Ultradimension Gundam: Memory of Victory
Preview one: Zeheart's Promise
Cover Image: Zeheart holding his control mask as a past picture of himself along with Asemu, Plutia and Noire floats in the background.
After the failed operation at the Moon Base and the unfortunate demise of Girard Spriggan, The alternate Neptune, in her Ghirarga N, a purple mobile suit with four blade-like wings and a rifle tail armed with a two green-bladed Shiguru broadswords carried Zeheart in his damaged Ghirarga safely back to the Fa Zard. When the two made it back to the ship, they retired to Zeheart's office as their mobile suits were repaired. The Fa Zard approached Second Moon and things seemed to be in order, but Neptune was uneasy after seeing Zeheart's battle with Asemu, thinking it was unlike him to be so invested in a rivalry.
"Master Zeheart…" The alternate Neptune, a woman who resembled Purple Heart save for her lilac hair, purple eyes who was dressed in black and white attire called out to the Vagan commander, intent on getting the answers she wanted from him. "Why were you so insistent on fighting that pirate?"
Zeheart turned his attention to alternate Neptune, seeing that she was his most trusted subordinate and that she resembled and even shared the name of one of his closest friends on Planeptune, the Vagan commander had no reason to keep secrets from her. "25 years ago, I was sent to Planeptune to destroy the Federation's base… over the time I spent there, I befriended the CPUs and Asemu Asuno. Asemu was that pirate I fought on the moon." The white haired pilot thought about his past friendships, hiding his emotions behind a calm tone.
The alternate Neptune was surprised; she had no idea that Zeheart was friends with the CPUs and Asemu, who was feared as the Federation's White Devil.
Zeheart removed his control mask and glanced at the alternate Neptune. "My old friendships won't get in the way… I will accomplish Project Eden… no matter who it is I must face." The Vagan commander clenched his fist as he felt the sadness of having to fight people he cared for, but his resolve was almost strong enough to overcome it.
The alternate Neptune placed her hand over Zeheart's trembling fist, now more concerned than ever. "Master Zeheart… I've dedicated my life to your dream." The twin braided pilot gave the Vagan commander a warm and comforting smile. "I'll believe in you no matter what, just like my brother did."
Zeheart calmed down as he felt the alternate Neptune's hand over his, knowing that despite betraying his best friends, he wasn't alone. The Vagan commander saw her as the one person who kept him human throughout Project Eden's final phase, but even that prevented him from understanding and returning her feelings for him.
The alternate Neptune pulled her hand away from Zeheart's, her warm smile still present. "Excuse me." The twin braided pilot gave the Vagan commander a curt bow before walking towards the door.
"Neptune." Zeheart called out to the twin braided pilot in a tone that was far more caring than commanding.
Neptune turned her attention to Zeheart, surprised that he still needed her at the moment.
"Your support is the reason I've gotten this far…" Zeheart voiced his gratitude towards Neptune, his words now revealing his growing dependency on the twin braided pilot's presence. "I am grateful to you."
The alternate Neptune continued towards the door, now hiding her blushing face. "Thank you…" The twin braided pilot smiled to herself as she left the room, touched deeply by Zeheart's praise.
After the alternate Neptune had left the room, Zeheart activated the holographic monitor on his desk and selected the picture of himself, Asemu, Plutia, Noire, Neptune, Vert and Blanc back on Planeptune.
Zeheart reached out to the image of Plutia, the sorrowful look on his face contradicting the resolve he had shown earlier. "There's no going back…" The Vagan commander lowered his hand, he had longed for the return of the days full of love on Planeptune with his best friends and the woman he truly loved, but he knew that Project Eden was his sole purpose in life and even that goal was conflicted. "I have no choice… but to move forward."
After viewing closing the picture, Zeheart played the recording of Kio and Ezelcant's conversation that Asemu had given him during their fight on the moon.
"This is… the true Eden?" Kio's voice spoke with a sense of wonder, the utopic vision that Ezelcant had showed him was absolutely nothing like the failed nation that bore the same name.
"There will be no Federation, Nations or Vagan! I will create an ideal paradise fit only for the superior race!" Ezelcant's words showed both extreme grief and resolve, determined to end the world of conflict that took his son away from him.
