So, ha. It would be a lie to say this fic wasn't abandoned, because it was. And all sorts of years passed and I stopped watching this show and all my notes kinda sat there. Honestly, there was just one more chapter of plot - Spencer talks to her friends, Paige eats dinner... you can kinda see how it could resolve. My only regret? Not ever getting to publish this Epilogue I wrote.

So, when I got a review this week [a really really nice review!] I dug through my notes and thought maybe it would be worth it to clean up and post:

"So you honestly think he is having an affair?" Spencer asked, propping her phone between her shoulder and her ear as she rummaged through the fridge. Hanna was laying out the case against Caleb.

"You know I aways check his phone. I saw him deleting texts while he didn't think I was watching. I think it's been going on for weeks. Maybe longer," she explained, riling herself up further.

"Yeah, but Caleb has a lot of... ghosts," Spencer said, trying to sound soothing for Hanna's benefit. There was nothing she wanted in the fridge, so she decided to try the freezer. Ice cream. It was a Saturday and she'd just gotten back from a run. If she was going to engage in such an unpleasant conversation, she might as well be eating chocolate. Spencer took the pint and, with a guilty peek around the apartment, she grabbed just a spoon instead of a bowl. Her girlfriend would tease her for this, Spencer being the one with meticulous kitchen rules. But Paige had been making herself sparse today. Spencer tried to shake the thought that something might be wrong, "It could just be another family member coming out of the woodworks. He might just be protecting you," Spencer explained.

"Will you talk about it with Paige?" Hanna demanded.

"I'd really rather not. Paige has been... really busy and stressed this week," Spencer bit her lip. In reality, Paige had been weird, jumpy and off. Spencer figured it was all related to a big promotion she'd been gunning for at work. But, then again, it could be...

"Shit, you think she knows! Spencer, she knows and she's keeping the secret for him! I can't say I'm surprised," Hanna continued in hushed tones, "They're so loyal to each other," she practically sneered. Spencer heard something in the background, "Fuck, he's home. I have to go. I'm going to confront him. After all these years. That bastard. I'll kill him," Hanna said, determined.

"Hanna, wait. Listen, don't-" Spencer tried to get her back to no avail, Spencer threw her phone to the counter once the connection was lost and it landed with a loud clattering. Her stomach twisted and she put the ice cream on the counter after just one bite. She had to talk to Paige.

When she got to the bedroom, it was empty. The bathroom door was closed. It was just as she'd left it an hour ago, except now there was the slight humidity from a finished shower. She strode over to the door and, not hearing water running, pushed it. It clicked open, their faulty lock working to Spencer's advantage.

"Spencer!" Paige started, with outrage at the intrusion. She was sitting on the sink. Her hair was wet, but already up, telling Spencer that she'd been finished with her shower for a while. Instead of real clothes, she'd just put her shorts and t-shirt back on and it was clinging to her still wet body. It was almost as if she was so engrossed in something that she forgot to finish getting dressed. A thing that was quickly thrown behind her back along with her phone. "Spencer! The door was locked," Paige exclaimed, her face flush with anger. Spencer set her jaw. They'd been together for seven years, sharing a space for more than five. Spencer was sure neither had even tried using that lock before. Respecting boundaries was never really an issue in their relationship. Spencer was taken aback.

"What are you doing?" Spencer narrowed her eyes at her now-crimson girlfriend.

"None of your business," Paige set her jaw, hands now behind her back. Spencer watched closely and saw the bicep of her right arm twitch.

"Paige, what is that?" Spencer demanded.

"Like I said, none of your business," Paige tried to say evenly.

Spencer lunged forward and Paige twisted around slipping the object into her pocket. She also grabbed her girlfriend by the waist and steadied her against her own body. Paige was incredibly warm from the shower and she smelled fantastic. Spencer was nearly lulled into compliance by her voice, "Spencer, seriously, drop it," Paige whispered. Spencer couldn't help but be comforted by the strong arms around her. It had been so easy for her to learn how to trust them, she loved how safe they made her feel.

Spencer sighed into her girlfriend and they both leaned against the sink. "Sorry, I'm being paranoid," she said, letting her hands play with Paige's wet hair in defeat. "Were you texting Caleb?"

"Yes," Paige replied, letting out a breath, "why?"

"Just... Hanna is worried about him," Spencer responded, tensing again. She looked down at Paige's phone, wondering about the contents. Paige looked surprised for a second.

"She shouldn't be," Paige said. Spencer nodded, far from convinced. Paige had put down her phone and was now fully hugging Spencer. She started a trail of kisses on the other girl's neck. Paige gave her a little lick there and a made a noise that indicated Spencer was still salty from her run.

"What if we just get back in bed?" Paige asked, leading them out of the bathroom and slipping her hand under Spencer's tank top.

"It's already noon," Spencer responded. Paige was massaging the sore muscles at the base of her back, dissolving her resolve.

