big secret finally came out."
"Yeah..." You're a little late, I want to add but bite my tongue.
"I figure we have tons to discuss so I've purchased a plane ticket." She murmurs softly.
"Why can't you just tell me now?" I can hear her sigh softly.
"It's a little more important than that don't ya think?" She asks. "Look, I'll talk to you later Phil's going to be home any minuet and I haven't cooked. I love you alright."
"Yeah okay. Love you too mom." I sigh out and then there's silence followed by the dial tone.
I fall back onto the bed just as I hear the rumbling of Charlie's police car in the driveway. I listen for a second as he fumbles to put the key in the lock.
"Bells?" I hear him call, his voice drifting up the stairs softly.
"Up here?" I yell loud enough for him to hear. I hear the heavy sound of boots up the stairs and towards my room. But it's the sickly stench that hits me like a brick. He opens the door as the stench fades away slightly.
"What's wrong?" He asks as he catches sight of my face.
"That smell..." I say in disgust, nose turning up.
"That's what I came to talk about actually. The Cullens have moved back into town. You remember , right?"
"Yeah. He fixed my broken arm once."
"Yep, that's the one. He and his family have moved back into town. Upon their return, there will be a lot of new wolves shifting." He explained, eyebrows creasing.
"Why did I smell one so close?" I feel my wolf twitch at the thought of a leech so close.
"They hunt animals. They were probably in the woods nearby."
After the talk with Charlie, I manage to doze off into a land filled with a familiar silver wolf and pale kids.
