Eren yawned, his mouth stretching impossibly wide, emitting a sound of pure exhaustion. His weariness spread like a disease amongst the other humans despite the fact that they had just woken up, and within minutes, all of them were yawning. All of them, that is to say, but Annie.

"You guys are barbarians..." She muttered under her breath.

"Need I remind you what happened to that poor deer leg last night?" Eren quipped, his mouth upturned in a slight smirk. Reiner roared with laughter and added, "Yeah, have mercy on the poor thing." With a victorious grin, he added, "By the way... You were getting really close to Eren as he slept, Annie..."

"Reiner... Shut up. Now." The blonde's voice noticeably quivered with embarrassment, but it still carried a venomous tone, full of vehement anger. In the background, everyone heard the muffled grunts characteristic of a feasting Sasha. His face taut with horror, Bertholdt whipped around and gasped, "Connie, Sasha! What the heck is wrong with you two?! That was the last of our food!"

Eren scratched his head in confusion. "How long has it been since we first left?"

Sasha dropped the loaf of bread she was devouring and gently tapped her chin with her index finger. "Hmm... How long? Well... Let's see. I ate ten deer, fourteen chickens, a hundred quail eggs, a stray cow, and about forty fistfuls of tree bark... We've been out here for about 3 days.

Connie's eyes widened in amazement, and he let loose an impressed whistle. "You can eat THAT much in only three days? Wow."

With a grin, Eren teased, "You find that hot, don't you, Connie? You just wanna kiss her, don't you?" His face quickly becoming a deep shade of crimson, Connie retorted, "So what?! I'm not the one who got caught making out with Leonhardt!"

Annie, who was silent for the majority of the conversation, muttered, "I'll kill you..." causing Connie to gulp and hide behind Sasha's bushy ebony ponytail.

Trying to break the awkward silence, Reiner interjected, "Hey, Eren. We've been out here for three days, yet you still haven't told us where we're going or why."

A frown crossed Eren's face, and he muttered, "I need to find out what's in my basement..." Silence fell upon the group, and Connie tried to get out a nervous laugh. Stuttering, he asked, "You're- you're kidding me, right, Eren? The entire Scouting Legion wasn't able to get you there!"

Eren smiled and joked, "Well, Jean did say I was suicidal." This earned a little chuckle from his friends, and Reiner broke into a hearty laugh at the mention of that stick in the mud.

"Well, let's just take a few hours to rest. For the meantime, we gotta stick together, you know, with the titans stalking about during the day. We'll set out as soon as the sun sets." Eren suggested. Annie couldn't help but examine Eren more curiously, more thoroughly. He was quite the leader; then again, since he was the one who dragged everyone out here, it should be his job to lead and make sure everyone is safe. Annie noticed how the sun highlighted his prominent features; broad shoulders, (but not as wide as Reiner's) skinny, but muscular limbs, and a messy mop of chocolate hair.

Huh. It has streaks of black? Never noticed that before...

Tilting her head to the side, she also noticed how Eren's normally hazel eyes glowed a golden brown in the morning light. His lips curved down in a determined arch, a small dimple resting on his left cheek, adding the tiniest imperfection to his otherwise heavenly looking face. Somehow, that just made him all the more adorable. Reiner caught Annie staring and solemnly muttered, "Leonhardt, I need to talk with you. Now."

With a sigh, Annie complied. She followed Reiner to a small clearing only acouple meters away and hissed, "What do you want?"

Reiner glared at her and spit, "You're not developing feelings for Eren, are you?" Annie's cheeks flushed as she replied hastily, "Of- of course not! Besides, it would never work out between us... That is, if he finds out who I am..."

The large blond slammed his head into his hand and muttered, "Oh god... Oh god, no... No no no! Who are you and what have you done with Annie? Have you forgotten the mission?! You're a Warrior, for Christ's sake! "

For his insolence, Reiner received a hard left hook to his cheek. "You know damn well I'm the most committed to this mission! I want to bring Eren back to the village just as much as you and Bertolt do! Just... Give me some time, okay?"

A smirk grew on Reiner's face as he misread Annie's indignant. "Ah, I see what's going on... Going to gain his trust before we capture him, eh? Gotta say, that's good thinking, Annie; that'll make it all the easier to bring him back. Besides, he's my friend, and I don't want to hurt him... But..." With a thoughtful tap on his chin, Reiner inquired, "What will we do with Sasha and Connie?"

Annie bit her lip, almost drawing blood. She regretted having to say it, but those two needed to be eliminated. They'd just be liabilities, mere obstacles in her mission to capture Eren.

But do I really want to betray him like this? After what he's sacrificed just to help me? Besides... If we can find whatever is in his basement... If it's really so important...

Annie nearly slapped herself. What was she thinking? There was only a slim chance everyone would make it to Shiganshina alive, and a slimmer chance still that they'd actually find something of use in Eren's basement. It wasn't worth the risk.

The female Shifter's eyes grew cold with determination. "You know how Titans seem to be attracted to us?" Reiner nodded, not really understanding the question. "They'll sniff us all out eventually. Then we can knock Eren out and leave Connie and Sasha to die. Pretty foolproof."

Reiner's head bobbed up, then down almost imperceptibly, but Annie still caught it. "Okay... Let's do it."

sorry it took so long to finish this chapter, everyone... And sorry it's so short. I don't exactly have too much time on my hands right now; i have 4 tests to study for and a research paper to finish. Anyway, I tried to make as best a cliffhanger as I could. Enjoy!
