Hey everybody! I'm so sorry for the late update! I have been so busy these last few weeks. I've barely slept at all. But I'm posting my new story right after this, so hopefully that will make up for it ;)
Epilogue
It had been two months since the whole Victor situation and a month away from graduation when I finally got my letter.
"Rose, there's mail for you." My mom called from the living room. I grabbed my yogurt off of the kitchen counter and bounded over to her.
"Who is it from?" I asked, my mouth full of yogurt.
She smiled at me and handed me the letter. "Read it." She said.
I took it from her hands and gasped when I read the title. It was from Julliard. I opened it with trembling hands, and took the paper out. I unfolded it, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath before I read.
Dear Rosemarie,
We have received your audition piece and after a long and thoughtful process, we would like you to join us. We think your talent would be an excellent addition to our school. Our next semester will be starting in the fall, and we would love to see you there for classes. Please be in contact and let us know if you will be attending.
Sincerely, Alianna Jones
Head of Staff
The letter dropped from my hand and I had to blink a few times. I must've zoned out because my mom shook me a few times before I finally responded.
"Rose, what did it say?" she asked, a worried look on her face.
Tears gathered in my eyes and I smiled. "They accepted me." She screamed and hugged me tightly.
"Oh, my baby! I'm so proud of you." She cried.
After I got the letter, I told Dimitri that I would be going to New York and that we needed to figure out the next step of our relationship. The talk didn't start well at first, but we worked it out. My parents learned to accept our relationship, so we could see one another outside school without having to hide it. As long as we kept the door open. Typical teenager rules. I drove over to his house after I told my dad, and sat down to talk to him.
"What are you doing here?" he asked when he opened the door. "Not that I'm not completely excited to see you, I just thought you were coming tomorrow."
"I am." I said. "I just wanted to tell you something." I stepped around him and he shut the door. I took a deep breath. "I got accepted to Julliard." I said.
His eyes lit up and he grabbed me in a big hug. "Oh, Roza, that's wonderful! I'm so proud of you!" he laughed. I smiled softly and pushed him away.
"Yeah, it is, but we need to decide what we're going to do about… us." I whispered the last word. His smile fell into a frown.
"We'll find a way to work things out." He said matter-of-factly.
"I'll be all the way across the country, Dimitri," I argued. "and you'll still be here. We need a plan." I said.
"We'll figure it out when the time comes." He reached for my hand. "Let's just celebrate now." I pulled my hand away and stepped away.
"No, Dimitri. I want to figure this out now." I said. I was a little annoyed he wasn't taking this is seriously as I was. "You can't just give up your job, and I can't just give up Julliard." I said defiantly.
He looked at me, shocked by my outburst, and narrowed his eyes. "Well right now it doesn't seem to me like you want to solve it."
I gasped. "Excuse me? You're the one who's not taking this seriously!" I shouted.
"If I wasn't taking us seriously, then I wouldn't have accepted a teaching job at Columbia!" he shouted back.
"Well you-wait, what?" I stuttered.
He crossed his arms and stared at me. "Yeah. I applied just in case you got accepted, and I got the position. If you would've stopped being so stubborn for two damn seconds, I could've told you that." He said, and I dropped my eyes.
"Oh." I said quietly. He took a few steps towards me and tilted my chin up so that my eyes met his.
"Roza, wherever you go, I follow."
The celebrating went as planned, and so did our after graduation plans. Christian finally decided to attend Columbia, and so it was Lissa, Christian, Dimitri and me heading to New York. I lived in an apartment with Dimitri, while Lissa and Christian lived in the school dorms. We lived together for four years when I graduated from Julliard, and the night when he proposed to me finally came. We were married a year and a half later, and we've been together ever since.
I rested my head on his shoulder and smiled at the memories. We sat on the porch of our new home in Russia, where we moved back to with his family. I watched our kids Anya and Evan run across the yard. I looked up at Dimitri and he kissed my forehead. I smiled at him. Our love was foolish in the beginning, but led me to where I am today.
Ah, so this is the end :( I had fun writing this! And thank you all so much for your support!