Zeheart took Ezelcant's words along with his own doubts with him as he went to see Rei, who had arrived on Second Moon following the fall of the Eden Nation founded by the Seven Sages as a Vagan stronghold on Gamindustri.
Zeheart walked the halls of the Vagan palace until he found Rei's room and there waiting for him, was the Goddess herself. The Seven Sages Leader showed signs of both nervousness and excitement at the prospect of seeing the Ghirarga Pilot after a long time, her cheeks reddening as she played with her fingers.
Zeheart knelt before the Seven Sages Leader as soon as he entered the room. "Lady Rei, I'm honoured that you wish to see me." Despite knowing the Goddess since childhood; he still maintained his professional and respectful demeanour.
Rei approached Zeheart and placed her hand on his shoulders, urging him to look up at her. "Th-There's no need to be so formal with me…!" The Goddess panicked a little before giving the Vagan commander a warm smile, since they hardly got to see each other in person, the Seven Sages Leader valued their time together. "I-I missed you…"
Zeheart looked up at the Goddess' eyes, in them; he saw the same loving expression that Plutia would always give him in the past. "Lady Rei…" Because of his closeness to her, the Vagan commander dropped his cold façade before the former Tari CPU.
Rei hugged Zeheart just like she did when he was a child, knowing that despite her past, the Vagan commander accepted her fully. "I don't know what I would do without you…" The former Tari CPU remembered the days when the Ghirarga Pilot would comfort her with his smile and innocent love for her.
Zeheart hugged Rei back, seeing her as a mother figure and his promise to her as one of his reasons for living. "I… I will accomplish it… the world I promised to you." The Vagan commander swore to the former Tari CPU, despite the doubts he was having about Project Eden.
Rei blushed upon hearing the sincerity behind Zeheart's promise to her. "I know you will." The former Tari CPU held the Vagan commander close to her as she gave him a warm smile. "You're so kind and gentle… and you've always thought about others more than yourself... that why I-I've always been in love with you." The Seven Sages Leader confessed to the Ghirarga Pilot.
Zeheart was surprised to hear that the former Tari CPU's feelings for him extended far beyond familial love. "Lady Rei… I…" The Vagan commander was at a loss, he was unable to find a way to respond to the feelings of the woman who had just confessed to him because of all his doubts and his memories of Asemu, Plutia and Noire.
Rei closed her eyes and leaned in, waiting for Zeheart to kiss her, but the Vagan commander was conflicted between his devotion to the former Tari CPU and his love for Plutia, but in the end, no matter how he felt, he couldn't bring himself to reject the woman who loved him all his life, so the Ghirarga Pilot gently kissed the Seven Sages Leader's lips.
Preview Two: Captain Ash
Cover Image: Captain Ash in his Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound facing Kio Asuno in his Gundam AGE-3 Normal and Noire in her Gundam AGE-2.5 Black Heart.
The Diva had just reached the Sargasso sector of space, but they were attacked by mysterious group of space pirates known as Bisidian and their mysterious leader, Captain Ash. Kio Asuno, Noire, IF and the Seric Abis and his team sortied to defend the ship against the marauders.
Kio, a young boy with mid-length brown hair and blue eyes, dressed in a white and sea-green space suit piloted his Gundam AGE-3 Normal.
Noire, dressed in her black and blue space suit piloted her Gundam AGE-2.5 Black Heart, an upgraded variant of the Gundam AGE-2 with wear parts that were based off her HDD form.
IF, a young woman with long brown hair and green eyes dressed in a white and blue space suit, piloted her Clanche Double Blade,
Seric, a man with shoulder-length brown hair and matching eyes, wearing green shades and a white and blue pilot suit, piloted his Clanche Custom, a sea-green coloured mobile suit with wings and a blue visor. "Be careful! They're coming!" The Abis Team leader warned his allies of the incoming Bisidian mobile suits.
Two G-Exes Jackedges, black mobile suits with skull-themed faceplates armed with rifles that mounted heat bayonets on their right arms and shields on their left and two Shalldoll Rogues, dark grey mobile suits with cannons fixed on their right arms. The new enemies flew into the battlefield followed by the silhouette of a mysterious fighter.
