Wow how long has it been? Well I'm back, for now. Can't say I'll stay thought. I have been off doing other things, attempting to write a book that is of my own nature but I still have bits of this story that I never uploaded so I figured I'd make their pressence known.

Also Davekat became canon so I have to gloat.

Dirk paced around the throne room; sometimes gazing out the window, but most of the time he simply would look at the ground in thought. It had been about five days since he had last seen Dave, five days since Dirk was forced to send his only family member out to war by the Queen's orders. Never before had five days seemed so long. He had known it was a ridiculous mission, but there was no way he could defy the Queen, not after the way she was able to enslave Dave to bend to her will. He didn't need that again. His pace didn't falter as the ache of worry fell upon his princely shoulders; the only time his thoughts didn't reel out of control was when the large oak doors opened out to reveal Jane, the Maid of Life, rushed in out of breath, distress painted on her face.

"Dirk, huff, I just came from the infirmary after I got five new patients, pant, and they said that Dave was taken in as a prisoner by the Knight of Blood. He gave up himself to have those five released. All other soldiers are either dead or abandoned battle. Apparently your brother did nothing to stop deserters." Jane said quickly, stumbling over her own words

Dirk listened carefully to Jane's words, but as she finished her report, he turned on his heel and smashed his fists in anger against the stone wall, "Dammit I should have never sent him! I knew something would happen. Who is this Knight of Blood? Send someone up to Rose, and find out if she can see anything. Also find out if she knows anything about this knight."

Jane was about to take her leave when something stopped her, "Dirk. I have to caution you. Don't do anything rash, okay? Dave can handle this; in fact sometimes he is better at this kind of thing than you are. He will find a way out." She said in a comforting tone, seeing her friend's distress almost unbearable.

Dirk sighed, trying to calm is boiling blood before speaking in a ragged breath, "I know. He is very powerful, but he doesn't realize the trouble he can get into. He is too young!" The Prince of Heart growled in anger, his pacing returning.

Jane shook her head, did he really not know? "Dirk, you give him so little credit! He is worldlier than you and is known throughout the land as a force to be feared. He is out there planning, plotting!" the Maid of Life said in exasperation.

Before Dirk could retaliate, a woman in orange garbs stepped into the room, holding a crystal ball in one hand and a wand in the other, "I heard some screaming, and figured I would investigate. I can see now that my services are in dire need." She said with a bow, eyeing the two carefully "My prince, how can I be of help?" Dirk quickly stopped his movements to meet the woman in the room, his determined expression not fazing her in the slightest.

"Rose! Thank the lords. Listen, I need you to see if you can find Dave with your powers. He has been captured and I need to know what's happening." Dirk said in distress, his hands grabbing for one of her sleeves in a pleading gesture. The woman smiled, her face being illuminated by the light that shone through one of the stain glass windows decorating the room

"I have already seen what you speak of and I can tell you that I am rather impressed. Dave is currently winning the Alternian prince's favor by using his melodic voice to pull at the strings in the killer's heart. The knight who captured him has also taken quite a liking to him." Rose said with a sense of pride, but quickly she became solemn "I will state this though, Dave is playing a sharp card and must proceed with caution for one wrong move will cost him and has almost in the past."

Dirk had heard enough; quickly he went to grab his kantana that leaned up against the orange throne before the sharp voice of the Maid of Light stopped his hasty action. "DIRK! Do not start acting on impulse. Dave is in a cautious situation true, but he chose to be there. He is sacrificing himself for this kingdom, and one false move on our part will make that all meaningless. Have some faith in him!" Rose said, a slight anger rising in her voice. She had spent many days reading, while Dave would just sit with her, singing and she knew he planned this. He was too precious for such faulty moves to be made, for it might risk his life.

"You are right. I will calm down and let this play out, but I expect daily coverage on my brother's progress, or I will be going to find him myself." Dirk said; sighing in defeat as he realized that both Jane and Rose were right, again. The two girls smiled at each other before taking their leave out of the room, closing the doors behind them to give Dirk some time to think.
