So moving kinda sucks. I've been spending the last two months driving 4 hours home every weekend in order to get our house ready for sale. That's 8 hours of driving every weekend! I probably won't be writing for a while still. I will do my best to not be so quiet anymore but I can't guarantee that I will be able to update regularly. Still I want to keep writing.

I have not given up on this story or any of my other stories.

I hope you enjoy.

I Do Not Own Danny Phantom

Sam's combat boots beat against the cracked and crumbling sidewalk as she ran down the street that had been blown open by some random extoblast a few days back. Broken glass from a blown out window crunched under her shoes. Upon finding a dark alleyway she ducked into it.

The darkness of the alley surrounded her. It pressed in and set the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. The silence of the night was oppressive.

"Phantom." She whispered.

The white and black clad boy became visible at the call.

"Hey" He said as he moved over towards him. "Where's Tucker?"

"He's sick. He's hacking up mucus and everything." She explained.

Phantom scrunched up his face in disgust.

"Lovely. So it's just us tonight then? Do you have everything for tonight?"

"Yep" She responded and pulled out a rather impressive ecto bazooka from her purple backpack. "Ready?

He gave a goofy crooked smile and his eyes flashed in amusement.

"We'll start in the park and work our way down town."

"Sounds good to me." She responded.

The two of them then stealthily made their way towards the park. They took back alleys to avoid the blasted open streets. Cement dust lingered in the air and caused Sam to cough a little. Eventually they could move no further because of another destroyed street with no way around it in sight. They gaping hole in the ground opened up into the sewer. The stench of the contaminated water permeated the air.

"Come on, I'll carry you over." Said Phantom.

"What!?" Sam said slightly panicked.

Without another word he swept her into his arms. A little disoriented, she wrapped her arms around his neck. In one swift movement he took to the air and glided across the chasm. Shortly after he took off he landed one again. With a spring in his step he began to walk the rest of the way to the park. A small smile was on his face.

Sam's heart was pounding rapidly in her chest. A warm feeling was working its way through her body. It started at her chest and moved to her entire body, from her head to her toes.

"Um… you can put me down now." Sam said awkwardly from his arms.

"Hm?" he responded half paying attention.

It took about two seconds before his brain properly processed what she had said.

He them promptly dropped her from shock.

"Ow! What the hell!" she shouted as she got up and rubbed her backside.

Both of the teens had cherry red faces. Phantom's face was red because he felt like an idiot for forgetting to put her down and for having held her in his arms for so long. Sam's face was red from her anger at being dropped and embracement for enjoying being in his arms.

Both were thankful for the cover that the darkness of the night provided.

"C Come on. We should get started." Phantom said as he walked past her and would not meet her eye.

Without a word Sam followed after him.

Upon arriving at the park entrance they stopped.

"Ready?" He asked the human girl.

She clutched the ecto bazooka tight while it whined as it charged up.

"Ready"

"Go" he whispered into her ear as he vanished.

As silent and graceful as a cat Sam made her way into the park. She made no sound and moved swiftly. She held herself confidently knowing that even though she could not see him Phantom was by her side but froze the instant dark laughter meet her ears.

"Phantom?" she asked.

"I'll take a look. Wait here" He responded.

Then he was gone.

Without his invisible presence the darkness was no longer her friend. It began to feel oppressive. Every rustle of branches or small animal that ran by made her flinch. The faint cackle of ghosts not too far away put her nerves on edge.

Yet still she waited, just as he told her too.

The darkness continues its torture.

"Sam." Phantom whispered.

She did not shriek or flinch. Instead her reflexes kicked in. Her ecto bazooka was up, charged, and pressed into his chest.

He was visible now. An amused look was on his face instead of fear or shock. A small smirk was on his lips.

"Were you scared?" he asked with a chuckle.

She glared.

With that same amused voice he reported what he found.

"Three weaker ghosts are doing a number on the playground equipment. They should be easy to take care of."

Sam gave him a sharp nod and move in the direction of the playground.

"A Goth that afraid of the dark" he chuckled to himself.

Three green vaguely human shaped blobs of ectoplasm flew chaotically around the playground. All three had a spray can of varying color paint in their hands. They cackled gleefully as they defaced the once beautiful children's play area.

One of the three flew up above the other two in order to observe their work.

As it hung in the air a ectoblast slammed into its back and the ghost crashed into the earth with a loud SLAM. It was out cold.

The other two froze in place.

"All right slime bags, step away from the playset." Sam said as she stepped into their line of sight.

Upon discovering that their opponent was a single human girl they lunged at her.

With a quick dodge roll she was behind them in a flash. She let off the shots in quick secession to one another. Both shots found their mark in the back of the two ghosts. The both of them landed in a small heap on the ground before her.

Unbeknownst to her the first ghost that she had shot down had come around and snuck its way behind her. It slowly and quietly raised its clawed hand.

BOOM!

A bright green ecto blast side blinded the goon and knocked it out.

Sam's head whipped around and came face to face with a smiling Phantom.

"I could have handled it, you know." Sam grumped from his arms as he carried her over the chasm and back towards the Fenton's

He made a noncommittal sound in the back of his throat.

"You said I could take them." She accused.

For just a moment Phantom's grip tightened and his shoulder tensed. He then relaxed and let out an aggravated sigh.

"What was I supposed to do? Let you get hit? I couldn't just sit back and watch."He explained.

Sam looked ready to argue but seemed to think better of it.

In a short amount of time the two of them landed in the alleyway that they started out in. A little reluctantly, Phantom set her down on her feet.

"Same time tomorrow night?" He asked.

"Yep. See you then." She responded.

He turned to leave, but then felt something rap him upside the back of his head. His head jerked and he spun around with wide shocked eyes only to see Sam sprinting out of the ally.

"That was for the comment about me being afraid of the dark!"she called over her shoulder just before she rounded the corner.

His eyes went from shocked to a soft and warm look. He stood there for a moment with a soft smile on his lips.

Did you like it? I'm trying really hard not to rush Danny and Sam's relationship. I want to take my time with it and let it grow. I hate it when people are like "well they've know each other for three chapters. They're in love!" That kind of thing really wares on my nerves.

Be sure to review and tell me what you think.