Seric opened up a channel to communicate to his allies. "Four mobile suits confirmed!" The Abis Team leader warned his teammates.
Kio sensed a presence that was strangely familiar coming from the mysterious fighter. "There's one more coming!" The Gundam AGE-3 Pilot's X-Rounder abilities showed him the silhouette of a man with messy blonde hair, blue eyes and a stubble, the mysterious figure was dressed in a ling black coat with a red scarf around his neck.
"Who are you?" Kio yelled out, unable to shake the familiar feeling that the mysterious pilot was giving him.
The fighter transformed into the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound looked like a black and red version of the original AGE-2 with a skull symbol on its forehead and a green lens over its right eye. The mobile suit wielded a lance and its wings had hooked tips and a white mark on its chest.
The Bisidian leader, Captain Ash pointed his DODS Lancer at the Gundam AGE-3 and readied himself for combat. "We meet at last, Kio." The space pirate smirked, as he laid eyes on the mobile suit. "Show your father what you can do!"
Noire saw the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound charging straight at Kio, not wanting to lose another member of her family; she rushed to her son's aid. "I won't let you lay a finger on him!" The CPU of Lastation headed for the combat zone.
"Let's go, Kio!" Captain Ash charged at full speed towards the Gundam AGE-3, intent on tasting his son's abilities in combat.
Kio responded by taking out the AGE-3's beam saber before charging at the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound.
Captain Ash launched the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound's Anchor Shot at the Gundam AGE-3 and ensnared the hand the enemy mobile suit held its beam saber in.
Kio was shocked at how quick Captain Ash managed to ensnare his hand, but before he could do anything else, the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound circled the mobile suit before retracting its Anchor Shot and kicking the Gundam AGE-3 in the back while its pilot was distracted.
Kio's mobile suit was more advanced, but he was completely outclassed in terms of skill compared to Captain Ash, but that didn't stop him from trying. "I won't let you lay a hand on the Diva!" The Gundam AGE-3 then closed in on the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound.
On the other side of the battlefield, the Gundam AGE-2 Black Heart charged at the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound as well with her Shiguru Buster in hand. "Stay away from my son, you pirate!" Noire yelled out, determined to protect her son.
Captain Ash smirked at Noire's appearance, feeling that everything was coming into place. "A family reunion, eh?" The Bisidian leader activated the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound's Flash Eye and the symbol on its chest emitted a blinding light to distract Kio and the CPU of Lastation. "Let me get dressed for the occasion. Raddock! Deploy the Dread Saber wear parts!'
From within the Bisidian ship, the Baronoke, Raddock Horn, a muscular man with grey hair and a full beard, acknowledged Captain Ash's command. "Roger!" The space pirate launched the Dread Saber wear parts.
While the light still blinded Kio and Noire, Captain Ash applied the wear parts to his mobile suit and transformed the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound into the Gundam AGE-2 Dread Saber, a mobile suit with that wielded a Shiguru Saber and had two DODS Pistols hidden under its four black wing binders and two Shiguru Scissor Whips retracted on its forearms.
When the light cleared, Kio and Noire saw the imposing image of the Gundam AGE-2 Dread Saber standing atop a nearby asteroid, wielding its Shiguru Saber in one hand and one of its DODS Pistols in the other.
During the battle, the image of Flit Asuno, an old man with green hair, a beard and blue eyes wearing a dark brown jacket with a fur collar over a brown suit with goggles around his neck, appeared on the screens of both the Gundam AGE-3 and the Gundam AGE-2 Black Heart. "Kio, Noire! Don't let your guard down! The pilot of that mobile suit is probably Bisidian's leader! He's a master pilot who's attacked many Federation ships!" The Gundam AGE-1 pilot warned his grandson and daughter in-law of the threat Captain Ash posed.
Noire suddenly remembered the day she lost Asemu and the report that showed that he went missing after a battle against a group of space pirates who opposed the Federation. "You…!" The CPU of Lastation relived all the grief she felt that day when she it seemed that she was confronted with the ones responsible for her husband's disappearance.
