Thud! I groaned, not expecting to land on something much softer than the ground. I peered down and gasped. I landed on a boy who looked no older than I was. I got off and started to apologize when he interrupted me.

"What was that for?" he said clearly annoyed. This only infuriated me more.

"I'm not the one who suddenly screams "hey" at someone they don't even know." I glared. The absolute nerve of this boy.

I was simply sitting in a tree when all of the sudden someone yells "Hey " at me. Obviously I didn't expect that and fell off.

"Well if you hadn't been so clumsy you wouldn't have fallen would you?" he smirked.

"I don't even know you!" I screamed in annoyance. I badly wanted to slap that smirk off his face but that would be rude.

He simply rolled his eyes "Gray Fullbuster. Pleasure to meet'cha."

"Well Gray" I said his name in distaste "I'd like to say the same but unfortunately the feeling isn't mutual."

Once again he rolled his eyes and gave me a smug grin. Every single thing this Gray Fullbuster did simply irritated me more.

"Well what do we have here?"

I looked up and almost tackled him.

"Lucy Heartfilia? So thats your name" he said holding up my sketch book with that obnoxious smirk of his.

"Yes thats mine now give it back" I mumbled lunging for the book.

"And what if i don't give it back?" he taunted, using our height difference to his advantage. Curse me for being short.

"Please" I pleaded "that sketch book is important to me." I said aggravated.

"Tch! Here" he handed it to me " I don't see what's so important about a dumb sketch book."

"Obviously you wouldn't understand. Can you even draw?" I scoffed.

"Of course i can!" he cried indignantly.

"Prove it " I ridiculed handing him my sketch book.

"I will" he glared.

After about fifteen minutes he handed me back the book. To say I was shocked would be an understatement.

"It's beautiful" I murmured "Can I keep it?"

"Sure" he shrugged.

"Thanks!" I beamed.

In all honesty I thought that it was absolutely gorgeous. He drew the park and in such great detail that I was amazed on how quickly he was able to do it. It would've taken me hours to complete it.

"It's not fair!" I wailed exasperated "How can you draw so well?"

He burst out laughing and started pinching my cheeks.

"It's a gift" he said giving me a cheeky grin before letting go.

I rolled my eyes and pouted.

After a few more minutes of joking around we decided to race each other. Gray beat me almost every time. It was funny how a few minutes ago I wanted nothing to do with him, yet now we were acting like we've know each for forever. It may be dangerous, dumb even to trust someone you've known for such a short period of time, yet I didn't care if I was being dumb and naïve.

I ended up finding out that he went to the same school as me. I was so relieved . I was terrified to begin the school year. I knew no one especially since I just moved from a different city. I was looking forward to seeing a familiar face even if he was maddening.

We both realized it was getting late and decided to part ways.

"Same time tomorrow?" I asked.

He rolled his eyes "Obviously."

Little did I know that this infuriating, aggravating, obnoxious, antagonizing boy that made me want to pull my hair out would end up being my best friend.

A/N: I know that Natsu is Lucy's best friend but he would just be to OOC. I just cant imagine him being that obnoxious so Gray will have to do.
