FAKE FRIENDS: Would knock on your front door
REAL FRIENDS: Walk right in and say 'I'M HOME!'
"Hi mom," Star greeted as she walked through the door. She put down her school bag, letting out a sigh of relief of not having the weight of the bag anymore. The familiar aroma of chocolate cake entered her nostrils, and she let out a giggle. "Trying out a new creation, mom?"
"Oh, hi sweetie!" her mother chimed, appearing in front of her daughter. Star chuckled at her mother's appearance; she had batter splattered on her apron, flour on her jeans and her chef's hat had a smear of chocolate frosting on it. Her mother chuckled as she saw her daughter eyeing her up and down. "I let your brother help me with the baking today."
Star giggled, "I see." Star broke out into a grin, "What's the cake for?" She asked playfully as she made her way to the kitchen. She picked up an apple from the fruit bowl, being careful not to stand in patches of batter, and headed to the front room, taking a take-out menu from the countertop as she walked away. Her mother returned to the kitchen.
"Your birthday party tomorrow, silly!"
Star giggled, "I knew that."
Her mother blushed, "You're so mean to your darling mother, Star!"
Star chuckled as she skimmed through the menu, deciding what she wanted.
Suddenly, the door swung open.
"Hi, Mom!"
Star chuckled as she heard her best friend. She stood up, putting the takeout menu and went to go greet Sam Manson.
Star's mother chuckled, "Hi there Sam." The girl was almost like her second daughter.
Sam waved, before skipping over to her best friend, "Hi there!"
"To what do I owe this honour?" Star chuckled, interlinking her arm with Sam's.
Sam grinned, "I want pizza. Plus, it's your birthday tomorrow. I'm staying here for the night!"
Star rolled her eyes, "You act like you don't come here enough."
Sam chuckled, "Shut up."
This was really short…