Captain Ash entered a saber fencing stance, though he showed signs of excitement regarding the test he had for Kio, deep in his heart, he regretted meeting his wife and son on the battlefield.
Preview Three: The Stars will never change
Cover Image: Asemu, Zeheart, Plutia, Noire and Neptune stargazing on a hill as lilac flowers blossomed.
It was a starry-skied night over Planeptune and Asemu, Zeheart, Plutia, Noire and Neptune were all stargazing on a hill that overlooked a field of beautiful lilac flowers. All five friends wore smiles on their faces as they enjoyed each other's company.
Plutia smiled and reached out for the stars. "They're so pretty." The first Planeptune CPU was amazed at how bright the sky was at night. "It feels like I can almost reach them."
"You can't do that, silly." Neptune commented on Plutia's statement in her trademark playful tune. "Your hands will get toasted like nice, gooey marshmallow."
"Yeah, they're ok, I guess." Noire smiled up at the stars before glancing at Asemu for a moment, the Lastation CPU then looked away to hide her blush. "Geez, would it kill you to be more romantic? Read the atmosphere you idiot!" The raven-haired girl thought of how dense her childhood friend was being.
Asemu smiled at Zeheart, Plutia and Noire, but a very important thought crossed his mind. "Zeheart and I are going to graduate soon. When we graduate, everyone will go their separate ways, Zeheart will return to his colony and I…" The Gundam Pilot looked down for a moment. "And I'm going to attend military academy."
Zeheart heard what Asemu had said, and as a soldier himself, he could not ignore it. "That's what you decided?" The Vagan spy wasn't sure why his best friend wanted to enter the battlefield when he had such a good life on Planeptune.
Asemu looked down as he thought of what lead him to his current path. "Well, it was more like…" The Gundam Pilot was unsure of how to answer Zeheart's question when he himself wasn't sure if he was making the right choice.
Zeheart looked at Asemu, now knowing exactly why Asemu made that decision. "Doing what your father says yet again?" The Vagan spy knew that his best friend would never put himself in a position where he was trained to fight, so he thought that there was no other answer.
"That's…" Asemu raised his voice, feeling that Zeheart had gone too far, but in his heart, he knew that his best friend's words were true. "It's not like that."
Noire glared at Asemu intently, her memories of Asemu's first battle against the Vagans still as vivid as ever and the feeling of almost losing her childhood friend was almost too much to bear.
"Never mind." Zeheart closed his eyes and looked away, feeling that Asemu's loyalty to his father was not unlike his own towards Ezelcant and Rei. "I'm not one to talk."
"Man, this is super-duper tense…." Neptune could feel the tension in the air, especially from Zeheart's words, knowing that the Zeheart of her world was under the exact same circumstance in the past. "Still, my mate of fate is super cool when he's like that."
Plutia noticed the silence between Asemu and Zeheart as well as Noire's intense glaring. "Cut it out, you two. Don't look so down." The first Planeptune CPU looked at the two best friends and tried her best to calm them down with a smile. "We all had so much fun because you two were here. Thank you."
Asemu smiled at Plutia as her words made him realize that he should value the time he had left with his friends. "Me, too." The Gundam Pilot thought of all the fun they shared.
Zeheart also realized that Plutia was right and that despite his nature as a spy, he had to cherish his time with his friends. "Same here." The Zedas R pilot smiled at the first Planeptune CPU as he too thought of their time together.
Plutia smiled at Asemu and Zeheart before closing her eyes and showing her appreciation for Zeheart and Asemu's presence with a verse from her favourite song.
"As we depart on our long journeys, we carry the memories of these days
When two people have met, they support each other…"
Zeheart looked at Plutia, surprised at how familiar her singing sounded to him. "What's that song?" The Vagan spy asked the Planeptune CPU, curious about the nature of the tune.
Plutia smiled up at Zeheart, happy to see that he was interested in her singing. "It's an old farewell song from an old nation. Do you know this song?" The Planeptune CPU asked.
"I know the tune, but the lyrics I know are completely different." Zeheart told Plutia about the familiar nature of the song she had just sung for him and Asemu.
