I was listening to a cover version of Wicked Games by Emika and this is what came out... I don't even know what the hell this is.

R27 if you squint...

Nana knew that she was, perhaps, not the crispest cracker in the box and even a bit oblivious to the things that went on around her but that didn't mean she couldn't see.

Nana was not blind. She knew that Iemitsu was a monster and she knew that Reborn was just the same as he was. They were both murderers that could kill on a moment's notice. She questioned herself countless times—why did you let him near your son if he was the same as that man? She berated herself, beat herself down because she knew Tsuna was afraid of both Reborn and Iemitsu just as she was.

But…

She had to wonder—was it truly fear?

No. Nana was not blind or oblivious. She saw the way Tsuna smiled just a bit brighter when Reborn praised him, the way he eyed the gun with more wary curiosity than horror and fear. She saw the way Reborn willingly dropped his guard around Tsuna despite his training as a hitman and she couldn't help but wonder…

What was her son to Reborn?

It was late one night when Reborn was cleaning his guns and Nana was cleaning the dishes that she finally worked up the nerve to ask. The infant blinked slowly at her before he smirked. "Hn. I see where he gets it from."

That threw her for a loop—gets what from? So she asked.

"You play dumb so well, Maman." Reborn mused, drumming his fingers against the talco weapon in his hand and she fought the urge to dive for cover. Reborn was a monster, wasn't he? "I know the way you look at me—the way you look at Iemitsu. You see me for what I am." His lips pulled back revealing blunt baby teeth. She couldn't help but flinch at the display. It made him seem animalistic despite his adorable appearance. "Tsuna does as well." He couldn't help but say conversationally.

If that was the case then why did he allow Reborn to be so close? Nana would never be so brave… or stupid.

And then Reborn laughed.

"Perhaps you aren't so similar." He mused before reaching for the pieces of his gun and slowly putting it back together. "Tsuna is far more accepting of beasts than you. Even Iemitsu," she flinched at his name, "does not understand acceptance." He tucked the gun away. "You ask me what Tsunayoshi is to me… the answer is both simple and complicated. He is everything and he is nothing." Slowly he stood and made his way back towards the stairs but before he left, he glanced back at Nana and smirked.

Nana gasped… she had heard those sentiments before from the two boys, Takeshi and Hayato, and even, occasionally, from Hibari Kyoya. Was it truly as complex as Reborn said it was? Did Tsunayoshi truly mean that much simply by accepting them? Why? And how did Tsunayoshi do it?

Nana was not blind… but maybe, just maybe, she did not see all that there was to see.

"Tsunayoshi is my beloved Sky."

Owari.
