Chapter 12
A few minutes after taking off the tardis lurched. We were all sent sprawling. "Dad?" I asked fearfully, grabbing onto the handrails. Fred and Martha did the same, sending my father and I looks of terror. The tardis lurched again, the entire frame shaking.
"Hold on everyone!" Dad shouted, lunging for the controls. I jumped forward and tried to help stabilize the still shaking Tardis. I glanced at the screens, but they gave no conclusive data. We were flying blind.
"Daad!" I shouted again, and his eyes finally snapped to mine. I could see in that brief moment that he didn't know what to do either.
Suddenly the shaking stopped and we touched down, wherever and whenever we were, softly. Dad and I let out shaky breaths and turned to the others with confident grins. Timelords' could not let their companions worry. "That was quite a ride," Dad commented helping Martha to her feet and leading her to the door. I walked over to Fred, pretending that my legs didn't feel like gelatin.
He stood and brushed of his pants, shooting me a smirk that made my heart palpitate a little faster, "Is it always like this with your old man?"
I stifled a laugh and whispered to him, "Don't let him hear you say that, he might just leave you in the Jurassic era, or on another deserted planet."
He looked concerned for a moment, but soon barked out a laugh when he saw I was kidding. I bumped him playfully with my shoulder, causing him to laugh and wrap his arm around my shoulders to pull me close. My cheeks flamed a bit, as I was still not quite so used to this kind of affection.
"You two might want to take your shoes off and roll up your trousers!" My dad called back to us, his shoes already in hand and his trousers rolled up to his knee. With a glance at Martha I saw she was in the same position, but scowling at Dad. Serves him right, ha-ha. He must have landed us in a lake, again.
I remember mother was quite cross when he took all of us on that vacation to Azurea. Beautiful planet of nothing but beaches and ocean, though pretty one couldn't wander out to far into the water as predatory beasts like to stick close to the shore. I shook the thought away knowing the painful ones that occurred shortly after.
Besides, now was not a time to dwell on the past. This was going to be a fun, bonding trip for all of us. So with shoes and hand, trousers rolled up, slightly uncomfortably to our knees, Fred and I exited the tardis. We had landed on a small outcropping of rocks a few meters from shore we waded up to shore and shook our legs dry.
Fred began to roll his pant legs down and look back at the lake. "This looks like the lake at Hogwarts," he muttered more to himself, eyebrows furrowed slightly.
I glanced at him, and let out a giggle, "That's because it is, silly."
He jerked upwards and quickly turned in a circle, looking for the Hogwarts castle. "Where…"
He was cut off by my dad shouting at us from a ways ahead, "Oi! No flirting on this trip you too!"
"I will make no such commitment," I retorted back playfully. Martha just shook her head at us, smile touching her lips.
"You lot! Don't move! Who are you?" Four figures were then stalking down on us, wands raised threateningly. We raised our hands to show that we were unarmed, though Fred did step forward slightly, to shield me from them. My heart cooed in admiration, but Fred didn't know who we were dealing with.
The one who had shouted was a large, powerful looking man with bright red hair that resembled a lion's mane. Dad then introduced us in the most amiable manner, as to help break the tension. "I'm called the Doctor, this here is Martha Jones. My daughter Kali is over there along with her friend Fred. We really don't mean to cause you any trouble."
I then stepped forward and took out my wand, "We're wizards and witches like you." The remaining man and women looked skeptical, but one of the women lowered her wand, her black hair and golden-hazel eyes warm. She nodded towards the red-haired man. He then nodded towards the other two, a man with platinum blonde hair and green eyes, and a woman with brown hair and blue eyes. These two remained silent, but still looked rather skeptically at us.
At least they weren't threatening us anymore.
I scanned over the founders of Hogwarts, as that was who they are, though they haven't founded the school quite yet. I scanned around the rolling hills, the sky overcast setting a dark overtone of the area. Beyond a few hills was the black line of the forbidden forest, where I could spot a few light glowing. Fires, or rather torches, as they moved.
