Here's chapter 9. Right now, I'm not really caring about how many reviews I get per chapter. I want to submit as many chapter as I can because next weekend for Memorial Day, I'll be going camping with my family and won't be back until the following Monday. Besides, I'm enjoying doing this story now because I've been thinking over how the next chapters will be. And I have some big surprises planned that I believe you guys will enjoy. So, I do not own YuGiOh, Hercules or the songs I use here, just the plot twists. Enjoy!

Chapter 9

Against the Mythic Dragon

Arriving in the gorge with Zuberi landing on a cliff edge, Yami quickly dismounts and as he checks on Yugi, he notices that he didn't enjoy the flight. "You ok?" Yami asks as he offers his hand to the smaller teen with Zuberi snickering at the unfortunate teen.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Just help me down." Yugi takes Yami's offered hand, but before he could slide off, Zuberi bucks him off, causing Yami to catch Yugi.

Just then they hear a voice calling out, "Help! I can't breath!" It was a young man.

"Hurry!" A young woman followed after letting out a few coughs. "We're suffocating!"

With the entire city gathered around the area at a safe distance, Yami slides down the slope and runs over to where the voices were coming from, seeing where the young couple is trapped. Leaning down so he could see the two through the small opening, Yami says, "Easy you two. I promise you'll be alright now."

"We can't last much longer, sir!" the girl screams as she appears to be growing weak with each passing second.

"Get us out before we get crushed!" the man yells as the three hear a long hiss.

Examining the boulder that is keeping the couple trapped, Yami found a few weak spots that he can hit with enough force with his shadow powers. Knowing what he must do to help them out, Yami leans down so the two could see him and says, "Ok, I'm going to crush this boulder. I need you two to watch your heads so nothing hits you."

Understanding his instructions, the man holds the young woman against him so he shielded her from any debris. Placing his hands on the weak spots in the front, applying pressure as he send some of his shadow power into the boulder, it crushed and crumbled like cookie, taking out just any other rocks that had fallen in the rock slide. With it being safe now, Yami helps the girl, who has long brown hair, gentle gray eyes, wearing a simple white and gold dress and gold flats, up while the boy, who has long black hair that reach past his shoulders, soft green eyes, wearing a simple tunic and normal sandals, got out on his own. Being impressed of what this guy can do, the Memphians do a light applause.

With the boulder and any rocks that once covered what appears to be a cave entrance, Yami faces the couple and asks, "How are you two doing?"

"We're ok, thanks to you sir." the boy says as he holds his girlfriend close to him.

"Wow, sir, you have such incredible powers." the girl says with admiration.

"Just, try to be more careful next time." Yami starts to wipe his hands clean from any dust they gathered after crushing the rocks.

"We will sir." With that the couple leaves the area. Unknown to everyone in the gorge, the couple just ran up a hidden ramp.

"A stirring performance, you two." the two hear a voice and see Anubis sitting in a stone throne. "I was really moved." However he sounded bored as the two avert back to Andro and Teleia with Teleia laying down with her tail swaying around like a cat and Andro stood beside the throne. "But I give five golden stars to our leading boy. What a dish. What an angel."

Glancing back at the Lord of the Dead for a brief moment as Amethyst rejoin him with the Egyptian mau sitting on his shoulder, Yugi turns back to Yami, silently praying, "Get out of their, Yami, while you still can."

Down in the gorge, Yami runs up to his coach as Bakura and Ryou have finally caught up with the city. "Bakura, you should have seen it. They even applauded, well, sort of."

However, the three could hear a low growl coming from the cave. With Ryou hiding behind Bakura and Yugi starting to become worried, they watch the cave entrance carefully. "I hate to burst your bubble, Yami, but that ain't applause." Bakura says as he held Ryou's trembling hand.

Seeing a set of blue eyes and hearing the growling get louder as the creature inside start to come out, revealing a blue dragon that had some blue fins on the side of its head. As Yami went for his sword, everyone that are in the gorge hear a voice echo throughout the entire area, "HOLD IT!" In seconds, a young man older than Yami by maybe one year, with brown hair, icy blue eyes, a stoic expression, wearing what appears to a be priest of the gods outfit, consisting a tan tunic that reaches just above his knees, white pants held up by a white belt, black flats, a blue robe wrapped around his shoulders that had a medal with the symbol of the gods set in the front. His sudden appearance had taken everyone by surprise but when Jonouchi got a good glimpse at the newcomer, he couldn't stop a blush from appearing on his cheeks.

