Without anything left to possible distract me from this story…
Anna POV
Her head was pounding, her lungs were on fire and her wrists were numb. She had collapsed onto the cold floor and didn't have the strength to lift herself back up. Time was a mystery to her as she watched the floor with half seeing eyes. She could feel the cold air nipping at the cold sweat that trickled down her neck and stung her cut and swollen wrists. She had been seeing hallucinations more and more often. Just now Elsa was opening the door, gasping at the state she was in. Elsa ran to her side, shaking her gently as her eyes began to close.
Wait, she's shaking me. Anna's eyes bolted open and Elsa was still there, breaking her shackles with ice and crying at the sight of her wrists.
Anna smiled weakly as Elsa brushed her cheek, saying something about how hot she was. Elsa starred at her with so much love and yet so much pain as she helped Anna to her uneasy feet, practically carrying her to the door.
"Y-You came…for me." Anna weakly muttered, coughing slightly and wincing as it tore at her lungs.
Elsa smiled and let a tear slide down her pale cheek as she hugged Anna to her gently, "Did you doubt I would?"
"I for one knew you would come." Hans said from the doorway, brushing snowflakes from his jacket as he stared daggers at the sisters. Elsa immediately stepped in front of Anna, ice creeping from her feet and towards Hans. He smiled at the ice and stepped onto it, looking directly at Elsa. "Are you going to freeze my heart? Just like you did Anna's"
He hit Elsa's weakness, she took a step back, reaching back to brush Anna's arm to remind her sister that she was here, that she was alive. Anna's fingers entangled themselves in hers and she felt herself straighten, ready to face Hans and whoever else wanted to hurt her sister.
"No, I'm going to do something worse to you." Elsa shot ice at Hans and ice encased his entire body, trapping him in a giant ice cube. Elsa's fingers never left Anna's as she pulled her through the maze of halls and to the ground floor where they ran into Anna's kidnapper.
Elsa took one look at him and drew her fist back, hitting him square in the jaw hard enough to knock him out, "That's for kidnapping my sister." Anna smiled as they stepped over the body and headed towards the door, almost through the door when the sound of an arrow being loaded into a crossbow stopped them.
"That's far enough Snow Queen." The Duke's high voice stopped Elsa in her tracks, Anna spun around to find the crossbow pointed at her heart and not her sisters, "Turn around slowly or I'll shoot." Elsa turned to face Anna, giving her a reassuring smile as she hugged her closely.
"What do you want from us? Is our trading business really worth kidnapping the princess of Arendale?" Elsa asked, stepping slightly in front of Anna to block the arrow's path.
"Dear girl, I don't want your trading business. I want your throne." The Duke smiled viciously at Elsa and raised the bow level with her heart, "Long live the Queen!"
"No!" Anna shoved Elsa out of the arrow's path and the sisters collided with the floor. Anna quickly jumped to her feet and ran at the Duke, the adrenaline waking her as she collided with him before he could reload another arrow. They slid across the floor away from each other as the kidnapper entered the room, clutching a nasty bruise on his jaw.
He surveyed the scene quickly and rushed at Anna as she sat up, clutching her throbbing head. Elsa was on her feet in seconds, throwing an ice ball at the man and hit him in the temple, sending him to the floor where he wouldn't be getting up anytime soon. Elsa rushed to help Anna stand as footsteps echoed in the hall. Hans rushed into the room as the Duke got to his feet, both men pulling swords from a nearby wall display and stepped towards the girls. They were backed into a wall, their hearts in their throats as the men grew closer and closer. Elsa created an ice wall in front of them, buying time as the men hacked away at it with their swords.
"I told the guards where I was going before I left. They should be here any minute." Elsa's voice quivered slightly as her calm façade broke.
"I don't think we have a minute." Anna said as the ice began to crack.
Elsa couldn't control her emotions, her fear was creeping along the floor and walls as she panicked, "What do we do?" She asked, close to tears.
Anna looked around their small space and spotted another sword display, she grabbed the two swords and handed one to Elsa, "We fight our way out." She gave an encouraging smile to Elsa as the ice broke and they charged the men.
Anna's sword met Hans as she stepped over the shards of broken ice. Elsa crashed into the Duke, fighting with her ice as much as her sword. She created a small circle of ice under the Duke's foot and he fell, crashing into a table holding a candle. The Duke lie unconscious next to the flame as it spread across the wooden cabin. Elsa turned to find Anna and Hans still engaged, judging by the hand print across Hans's face; Anna had gotten in a swing or two. Elsa turned towards the rapidly growing fire and blasted it with ice, trying to tame it as it consumed the room.
A loud smack turned Elsa from the fire, she found Anna lying on her back with Hans's sword point at her throat. A thin line of blood trickled from Anna's mouth. Elsa felt all the anger she had kept in for years and shot it at Hans, striking him hard and sending him crashing into the stone fireplace where he hit the floor, out for good. Elsa knelt by Anna's side, brushing her hair from her face and turned it slightly to look at the small cut on her bottom lip. Elsa helped Anna to her feet, wrapping her arm over her sister's shoulder and sighed with a smile as they made their way out the door finally. Smoke fled the house as Elsa's ice claimed the heat and turned it to a simmer. A soft groan turned the sisters once more and they found Hans crawling towards the doorway.
"I will get you both and your kingdom, if it is the last thing I do!" He coughed, sending blood to the floor.
Anna limped towards Hans and stood over him, a shadow cast across her face as she gave a chuckle, "Let it go." She smiled and kicked him hard across the face.
She turned to find Elsa blushing with a shy smile across her face, "You heard me?"
"You were on top of a mountain, stuff echoes." The two laughed and jumped onto Elsa's horse as the guards arrived and dragged out the three unconscious men.
Epilogue
"I can't eat anymore, I'm going to explode!" Anna laughed from where she laid on her bed in Elsa's room.
"I think I'm done too." Elsa laughed, leaning against the baseboard next to Anna and an army of chocolate wrappings.
Once they had arrived back at the palace, Anna had fallen ill again. She slept for days, Elsa had stuck by her side just as she had the first time Anna got sick. She would change the wet cloth on Anna's head and trickle water on her lips when they were dry. When Anna had woken she had hugged her and together they had celebrated with chocolate, after they cleared it with the doctor. The kingdom had shed its melancholy state when the sisters arrived back at the castle. They were especially happy to see Gerda back. Anna and Elsa had found her in the stable barn outside of the cabin where she was locked in a stall. They freed her and together they all three made it back to Arendale.
"I missed this, being with you." Anna smiled and leaned back against the headboard.
"Yeah, me too." Elsa smiled one of her rare smiles that reminded Anna of their childhood before Elsa locked herself away.
Anna smiled to herself and bounced off the bed, running out of the room and shutting the door before Elsa could say anything. Elsa sat up, waiting for Anna to come back but she didn't she stood and walked towards the door when someone knocked on the door, using a pattern that only on person had ever used to knock on Elsa's door.
Elsa laughed and opened the door, standing straight as she looked at Anna who was grinning ear from ear, "Do you want to build a snowman?" Anna sang.
Elsa couldn't hold back the grin that spread as wide as Anna's. She was finally going to say what she had always wanted to all those times Anna had asked outside her door, "Of course I want to build a snowman." She sang, and hugged her sister to her just as she would have done all those years ago; without fear.
The End! Again, thank you to everyone who has read this story! Hope you liked my ending!
