Alright, after careful consideration of whether I would be able to complete a full chapter without failing myself and yelling in hysterics I have decided to add a- I guess you could call it- Bonus chapter to this small story. Many of you have requested and asked (dare I say, begged?) me to write about Teddy's reaction upon discovering that his father was in fact Remus Lupin. I have decided now, in attempt to overcome my 'writers block', to post a chapter about the dearly beloved family's reconciliation. And so, dear readers, I present the 'missing' chapter for you all to read and I wish a very happy new year.

Yours dearly,
TheMaraudersAreUpToNoGood

A few mere days after Teddy Lupin reached the age of four a strange man appeared on the door step of his house. The stranger was tall, quite so, his head nearly having to bow to fit through the doorway, and his clothes seemed a little too large for his lanky figure. His face was that of a shocked expression, one Teddy did not understand as the man came intentionally to their home. Teddy had peered out from behind his mother's legs, staring at the strange man and struggling to come to a conclusion whether he liked him or not.

Later the young boy realised that the man wasn't so bad and that he quite enjoyed his smile. He also came to know the man's name as Remus Lupin, which was funny since Teddy noticed they shared the same last name.

The next time Teddy saw the man again was at his Uncle Harry's and Aunty Ginny's engagement party, where the man had continuously stared at Teddy's mum. Teddy had thought nothing of it, of course, since he came to like Remus quite a bit. He was shy, just like Teddy, and so Teddy decided that Remus Lupin would be his friend.

The third time Teddy saw Remus Lupin was the day after the engagement party, where Remus was once again standing on the door step of their home.

"Come in Remus," his mum had beckoned with a gentle smile, holding the door wide open." I've just made some tea and breakfast. It's almost ready if you would like some."

"Uh no, thank you," Remus replied, gracefully removing his shoes once the door was closed behind him." I had breakfast at the Burrow."

Teddy didn't give them another chance to continue talking to one another as he interrupted excitedly about his new broom." Mummy said she would teach me how to fly today. Do you know how to fly Remus?" he asked, his words speeding from his small four year old mouth. He was practically jumping on the balls of his feet with excitement.

"I know a little, yes," Remus smiled.

Teddy smiled back before beginning a long and animated tale about how he acquired the Brilliant gift and how he planned to become a quidditch star once he was accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He barely stopped to neither eat his pancakes nor drink the juice his mum placed before him on the table.

The visits continued so forth for many weeks, Remus appearing at their doorstep before they would continue on some sort of activity for the day. Teddy really began to grow attached to this humble man who let him ride on his back when they went out for picnics or play hide 'n seek with him and his mother. Teddy would even go as far as to say that the man was his best friend, although his mum would forever be his first best friend. Even when Victoire Weasley visited Remus would be there also, painting with them or being silly.

It was on Teddy's sixth birthday when the news was finally revealed to him. Up until then Teddy would never have guessed what they had told him the day after his birthday as he had been quite dense on the subject. He had accepted that he would never see his father, or get to know him, and that the same would be said about his father. However, he could not have been more wrong.

The day had begun like any post-birthday day, the sun peeking through the curtains that didn't quite reach the centre of the window and therefore bothering Teddy as the light insistently tried to wake him. He rolled over and yanked the covers over his head with a theatrical groan when his feet became exposed at the end of his bed.

With little enthusiasm Teddy swung his legs out from beneath the covers and sat up, a hand running through his brown, bed messed hair sleepily before scrubbing with his fists at his closed eyes. His bare feet thudded along the carpet as he sleepily made his way towards the kitchen, his hands bracing himself against the walls so that he didn't knock into any furniture. His mum did that enough without him adding to it.

Soft voices floated out of the kitchen, muffled slightly by the half closed door. Teddy approached quietly, his feet tiptoeing him closer to the doorway so that he went undetected. The voices continued and Teddy immediately recognised them as Remus and his mother. He pushed gently at the door and stepped forward into the kitchen, the conversation halting once he was seen.

His mother leaned back from Remus and smiled at him." Good morning Teddy," she said, moving towards the stove." Do you want your favourite for breakfast?"

"Mmmm," Teddy replied sleepily, walking past a smiling Remus to plop himself down at the table.

"Good morning, Teddy," Remus greeted, moving to seat himself at the table beside Teddy.

"Mmmm," Teddy replied again to which Remus chuckled and his mother reprimanded.

"Proper words, Teddy," she said.

"You weren't much different, Dora, you can hardly blame him. He is your son after all," Remus said to Teddy's mum who smiled back at Remus with a knowing look. Teddy's brow furrowed; he didn't like adults having 'secret' looks.

