Chapter thirty-nine: Halloween time

"MOM! Where's my boots?" Oliver shouted, moving around the room tossing things about.

I shook my head as I watched him tear his room apart looking for his boots.

"Sweetie, they're in the back of your closet," I answered, moving towards the closet.

I gently picked the boots up, and held them out to him. Dr. Fraiser had finally removed the cast off my arm three days ago, but my hand was still sore from having broken it on Cronus' face.

"Thanks mom," Oliver exclaimed, grabbing the boots from me.

I smiled, and made my way out of the twin's room and back to mine and Skaara's room. This was going to be the first holiday with the twins, and I was excited. Halloween had always been one of my favorite holidays. I loved dressing up, and I loved playing pranks. I can still remember every prank I ever pulled on Daniel throughout the years.

I sighed, and got to work trying to put my costume on. I'd spent the past twenty minutes helping Rikki with her hair, and helping Oliver find half his costume, and now it was time for me to get ready. Skaara walked passed me, kissing my cheek, as he made his way out of the room. While I had been helping the kids get ready, he was getting ready. And now it was his turn to struggle with getting the kids ready, and by kids, I mean the puppies.

It took me all of ten minutes to get my costume on, and I walked out into the living room to see Skaara chasing Pongo around the room. The little terror had somehow gotten his harness from Skaara and was now running around the room with it.

"Stop! Demon, stop! Agh! PONGO!"

I burst into laughter as Skaara tripped over the little terror and fell on his ass at the foot of the couch. Pongo stood a few feet from him, tongue hanging out of his mouth, and harness lying at his feet. Clover was lying on the couch just staring at the two of them. At least he managed to get Clover's harness on.

"Pongo, come on bring it over here boy," I exclaimed, kneeling on the ground.

Pongo yipped, snatched up the harness, and pranced past Skaara and right to me where he dropped the harness right in my hand.

"Good boy," I said, gently putting the harness on him. He wagged his tail, and Skaara scowled.

"That dog is a demon!" Skaara growled, standing up.

"Oh hush, he's just excitable," I replied, pecking him on the lips.

"That's not what you said when he ate your shoes a week ago," Skaara replied, smirking slightly.

"That's because they were brand new!" I groused, gently slapping him on the chest.

"Mom, Dad, how do we look?!" Oliver exclaimed, running into the room pulling his sister behind him.

The two stopped in front of us and I smiled at them. They were just so cute in their costumes. Teal'c had baby sat them for me and Skaara one night and he had watched Star Wars with them. The two had fallen in love with the movies and had decided they wanted to dress like Star Wars characters. Oliver was Luke, and Rikki was Leia. Since the two of them had decided to be Luke and Leia Skaara and I had decided to dress up as Anakin and Padme.

"You two look amazing, now go get your bags so we can get going," I replied, ruffling Oliver's hair.

"Mom!" He muttered, pulling away from my hand.

He pouted at me, and attempted to fix his hair as he walked back into his room. I shook my head, a smile spreading across my face. It was strange having two kids in the house, but I was getting used to it. At this point I honestly couldn't imagine my life without them.

"We're ready!" The twins shouted, racing back out of their room once more.

The two snatched up the dog's leashes and made a dash for the front door, with Skaara and I right behind them. We spent an hour trick or treating around the neighborhood, and the twins even made a few friends with some of the other kids that lived just down the street from us.

After we finished walking around the neighborhood, we dropped the dogs off back at the house, then headed to the SGC were a Halloween party had been set up in the mess hall. Fake cobwebs hung from the ceiling, and creepy music played from a set of speakers at the back of the room.

Oliver and Rikki immediately dashed towards Teal'c the second we got there, so they could show off their costumes to him. Then they made their rounds around the room, saying hi to everyone, and even managing to finagle some more candy from several people.

We spent three hours there, laughing, talking, and just having fun. By the time we left the twins were practically half asleep. That night the four of us, plus the puppies, fell asleep, still in our costumes, piled on top of each other in mine and Skaara's bed. And I couldn't have been happier!