"It's Saturday," Paige husked, and soon they reached the bed. Paige pushed Spencer to sit and climbed on top of her. She gripped Spencer's back hard and started kissing her neck. Spencer made the soft moan that Paige expected. But Spencer stopped the next moan with a quick intake of air. She placed her hands gently on her girlfriends forearms, making her stop.

"Paige? What is the thing in your pocket?" Spencer asked.

"I'm just happy to see you, babe," Paige whispered into her ear.

Spencer groaned. "Hilarious." She still was being very serious and Paige's after-bad-joke-grin was short lived. "I really hate mysteries," Spencer said with a sigh.

"It isn't one to worry about," Paige responded. She tipped Spencer's head up to meet her eyes eager to kiss the concern off the girl's face.

"Hanna thinks Caleb is cheating on her," Spencer said.

"What?!" Paige blushed a deep red. Things had clearly gotten way out of hand. "Spencer, he is not cheating. We've been talking about something and it's just... it's just this, okay," Paige said. With that she pulled a small blue box out of the pocket of her pocket. She shifted it briefly in front of Spencer's face before tossed it onto a pile of laundry. Spencer's eyes widened and Paige had to suppress a smirk. "No one is cheating on anyone."

"Paige," Spencer breathed out, her eyes now filling with tears.

Paige's eyes flashed with concern for a second. Spencer never pushed for a step like this, she never would. After seeing Mellissa go through crappy relationships, always thinking the guy she was with was 'the one.' Spencer was all about taking their time and Paige was happy with the meandering path they were on. But it had been seven years. With no birthdays or anniversaries ahead, Spencer knew it could only be one thing. Paige was... had been... fairly confident... "You... do want that, right?" Paige asked, averting her eyes.

Spencer nodded rapidly and smiled through tears that were about to fall.

"I was going to do something special. We have reservations at that rooftop bar- the table you always want. Unless... " Paige trailed off and quirked an eyebrow at her girlfriend.

Spencer could barely breathe, let alone talk, her heart was beating so hard, "Now?" she asked adding a barely audible 'please' at the end.

"Yeah? Um, okay..." Paige started getting excited too. "Okay!" she exclaimed, jumping to her feet, adrenaline pumping. For a second she forgot where she tossed it and stood like an idiot not knowing what to do with her hands. "Right. The basket," she said, rubbing her face roughly with those hands, embarrassed and more than a little giddy. Spencer let out a small laugh.

Paige grabbed the box, bouncy on the balls of her feet. She held it behind her back again and took her place in front of Spencer. Her girlfriend beamed at her.

"Spencer Hastings," Paige started, taking a deep breath. She was in the middle of planning this all out and she had no shortage of ideas for what she wanted to say. "The last seven years with you have been the best of my life," she said, she knew that much of her speech already. Paige was shaky, both girls noticed at the same time, so when Paige moved closer, Spencer grabbed the front of her t-shirt and pulled her back into a straddle on the bed.

"It's been a ride. The best ride. You've been my home. And.." Paige shook her head, she couldn't believe she was fucking this up so badly. "And I love you, and..." Spencer knew she should be quietly sitting on her hands, but she couldn't help but push them into Paige's hair and pull the woman into a kiss. Paige realized she was happy that she was messing this up so badly. "I love you and you're it," said before Spencer pulled her into another kiss, "being with you is like the best part of summer; that feeling is my whole life," Paige said, their faces close together, "will you marry me?" she whispered, voice hoarse with emotion.

"Yes." Spencer kissed her again, biting her bottom lip. "Yes. Yes. Of course, yes," Spencer repeated pulling them both back until they were laying down. Paige beamed at her before kissing her deeply. She trailed wet kisses down the girls neck, biting her prominent collar bones, quickly slipping her running shorts and underwear off in one motion. She continued kissing and biting her way down Spencer's body.

"Paige... Paige wait," Spencer breathed urgently, grasping the girl's shoulders.

"What?" Paige asked, with a big, mischievous smile.

"You know what!" Spencer chided, eyeing the ring box that was now sitting on the corner of the bed.

"Oooh! Well you already said yes. I was going to trade it in for something cheaper! Maybe matching tattoos or something," Paige said through her smile. Spencer pinched her and the girl laughed.

"Come on, Paige. I want it."

"Oh? And you get what you want?"

"Almost never, but yes. When it comes to you, yes, I do."

"It could be really bad." Paige said, "So, no take-backs," Paige finished, almost self-consciously.

Spencer smiled at her. She's mine, Spencer thought, pleased.

Paige handed her the box. She laid back, trying not to be nervous as she watched her girlfriend... nay fiancée... slowly open the box. Spencer looked down at it, eyes wide.

"Wow," Spencer said looking at it and then back at Paige and at the ring again. It was gorgeous, intricate, delicate and bright.

"You like?"

Spencer smiled bigger than she realized her face had the capacity for and repeated another 'wow' as Paige slipped it on her finger.

"That's what Caleb thought you'd say," Paige replied with a laugh, kissing her again. Somewhere in the back of Spencer's head she fleetingly registered that Hanna was going to be relieved.