"Who are you?" Yami asks, finding the older teen somehow familiar as Bakura takes Ryou back to his friends before staying on the sidelines.

"I'll explain later. Right now you need to realize something about this dragon." Having his full attention on him, the teen continued, "The Mythic Dragons have a special ability that allows them to fuse together to form the ultimate Five-Headed Mythic Dragon. If you were to kill one, another dragon will fuse together with the dead dragon. Doing that will not only revive the dead dragon, but they'll be an entirely new dragon. If this dragon has any friends in that cave, then you are going to be in major trouble

"The only way you can defeat them all without them becoming the ultimate Mythic Dragon is by killing them all at once." The newcomer adds as he goes over to join Bakura.

"How am I going to be able to do that?" Yami asks, confused that he has to kill all of them at once if he were to prevent that from happening.

"That you have to figure out on your own." the newcomer replies as he just crosses his arms over his chest.

"That helps." Yami thought to himself, glaring back at the newcomer.

With the water dragon getting ready to attack the teen, Anubis then exclaims as his voice echoes, "Let's get ready to rumble!" with Teleia swaying her tail around in excitement and Andro rubbing his hands together.

Prepared to strike, the dragon approaches Yami who back away, hoping to the gods that this dragon does not have any friends in the cave behind him. The dragon shooting a stream of water at him, Yami uses his shadow powers to shield himself from the water stream. When the stream stopped, Yami quickly swung his sword, causing the dragon to lean back.

Watching from the sidelines, Bakura turns over to the newcomer and demands, "Just who the hell are you?"

"Seto. And I'm actually his cousin." the newcomer put simply.

This introduction greatly surprised the former thief. "But all I know is that his parents are gods. Yami never mentioned anything about any other relatives that are gods."

"Well, back when his name was Atemu, he was only a babe when he was stolen from our home. We are still trying to figure out who did the deed and why." Seto answers, keeping a close eye on the fight as Yami swung his sword each time the Mythic Water Dragon came to close.

Pondering over this new info on his student, Bakura decides to worry about that later as he turned back over to the fight. Just then, the dragon uses its tail to grab Yami's foot, then forced him high into the air before swallowing him whole. As the dragon had clearly enjoyed swallowing the hero, Yugi lets out a loud scream, hoping Yami could still hear him. Just as the dragon went to strike the citizens, he felt something get caught at the base of his neck. Before the dragon could look, the crowd watches as a sword slices through the flesh from the inside with Yami sending the neck flying before the body collapses hard on the ground with Yami leaping out, covered with the dragon's blood.

Glad to see the teen is still alive, the crowd applause louder this time. "All right! Yami one, dragon zelch!" Bakura cheers as Seto just watches with cold eyes and his arms still across his chest.

A little dizzy after being inside the dragon for a brief moment since surprisingly he was able to hear Yugi's scream, Yami walks away from the dead dragon but didn't get too far before collapsing onto the ground, causing Bakura to run over to him, holding a couple fingers over his face. "Yami, how many fingers am I holding up?"

Still dizzy with his vision a little hazy, Yami tries to focus on the fingers. "Four?"

"Eh, close enough. Let's get you cleaned up" Bakura helps Yami to his feet and the two slowly start to walk back to Seto and Ryou who had decided to stay close to Bakura as much as possible.

Seeing the Mythic Water Dragon dead, Andro and Teleia could only become nervous of what Anubis will do to them when they noticed he just had a calm expression on his face. "Relax, you two. The real fight is just getting started." Anubis says as he keeps his eye over the gorge.

Just then, there was another growl from the cave with the next mythic dragon to emerge from the cave is a dragon that is made completely out of fire. Seeing the dead Mythic Water Dragon, the Mythic Fire Dragon just places one clawed hand on the corpse, causing the corpse to react to the touch by moving on its own, with a new head instantly growing back as the two dragons merge into a Fire and Water dragon. To see that Seto was not joking about the Mythic Dragons' ability to fuse with a dead one, Bakura returns to the sidelines with Yami whistling for Zuberi as the two headed dragon sets their eyes on the teen.

