The week had been a long one filled with interrogation rooms, a transfer to the courthouse in handcuffs (like a common criminal) and a court appearance. Holly and Swarek had testified, without a shadow of a doubt, of Gail's innocence and offered up another suspect to place Gail's charges upon. Her face was plastered all over the news and she was certain she was probably the most notable face in Toronto right now. All of that didn't seem to matter, however, because she had slept in a cage, woke up to handcuffs, and was about to walk home with her arm laced around her beautiful girl. It all felt surreal after weeks of hell. She sat on the steps of the courthouse waiting for Holly and contemplated how she had ever landed in this predicament in the first place.

A year or so ago Gail and Oliver had busted a grow-op much like the first one they busted together a year prior. However, this one supplied a much larger and much more brutal cartel. They had heard through the grapevine that hits had been placed on their lives at the time of this bust but nothing came of it and the chatter settled down. They hadn't heard anything in over four months so it seemed safe to go on undercover operations once again. The whole thing seemed silly now, of course. Cartel guys never really settled down until they settled a score, and no score had been settled between the cartel and Gail. She's not sure exactly how they found her undercover in the grasp of their enemies—the shooter had yet to offer up that information and probably never would. Nevertheless, they planned a solid frame scheme because the downfall of a police royalty Peck seemed more satisfying than a dead Peck. They had drugged Gail with GHB, assisted her in a drugged out state to the crime scenes of the first and second victims. While she didn't shoot the gun—they certainly planted enough detailed evidence to suggest she had. This evidence, of course, had kept Holly's team spinning for quite some time. Had it not been for Holly's sheer determination and unwillingness to see Gail suffer—they might have gotten away with it. As it stood now, however, between Swarek's, and 15 Division's work, as well as Holly's lab work, they had a suspect in custody who was a hemophiliac and whom they were able to get a partial DNA profile from. They found GHB at his place and a few unregistered firearms. Certainly enough to cast reasonable doubt that Gail had committed such a heinous crime. So here she sat, breathing in the cool crisp air and waiting patiently for Holly. She had a new appreciation for time and felt she had all the time in the world.

She was watching the clouds in the sky slowly drift along when she felt slightly jostled. Holly saddled up beside her and placed a short kiss on her cheek.

"What are you doing?"

"Thinking about Queen Victoria."

Gail tilted her head down from the clouds and looked at Holly's face. Holly chuckled at her response.

"Shall I dare to ask?"

"Well, where are we going to get that painting of her for our new place?"

Holly slid her hand onto Gail's knee and Gail moved her hand on top and squeezed Holly's hand gently. Normally she would avoid these types of PDAs, but hiding affection from this wonderful woman that just brought sunshine back into her life was utterly ridiculous. Perhaps this was part of her growing process—not shying away from simple signs of love. A short kiss on the cheek or a handhold in public wasn't the end of the world; it was merely showing pride to be with the person you love. Gail could accept that now. She owed Holly that at the very least. She squeezed Holly's proffered hand harder and a content smile spread across her face.

"You're serious about this, aren't you?"

Holly's face scrunched up in laughter and Gail thought it might be the most adorable thing she's ever seen.

"As a heart attack. We need a loft with a fireplace and a substantial amount of space above it for our Queen. It needs to have a generous mantle place, too. You know, for silly knick-knacks we collect. Ohhh! And your bed. I love your bed. Your bed is the best. I've missed your bed. Mmm…bed."

"Gail, sometimes I think you like my bed more than me."

"Duh, I do. Only reason I stay with you. Your bed is too expensive for my cop salary. So clearly…next best option."

"Ah, I see. Makes total sense."

Holly winks and smiles warmly at Gail. She had certainly missed their banter in these last couple of long weeks.

"Anything else we need to have, apartment guru?"

"Well…"

Gail scrunched her eyebrows and pursed her lips, clearly in deep thought.

"Lots of bookcases. Seriously, you have so many books. I bet you could fill half of the public library with the amount of books you own. And I have some….I guess we'll have to decide which copy we keep if we have duplicates. The books are going to be a disaster! A disaster I tell you! There better be wall space for my Victoria painting. I don't want your bookcases getting in the way. You have so many books we'd probably have to board up the fireplace to put a bookcase in front of it. Where will Victoria go!?"

Gail's voice got louder and louder with mock outrage and Holly chuckled at her tirade.

"And what about the 45 tesla magnet? Do you think that laboratory would let us have it? I mean, I bet it means more to us than it means to that silly lab"

"Oh yeah, I'm sure they'll just let us have a magnet worth 14 million dollars. No big deal. I guess we'll have to get cathedral ceilings, though, because that thing is 6.7 meters tall and weighs nearly 32,000kg. No big deal, though. I bet we can easily have it trucked in. However, we will need a place on the water with a great pump system. The magnet uses 15,142 liters of water per minute."

"You're mocking me. I can't believe you're mocking me. After all I've been through."

The feigned horror on Gail's face sent Holly into a fit of laughter.

"Come on, Officer. Let's get out of here."

"Oh! Can we go to your bed? I have a date with it. It has missed me."

"Mmm, we can. But I bet I've missed you more. I think you should let me prove it to you. I can even show you on that bed you love so much."

"Two for one deal. How could I resist?"

Holly stood up and pulled Gail up with their intertwined hands.

"Want to walk or take a cab?"

"Mmm, walk. It's a beautiful day; you're a beautiful girl, and your walking with me. I have a date with you and your bed. I'm not sure things could get much better."