Asemu gave Zeheart a confused look, not really knowing what Zeheart was saying. "The lyrics? Wouldn't it be another farewell song?"
"The version I know is a lullaby." Zeheart explained the difference of the lyrics to Asemu and Plutia and what they meant for him. "I used to sing it to comfort children."
Neptune smiled happily at what Zeheart had just said. "That means he's gonna be a great dad when we finally do the thing and make babies!" The second Planeptune CPU fantasized about the Zeheart from her world. "He just keeps getting dreamier."
Plutia smiled at Zeheart as she a thought not unlike Neptune's crossed her mind. "Oh, I see. A lullaby…" The first Planeptune CPU giggled at how different the lyrics of the same song were.
Asemu noticed Plutia's giggling and he turned his attention to her. "What?" The Gundam Pilot did not see anything funny about what Zeheart had just said.
Plutia smiled at Asemu before giving her reasons for her reaction. "Well, thinking about how this song connected us to Zeheart, even though he was born up there in the colonies, made my happy."
Noire and Neptune listened to the conversation and both of them felt happy about the friendship they all shared.
Asemu smiled at he looked up at the stars that watched them from afar. "That's right. Even the light from the stars that we're looking at right now was actually emitted many, many years ago. It's travelled a great distance to connect with us. That's why even if we get separated, we'll still be connected somewhere." The Gundam Pilot reached up to the stars. 'Connections between people don't disappear that easily. The future is spun by the threads that connect lives and it's because of that… we'll always stay friends."
Noire blushed at what Asemu had just said, because to her, it sounded like her childhood friend was saying he always wanted to be together with her no matter what. "I-Idiot…!" The Lastation CPU looked away to hide her blush at how poetic the Gundam Pilot was.
"I heard a story like that before when I was a child." Zeheart shared with his close friends a fairy tale he had been told when he was younger. "That the stars in the sky are the wishes of the goddesses and whenever you feel lost or alone, the light from their wishes will guide you to where you truly belong."
Plutia smiled lovingly at Zeheart as she hugged his arm, not caring that Asemu, Noire and Neptune could see them. "Then my wish is up there, right…? My wish that we'll always be together…" The first Planeptune CPU blushed as she held the Vagan spy closer to her.
Zeheart was surprised at the first Planeptune CPU's sudden show of affection "Plutia…" Though he felt the same way about her, the Zedas R Pilot knew that he had been living a lie and that his true identity as a Vagan spy would hurt her if they got any closer.
Asemu smiled at the heart-warming scene between Zeheart and Plutia, but what the Gundam Pilot did not expect was his childhood friend suddenly holding his hand. "Noire?" The Asuno heir looked gave the Lastation CPU a confused look.
Noire blushed as she held Asemu's hand, though she was embarrassed, the raven-haired girl knew it was the perfect time to show her feelings to her childhood friend. "L-Let's just stay like this for a while." The Lastation CPU knew how impossibly oblivious the Gundam Pilot was in regards to her feelings for him, so she settled for the moment they shared.
While still hugging The Vagan spy's arm, Plutia thought of the song they spoke of earlier. "Hey Zeheart, teach us. Teach us the version from your home colony."
"Sure." Zeheart smiled at Plutia as he started to sing the Vagan version of the farewell song.
"As I remember
My distant, distant hometown…."
Zeheart finished singing a verse of the lullaby, a song that connected Gamindustri and Vagan despite the war between the two sides.
Upon seeing how close Zeheart and Plutia were, Neptune couldn't help but think of the Zeheart of her world. "Seeing this lovey dovey scene really makes me miss him." The second Planeptune CPU pouted.
Meanwhile in the Hyperdimension Planeptune, Zeheart was at his office and on his desk were pictures of himself, Asemu and Romary and another one of Neptune. The fallen Vagan leader picked up the picture of the Planeptune CPU before letting out a sigh.
"You miss Neptune, don't you?" Banagher, who was passing by, saw Zeheart holding the picture of Neptune and the solemn look on the Gundam Legilis Pilot's face.
Zeheart turned his attention to Banagher before putting down the picture of Neptune. "Yes, I suppose I do. But knowing that she's safe puts my mind at ease." The fallen Vagan leader closed his eyes as he thought of the Planeptune CPU.
