"Hello Father," I say swimming up t him, planting a kiss on his cheek. I sit down at the dining table, set with a seafood feast. Shrimp, lobster, shark and sea salad line the table.

"Isn't this a mighty meal, what's the occasion?"I ask my father as a spoon up some sea salad.

"We have a guest and I thought it would be pleasant if we waited for the young man to arrive!" My father insists, which makes me drop my fork and fold my hands graciously into my lap.

"Um… You said YOUNG man?" I ask but I am cut off by the grand dining room doors slamming open then closed. I switch my head to the side, hair slowly following. I study the merman: brown well kept hair, (kind of the same design as Austin's, Egh why am I thinking this!) hazel eyes, broad shoulders, strong arms, muscular chest and most importantly, a RED tail. I quickly stand up following my father.

"Dallas Kingsly, a pleasure to met you Allison," he says while swimming over to me and planting a kiss on my hand. I force a smile and sit down.

I stare at my plate, playing with my food. I hear the usual jibber jabbish whenever someone MY age comes to dinner. The occasionally,"Oh your house is beautiful," (WE live in a CASTLE!) and many other stupid comments. One comment though catches my attention: marriage. Father never usually brings this up himself, what's so different about Dallas?

"Marriage is a dramatic and life changing process, Dallas, so when you find a special mermaid I hope she is to your liking." My dad says while giving a small chuckle, Dallas (almost too quickly) follows.

"Sorry your highness but there's only one girl for me." I notice Dallas's eyes slightly dart towards me in desperation. Yeah. Right.

"Could you describe her? A dashing young merman like you shouldn't stay single for long. Right Allison?" my father says.

"Oh definitely not," I say in my most sarcastic yet polite voice. I sip some seaweed juice while my dad gives me a look of disapproving.

Dallas than begins to describe his 'dream girl'. Which happens to look and sound just like me. Down to my long ringlets of brown hair and flower birth mark on my right shoulder blade, to my love of music and secret obsession to seaweed truffles.

"Well she sounds awfully familiar, right Dad?" I say looking at him with our signal when a boy is getting to close for my liking, but Father just stares at Dallas, completely ignoring me. I impatiently strum my fingers against the table. They continue to talk about boring-drain-the-life-out-of-you-things. I wish Austin was here, he would say something funny and id laugh. I don't really laugh any more.

"Well I have had a...lovely…. time but if you'll excuse me I would like to retreat to my room." I say while swimming out of my chair. As a begin swimming to the door my father calls out, "Allison, aren't you going to say good-bye to Dallas?"

I turn around, slowly, and look at Dallas."Good. Bye."

The door slams behind me and I swim away to my room. Grabbing a few things that are light-weighted. I swim, faster than your average mermaid, because, I have special powers that only royalty have. I reach my cave and have my head pop above the water only to hear a light strumming of the guitar. I swim closer to the edge only to find a handsome blonde merman with a yellow tail playing my guitar.

"Austin?"