Hearing the whistle, Zuberi takes to the sky, soaring down to the ground just enough for Yami to leap onto his back. Taking to the skies while avoiding any snapping jaws, Yami slices through both heads only for the two to see another dragon emerge from the cave, this time being. Mythic Wind Dragon. Yami repeats this process until the Mythic Earth Dragon and lastly the Mythic Dark Dragon emerge and fuse with the dead dragons, creating the Five-Headed Mythic Dragon.

This is hopeless. "Would you forget the head slicing thing!" Bakura and Seto yell at Yami with the albino making the slicing motion with his hand.

Pushing his heel hard into Zuberi's side to get him to go up, the dragons attempt to reach for the two while they Dodgers around the heads, causing them to either wrap around each other or bump into one another, causing the dragons to become confused and annoyed. Just as the two friends are happy to see how well they tricked the ultimate Mythic Dragon, the Dark dragon hit them, knocking Yami off of Zuberi. Falling among the heads, Yami did what he could to avoid getting eaten by any of the heads. Kicking off of one head, Yami grabs at the cliff, only to slide down the face until a dragon hand held him securely in place with the dragons all hissing at the trapped hero.

With the fight coming to a close, Anubis could only smirk at what is now coming. "My favorite part of this game." As the dragons prepare to attack the final blow, Yami for once felt scared for his life. "Sudden death." Anubis adds as he now watches the fight come to a close.

Looking up past his shoulder, Yami knows that there's only one way left to defeat the ultimate Mythic Dragon by using the cliff to his advantage. Waiting for the right moment, with the dragons going in for the final blow, with his hands pressed firmly against the cliff face, Yami presses a great amount of pressure to the face with his shadow powers going up the cliff. With enough gone up, making his hands into fists caused the shadow powers to burst the top of the cliff, causing a great rock slide. The boulders crushing the ultimate Mythic Dragon, Yami uses whatever shadow magic he didn't use on the cliff to shield himself from any debris.

When the landslide stopped what was left of the ultimate Mythic Dragon and Yami was a dragon fist that had settled on the hard ground, the young hero still trapped inside. To see the end of this fight, not only of the dragon's death but also Yami's demise. This had left Bakura saddened just like everyone from the city and Seto thinking to himself, "Now he'll never return home."

Feeling a deeper sadness that is worse than the citizens' for some reason, Yugi glares back at Anubis as he appears to be satisfied with Yami's death as he takes out a cigar and lights it merrily. Just as every saddened heart leaves the gorge, Bakura and Seto hear something behind them. Glancing back over their shoulders, the pair could see the rocks creaking a bit as there is movement coming from the dragon fist. With the two and the crowd gasping that the ultimate Mythic Dragon had somehow survived, with Anubis watching with curiosity, they watch as Yami uses his shadow shield to force the fist open.

To see that their new hero has emerged victorious, every Memphis citizen goes wild as they cheer. To see his friend is still alive, Zuberi does back flips in the air as he joins the crowd in a happy cheer. Stepping out of the dragon hand, Yami notices that everyone is cheering for his victory, causing him to wave. Then Jonouchi, Honda, Otogi and many young males came up to the hero, lift him off his feet and carry him out of the gorge with everyone following close behind.

"Bakura, you got to admit." Yami says to his friend with Zuberi flying beside him and licking his face in pure relief. "That was heroic."

"You did it, Yami!" Bakura cheers as he holds a very happy Ryou beside him and Seto grins that his cousin has come out victorious against such a mighty beast. "You did it! You won by a landslide!"

Seeing that the kid had survived against one of his best creatures, Anubis is now beyond pissed off with Andro and Teleia worried of how he'll take his anger out on them. Grinning at the fact this has made the Lord of the Dead more than furious, Yugi glances back at Yami with a smile. "Well, what do you know?" With Amethyst sitting on his shoulder, Yugi starts to clap as well.

Being carried back to the city with Zuberi flying ahead, Yami glances over his shoulder back to the cliff where he had landed when he, Zuberi and Yugi had arrived to see the younger boy smiling down to him, causing the new hero to smile back.
