Chapter Fourteen
We walked out of the museum. The crowd was chanting "Ghostbusters!" over and over and Lady Liberty was laying on the ground. I put my arm around my stomach and we walked down the steps. We walked to the Ecto-1 and got in. I made a mental note to go to the doctor and get checked out, just in case.
"Five..!"
I heard. I looked out of the window.
"Four..!"
"It's almost 1990." I looked at everyone. Peter looked at Dana.
"Should we?"
"Might as well." Dana smiled. They got out, and the rest of us did the same. I took Egon's hand in mine.
"Three..!" the crowd continued. "Two!" we joined in. "One!"
"ZERO!"
Egon and I, along with all of the other couples in the crowd kissed. That's all I could remember.
Then I blacked out.

The next thing I could remember was when I woke up. I realized that I was not in my home. The first thing I saw was a bright light until it all came into focus. I looked around. Next to the door was Peter, who seemed to be the only one awake, Egon was in the chair next to me, and then in the other two chairs sat Ray and Winston, who were also asleep.
"Peter?" I whispered. Peter looked at me and then quickly walked over to me.
"Nice to see that you're awake." He knelt down next to me.
"What the hell happened?" I asked quietly.
"Don't you remember? Egon's kiss knocked you out. I told him to be careful, but..."
"Peter, be serious."
Peter sighed. He looked down for a few moments and then looked at me. "You lost some blood. It wasn't a lot to kill you but it was enough to knock you out. None of us noticed it until after you fainted."
"It must've left a huge stain in my jumpsuit."
"Janine and Dana are working on getting it out."
"They don't have to do that."
"Yeah, but they are."
"How long have I been out?"
"Few hours."
My eyes suddenly widened. "Peter, what happened to my baby? Did I lose it?"
"I don't know, I haven't seen the doctor." My brother shook his head. "Not since you came in here anyway. They did a few tests, but they haven't come back yet. That was around twelve thirty."
I whimpered quietly. "I don't want to lost this baby. I can't lose this baby. I just can't."
"I know. You'll be fine. I promise."

Around nine thirty in the morning was when I woke back up. Everyone else was already awake and talking quietly amongst themselves. Egon was still beside me, and he was quiet. Peter was talking to Ray quietly and Ray was shaking his head. Winston was nowhere to be seen. I moved a little and started to sit up. Egon looked at me, stood quickly and then helped me.
"Be careful." He said, fixing my pillow and gently holding my shoulder. I winced and then sat up straight, relaxing against the pillow.
"Good morning to you too." I chuckled.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
I blinked, still half asleep. "Tell you what?"
"That you were pregnant."
"I wanted to tell you afterwards. Egon, I...I wanted to be alone when I told you. Make it special, and memorable, and...and romantic." I explained.
"Well, this is certainly memorable." My husband shook his head.
"I'm sorry. But I wasn't going to sit on the sidelines and miss out on the action. I didn't do that with Alex until I was showing and I was going to do the same thing with this baby." While I spoke, Egon was shaking his head.
"Why are you so stubborn?"
"Because. I was born a Venkman and we Venkmans are more stubborn than you Spenglers I'm pretty sure." I smirked. Egon rolled his eyes and shook his head, but a smile was on his face. "Did the doctor come back yet?"
"Not yet, but I'm sure he will soon. I'm just glad you're okay."
I blushed lightly. "Did Peter lecture you about the 'knockout kiss' thing?" At this, all my husband was roll his eyes and shake his head again. "You sure do shake your head a lot when you're around me." I joked. The door opened and all of us looked, but it was just Winston walking in with a cup in his hand.
"What's that?" Peter asked.
"Coffee." Winston answered. Peter reached for it. "No way, man, get your own." He snapped and walked over to me. "How you feeling?"
"Better now. Better than earlier. Thank you for asking." I smiled. It soon went away. "Have you seen the doctor?"
"Not yet."
I sighed and rested my head in my hand.
"I'm sure he'll be here soon." Ray walked over. "Look, everything's going to be okay. I promise."
"I'm not worried about me, I worried about the baby." I said, looking at him. Peter was now standing at the front of the bed. "I want to make sure it's okay."
"Like I said before, I'm sure everything is okay." Peter reassured. There was a soft knock on the door before it opened.
"Hello." The doctor walked in. Peter stepped to the side and let him stand in front of my bed. "I'm glad to see you're awake, Mrs. Spengler."
"What happened?"
"You had significant blood loss, and passed out."
"Well I know that much. I want to know what caused it."
"You began to have a miscarriage."
I shut my eyes and leaned back. "I fucking knew it..." I muttered.
"But we were able to stop it. Congratulations, Mrs. Spengler. You're still pregnant."

One week later, we stood next to the Statue of Liberty, who put back in her original spot. Lenny stood in front of us.
"Now, to you, Ghostbusters, I present the Key of the City." He gave us a large key which Peter received.
"Thank you." My brother smiled. I looked at Egon.
"Wow." I smiled.
"No kidding." He smiled back. Dana walked over to Peter, smiling as well.
"I'm so proud of you."
"Well thank you." Peter held the key upright on his shoulder.
"We've definitely earned this." Ray nodded.
"Yes we have." Winston grinned. I held Alex, who was looking around. She yawned and leaned on my shoulder and I just held her.
After years of being critically shamed, the Ghostbusters had finally come back to the top. All those people, like Jack and Peck, who thought that we weren't good enough are probably throwing fits in their homes.
And that was the most humbling feeling I have ever had before in my life for some reason.