Banagher smiled as he tried to cheer up his friend. "I have faith in Miss Neptune, she'll be back soon." The Unicorn Gundam Pilot thought of all that the Planeptune CPU and Zeheart have been through.
Zeheart smiled, feeling that he had just underestimated Neptune for a moment. "You're right, Banagher. I'll believe in her." The Gundam Legilis Pilot placed his trust in the Planeptune CPU.
Author's Notes: The three part preview of Memory of Victory is done. The first preview depicts the inner conflict Zeheart faces and the struggle he has between his personal own personal feelings and the loyalty he has towards the Vagan cause. Zeheart would never admit it, but the true Eden he desired was already on Planeptune with Asemu, Plutia and Noire. Another struggle Zeheart faces is Rei's deep love for him and since his promise to her is one his two sole reasons for living, he could not bring himself to reject her, no matter how much he loves Plutia. Zeheart is in actuality, a kind and gentle person, but his loyalty to Project Eden and all the people who died for the cause, forces him to fight against who he truly is so that he can honour all the dead by granting what he feels was their most earnest desire.
The second preview depicts Asemu's meeting with his wife and son after 13 years away from home. At first, it seems like Asemu's just toying with Kio and Noire, but he truly cares for them and he doesn't want them to fight in the war that cost him many of his friends and his mentor. Asemu knows how heavy the burden of being a Gundam Pilot is, so he wanted to make sure that Kio was up to the task. When Noire finds out who Captain Ash truly is, she will probably beat Asemu black and blue before crying her eyes out. The Gundam AGE-2DS Dread Saber is based on the Crossbone Gundam X-0 as well as Noire and Asemu's fighting style.
The third preview was written to give readers a sneak peak at how deep the friendship between Asemu, Zeheart, Noire, Plutia and Neptune really is. I chose to preview the singing scene based on Memory of Eden because the atmosphere was perfect for those characters, that scene's influence on the rest of the story will persist and the memory of it will stay with Zeheart even during the story arc set 23 years after his infiltration mission on Planeptune. Mirai no Moyou or Pattern of the Future is a song that suits their friendship perfectly and the sewing references match Plutia. The song will be used throughout the story, like for example, Plutia would sing it to IF, Compa, Peashy and Kio and Zeheart would sing it to Peashy as well when she feels alone. Don't forget to vote in the poll.
A friend of mine managed to dig up the translated lyrics of Mirai no Moyou, so I'm going to share it with you guys. It's a touching song and I the director couldn't have picked a better song for Memory of Eden.
Pattern of the Future
As we depart on our long journeys, we carry the memories of these days
When two people have met, they support each other
We were all born in different places and on different days
None of us is like the other
I'm sure it's this way only so that we may weave the pattern of the future
From far away the stars gift us with their light and the constellations adorning the sky will never change
Let us find a wonderful place to call home so that we may paint our tomorrows together
We're going now, let's go.
By becoming friends and spending time together, memories are laced
It's a thread spun solely to bind one person to another
Although we both experience joy and sadness all the same
The places we travel to will be different ones for sure
So we may share such joy and sadness with each other
And weave the pattern of the future
The timeless stars are watching us right now
Even if we're far apart our memories will last forever
Let's swear upon the sun of the bond we forged today
That we will surely find that place where we must shine
We'll meet again, safe trip
We began our journey on the same day, from the same place,
So there's a world that only we can weave together
From far away the stars gift us with their light
The constellations which adorn the sky will never change
Tomorrow's sun is painted with the pattern of the future
Should we one day ever get to gaze at it together
Let's both say, welcome home
Now to answer my reviewer
Zero Nightmare
Thanks for reviewing my story.
Thanks, I tried to give the Vagan/Tari connection a little depth and more will be seen in the future.
Asemu will find out eventually, but Noire really hated waiting. Zeheart wil eventually become conflicted over it.
When Sadie meets him on the battlefield, even his sadist brother Desil will run away.
Daz is like a second father to Zeheart and wishes for his happiness.
Yes we will, and very soon at that!
Thanks! I'll try my best!
