Blood ran down my stinging hands into the water being used to scrub the seemingly spotless floor of Lord Aizen's palace. There were five other girls on their knees throughout the throne room with me, all their hands likely as chapped and broken as my own, stinging as the cleaning substance mixed into the water slipped between the cracks on our previously flawless skin.
I am not a vain woman. However, I am not clueless about what my looks do for me. Aizen would not have elderly or unattractive women scrubbing his floor as he walked through the room at least a dozen times a day. The woman looking over us to make sure our jobs are being carried out correctly, Nel, was the very definition of eccentric. The woman practically ran on the fruit left vicariously throughout the throne room.
Speaking of which, she was currently laying in the middle of the room, the only place we had yet to scrub down with a yellow pear clasped firmly in her hand as she stared up at the ceiling, giggling and growling in much the same way Ichigo had after he arrived back from his final trip with his mother and Karin without the two.
The other five girls all gave me a pleading look, Nel like me for some reason and none of the other girls felt like asking her to move so we could finish up our jobs for the day.
As I stood, doing my best not to notice the relieved sigh pass through the other girls lips the whole room turned pitch black for an instant before things became normal again. None of the other girls seemed to react to the change so I assumed it to just be me and strolled over to Nel, kneeling down near her hip and glancing up a her face.
"Nel," I called softly, watching as her eyes snapped opened and focused on me.
"Hey, Hime," she responded, slightly withdrawn with a grin.
"We need to,"
The room flashed black again followed by uncountable voices all talking at once overpowered by one voice I couldn't understand.
"…to clean there," I forced out.
The room turned black again and the voices increased in volume as the one voice, a male's, Aizen's as I could now tell, shouted. 'How is there a tamer I don't know about!'
"Orihime," Nel demanded suddenly, "are you ok."
I opened my mouth to respond, keeping a sweet smile on my lips.
The room was black again, the voices were there, and there was Aizen arguing with a hissing voice I couldn't understand. Then I was so cold it burned and I couldn't feel my hands.
"I'm…" I focused on reality, "fine. Would you mind moving please Nel, we need to move on."
The eccentric woman nodded, not convinced, but stood nonetheless and allowed us to continue the work.
The room was pitch black. None of the extra voices spoke.
"Not only have you missed a tamer, you also missed a prophet."
I did not return to the light room I had previously been scrubbing.

'Come off it,' Pantera growled.
'I like his eyes, there's nothing else to it,' I defended. I was stuck on babysitting duty of our Empire's 'future.'I don't understand Aizen sometimes.
'Not admitting a drive is unbecoming of you Grimmjow, you should be more honest with the one with the ability to control what you see at night," She growled.
I opened my mouth to tell the stupid dragon I didn't have 'drives,' when a voice piped up from behind me.
"Is she pretty?" a little girl asked inquisitively, cocking her head to the left as she asked.
"Who?" I grunted, humoring the short kid.
"The lady in your head," she stated as if it were obvious, cocking her head to the right.
Pantera cackled in my mind enjoying the attention. 'What's this kid look like?' my dragon demanded, mirth evident in her voice while I reeled in shock.
'That's not important! Just use a spell to look if it interests you so much.' I snapped mentally.
"I'm not sure I know who your talkin' about kid," I added to the child, covering all my bases.
'There's an old Arabic spell to do that but it's for advanced dragons years above my skill level. Describe the child to me.'
'No, shut up and go away.'
"Shiro could do it, he did it when we got separated," the girl stated with a light smile.
"Did what?" I asked, about ready to demand to be moved to troop training so I could punch someone. I was not used to having two conversations at once.
"The spell used when you're inside your own mind to see out to the world. Shiro did it earlier," the kid then proceeded to walk off, her fair hair gleaming in the sunlight.
"Well that was disturbing," I stated to no one particular before walking away.

I entered the meeting room with all my beast tamers seated silently, thinking about what to say when I asked for reports on the Empire.
"How have things been today?" I asked simply, slowly seating myself at the head of the table as a girl I did not recognize walked in with my tea.
"Suitable housing arrangements for those leaving slavery this year have reached the 75% mark as of today," Starrk stated, his booted feet resting on the purple marble table.
'Remind a slave to clean here tomorrow morning,' the voice muttered in disgust.
"The dragon young are picky about who the bond with this time around," Baraggan stated, "they have killed every single one of our troops found capable to bond."
"Give me a number," Aizen stated, annoyed with the lack of results.
"Four hundred twenty-eight."
"Try again tomorrow," I stated, there were more where they came from.
Baraggan nodded silently.
Halibel straightened up in her seat before offering her report. "The proper amount of women have been found to leave slavery with the men and become their wives." Halibel hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Might I suggest finding someone else slightly more suited for this job to take over."
"Halibel," I said, allowing sympathy to coat my voice, "the women do not do the same manual labor as the men do. They also have no contact with the women we have here as their jobs are separate. We also must keep our size tight and not over populated; if we give our men coming out of slavery a wife we then have only one house to build for two people and a woman escapes slavery. I need your expertise on this job."
She did not react to my words, only nodded absently.
"One of my girls passed out today, she is awake now and fine and will return to work tomorrow," Nel stated before biting into a plum.
"The one who usually serves my tea?" I asked, feeling smug when most of the eyes turned to the strange woman who they had not noticed as being different before.
"Yes, she'll be back at work tomorrow."
I nodded simply.
"Kids are boring and don't stop taking," Grimmjow muttered.
"Is that all Grimmjow?" I prompted
He nodded simply.
Both Nel and Grimmjow seemed to be omitting pieces of evidence from me but I let it slide and turned my gaze to Yammy as he began all but shouting about how troop training went.

A/N: This was done in one sitting while listening to whatever popped up on Spotify so I'm sorry for any spelling and/or grammar mistakes and you should inform me of them if they arise or/and bother you.
Two questions of updates today to encourage reviews:
Favorite flavor or anything? I personally LOVE lime flavored things and could eat them all day.
What manual labor job should Ichigo be stuck in? I had a plan but my fingers and brain were like "Lol, nope" and so I don't know anymore but Ichi needs a job and I'd love the feedback.
Review because it makes me feel special.
