Wrote this for my friend Ranty.

"Whoa, hungry or what..?" Mike watched in disbelief as his best friend popped open yet another bag of crisps;

"That stuff ain`t exactly healthy you know, Sul - and no offense but…you kindaneed to watch your weight..!"

He nudged the other`s side rather playfully, though the concern in his voice was real – a top scarer completely out of shape was almost certain to fall behind at some point with all the other, smaller, much quicker monsters not too many points behind;

"You don`t want Randall to catch up, do ya?"

"No, but…today`s just so hot, Mikey..!" Sulley complained as he shoved another handful of salty treats into his mouth, causing the green one to try and snap the bag out of his reach. The lack of success only helped make the green one more determined to steal the bag, and his efforts caused the blue one to chuckle as he continued to munch merrily;

"Salty food can prevent heatstrokes, did you know that? And since I`m a big guy, I need, well, lots of salty food on a day like today! I`m sorry, I can`t help it – I`m only doing what`s best for me..!"

"Why don`t ya just go for a swim then, maybe you`ll swallow some sea water..?"

"No thanks, I`m fine right here…" The larger monster leaned back in his beach chair which was placed strategically under a tall tree for some shadow, still holding his bag of snacks over his head where Mike couldn`t reach it.

"Or we could give ya a summer shave..! No Sul; seriously..!" Mike`s proposal was immediately met by the other one laughing it off, but the green one hadn`t meant it as a joke;

"Lots of furry monsters shave during the summer! Come on big guy, it`s not like we`re gonna wax ya, I`m only talking about a few inches, to make the temperatures more bearable for ya!"

"Not gonna happen, Mikey."

"Can ya at least eat something else?" Mike jumped in another attempt to reach the bag;

"That stuff there`s probably the worst thing you could possibly eat, and – hngg..!"

"Careful now -" the furry one warned as the smaller one made another jump;

"Don`t wear yourself out in this heat – maybe you`ll end up with a heatstroke instead. Quit the jumping!"

"Then gimme the bag..!"

With a heavy sigh, Sulley finally lowered his arm and handed the bag over to his best friend, who accepted with a pleased grin;

"Trust me, I`m only doing what`s best for ya, Sul – and I`m glad ya have the sense to hand it over – clearly you`re not having a heatstroke yet..!"

"No, the snacks kinda prevented that… You should probably eat some of it too."

"Don`t be foolish, I`m feeling fine!"

"Well, for now..! But you are aware that the symptoms of a heatstroke can come to show hours later, right? Like tonight – when you have those plans with…who was it again..?"

The horrifying thought of having his date with Celia spoiled caused Mike to open the bag immediately and binge on the content. And when Sulley reminded him that if he was to get a heatstroke then Mike would have to spend the evening watching him, the green monster finally agreed to give him his snacks back.

For the sake of his friend`s health.

And his date.