Minutes later his mum had place the pancakes before him, covered with a copious of maple syrup. He thanked her with another 'Mmmm' before picked up his fork clumsily and shovelling the food into his mouth messily.

So enraptured with his food Teddy didn't notice his mother joining himself and Remus at the table and therefore was slightly surprised when his mother spoke his name softly from such a close proximity.

"Teddy," she said, her hands cradling a tea filled cup and her eyes locked on his." Remus and I have something very important to share with you. I want you to know that if you are feeling uncomfortable or want to leave at any point you can get up and go, you don't have to stay, but it would be nice for you to stay. Okay?"

Teddy stared back at his mum mid-chew before nodding in consent and swallowing the contents of his mouth.

"Teddy, for years I have told you that you wouldn't be able to see your dad, because he was always busy, but I did tell you that he cared about you very much," at this she glanced up at Remus before resting a hand on Teddy's shoulder where it cradled his neck and cheek." Your father is a very brave and important man, and he wants you to know that you mean everything to him."

Teddy's face had gone blank and he glanced at his now neglected pancakes. Why was his mum being like this? Why was she looking both happy and sad? The whole ordeal was confusing Teddy greatly and he shifted in his seat under both his mother's and Remus' gaze.

"Now you're father has done some silly things too, in his life, very silly things. But he's sorry, he is oh so very sorry for doing those things," again she glanced up at Remus who nodded back, his eyes shining. This just continued to confuse Teddy even more.

"Teddy, you're father does want to know you. In fact he wants to get to know you much better and he wants to be there for you." At this Teddy's eyes snapped back to his mother and a crease appeared between his two delicate eyebrows.

"He loves you very much Teddy, and that is why he is here to tell you himself," his mum smiled at him through tears, tears that were brimming against her eyelids." Remus and I want you to know that…. He is your father Teddy, he is your Dad."

With bated breath from each one of them the room fell silent, the only noise that consistent ticking of the clock. Teddy glanced down at the hands clasped in his lap and then again at his pancakes that had by now gone cold before turning to focus on Remus. The man who had once been strange standing on their doorstep stared down at him with red cheeks and a sad yet happy smile. Teddy's brow creased once more. How could someone be both happy and sad at the same time?

"Hello Teddy," Remus whispered, his voice hoarse and croaky.

Teddy didn't utter a word in reply, instead he slipped from his chair, his bare feet once again on the floor before he turned and walked quietly from the room. If he had glanced back he would have noticed the broken look of the man and the stunned silence of his mother. But no, Teddy was in a haze. His feet carried him forth to his room, his face void of emotion as he sifted through his things. He didn't know what to feel, being only six. He didn't know how he was supposed to feel.

But as Teddy crawled towards his bed on his hands and knees to search under his bed he knew that it didn't matter. His daddy was finally there. Actually his daddy had been there for a long time.

His small hands grasped onto a cardboard bow the size of a kettle, removing it from the darkness beneath his bed. Contents rolled around inside as he stood once again and walked back towards the kitchen. When he arrived the room was still silent, just the way it had been when he had left. He approached Remus, his dad, with the box in hand where he placed it in front of the sad man, conscious of both their gazes on him.

Taking a breath he spoke," will you read me a bed time story tonight?" to which Remus immediately nodded, his eyes transfixed on Teddy. The little boy nodded in return." Will you play Quidditch with me on Mummy's broom?" again Remus nodded." Will you take me to Diagon Alley when I ask?" more nodding." And we will still be Best Friends?" to this his mum cried a light chuckle, her hands clasped over her mouth. Remus nodded.

"Okay," Teddy spoke, before pushing the box to Remus, his dad, and holding out his small fist with his little finger extended. "Promise?"

With a shaky hand his father reached forth with his own little finger, locking them together."Promise."

Teddy smiled.

Many hours later, once the sun had set on that very memorable day, Remus returned to the table where the box still sat. With a happy heart that thudded softly within the confines of his chest he pulled the contents from the box, one by one.

A photo, of Teddy and Nymphadora that contained a stick figure drawn with a permanent marker and labelled "Daddy".

A letter, written in a messy scrawl that was barely readable.

And a wedding ring, the wedding ring of one Remus Lupin.

I must say, that I have to congratulate myself upon writing this as it is the first full story that I have written in the time of a year. But with a mug of tea at my side, music in my ears and your lovely reviews on my mind I was able to complete this chapter. And therefore I must thank you, Dear readers.

If any of you would like to keep in touch (I fancy myself an internet friend) then follow me on Tumblr (make sure you write to me so that I know who you are and can follow you back), my url is Severuhs.