Suddenly several harsh voices rang out, "Find the Witches!" "Burn them!" "Capture the witches!"
The four founders jumped, eyes widening in fear. Dad raced forward and grabbed Helga Hufflepuff's hand, and shouted "Run!"
I grabbed Salazar Slytherin's hand and pulled him forward, shooting him a reassuring smile. He looked surprised, but didn't resist as everyone raced back to the tardis. It took some coercing to have them enter the lake, and then the tardis, but soon enough we were all inside.
The four founders stared around father's consul room in awe, "What kind of magic is this?" Rowena Ravenclaw asked Dad, eyes wide with curiosity. Dad leapt into a longwinded explanation that this was not magic, but instead science. The others listened half-heartedly, looking more dejected than anything.
"Won't they find us in here?" Salazar asked darkly eying the front door.
Father huffed, grinning, "I'd like to see them try."
I turned to the founders, still receiving confused looks from Fred and Martha, I would explain later.
"So why are they after you?" I waved a hand, "besides the fact that your wizards and witches."
"All magic is forbidden and looked upon as the devil's work!" Godric Gryffindor growled, hands curling into fist and voice bellowing in rage, "They caught us performing magic to save our families but…we were the lucky ones."
"But we all didn't make it," Salazar choked up finishing the hanging thought.
Rowena then stated calmly, "The Wizarding population is declining quickly due to those Muggle Witch Hunters." Despite her calm voice and appearance, a fire of emotions burned in her eyes.
"It's just not fair!" Helga shouted, the tip of her wand glowing slightly. "They killed my brother for fixing the broken bone of a child that had fallen out of a tree."
Rowena laid a comforting hand on Helga's shoulder. Helga stifled her rising tears and smiled gratefully at Rowena. Each of them had a fire burning in their eyes, but not of hate, just of determination. Though Salazar's eyes contained a bit of something else, an emotion I could not place.
"Well, why not start a school to teach young wizards and witches how to perform magic safely? Teach them how to protect themselves," I prompted, "You could hide the school with many protective enchantments and make it unnoticeable to muggles. They could be protected there."
They all stared at me shocked, as if the thought had never occurred to them. Godric and Helga sprouted grins that reached ear to ear, while Rowena began mumbling to herself about classes, and which book would be best to have. Salazar gave a small, confident, yet also cocky smirk and watched Rowena carefully. Thoughts raced behind his eyes, obviously forming plans of his own.
After several minutes the four looked at one another, all clothed in black robes, and nodded to each other. Yes a school that would protect the young upcoming witches and wizards from the cruelty of muggles, all while teaching them proper magic, was a wondrous idea. They needed to set this plan into action right away. They would go and gather as many elves and witches to help aid in construction of such a school right away.
They thanked us all in turn, before leaving after the hoard of muggles had left after the sun had finally set. Dad and I maneuvered the tardis to let them off on dry ground. They waved us farewell once more and disappeared into the night.
"They're gone," I muttered watching their figures vanish from the monitor screen.
"So they were…" Fred left the question hanging.
I adjusted some of the settings, to make sure we had a smooth take off, not looking at Fred. "The founders of Hogwarts," I stated plainly. I was laughing on the inside, purposely teasing him.
From my peripheral vision I saw him gaping, face paling a little. "And you…"
"Suggested the foundation of Hogwarts? Yes."
Fred gaped wider, and I burst out into laughing giggles. Fred scowled at me, then sent me an affectionate smirk. He rubbed my head, messing up my hair in just the way I hate and love. I glared at him then giggled a bit more.
"Oi! I thought I said no flirting!" Dad yelled, throwing the tardis into flight.
Sorry about taking so long to write this. I just had a major writers block with this chapter , I do know where I am going with this, but that is further on. Thank you for reading this, and as always your critique is welcome.
