Emma, leader of the Magpies! Emma is a wonderful Captain. One of the best captains of all the quidditch teams, in my opinion; she's been great at making sure prompts and other choices are in on time, always checking on everyone, making sure the prompts are sent in time and asking for reports on how the fics are doing. She also did a wonderful job listening and dealing with the complaining that went on in chat on some occasions. A good captain is active with their team, let's them know what's going on, is strict when they need to be, but is also nice. I can say honestly that Emma is all of this and more; couldn't have asked for a better captain; she doesn't put herself above us, instead she's just like the rest of us.

She has a big heart and is super nice. With her we have gotten this far; she been here for us all the time, even after three losses when the situation looked worse than bad she didn't abandon us. Emma really brought the team together and helped us during those difficuly first three weeks when morale dropped. And even when we struggle she has faith in us; she knows we can make it. She knows her team and her team knows her and trusts her. Super friendly upon our first meeting and I felt at home with the team immediately!

Her entries are well written, even if posted on the last minute and she's always looking to get better despite her busy schedule. I love her writing style and her fics are always amusing. I really hope she gets a Judges Pick before the end. She juggles her school and her responsibilities here so well, and I've enjoyed chatting with her and having her as my captain.

I think you're a really, REALLY wonderful captain.Congratulations, you're brilliant!

Ami is an amazing writer, and I always look forward to reading her entries each round. It's hard not to notice the talent here. Her ideas are original, and pieces well written, and we do need that for a Keeper.

Real-life gets in the way of many things, sometimes making this less of a priority, and many people would just walk away from the site. Yet Ami didn't do that, thankfully she has always came back for us, and that's the Magpie spirit. Perseverance and determination are wonderful qualities and even if I don't talk a lot with her, it's clear that she has those and is dedicated to the team. Loyalty and responsibility are good traits to have.

She's the only one of the first season Magpies in our team and she has valuable experience from the competition. She's a nice person and I'm glad she is on the team, I am very grateful you've stuck around for the whole season! Despite some personal problems which cost us a few points Ami hasn't given up on us, she just needs to kick the real life on its fat arse and show us her true powers during every round.

Ami is a great writer and produces some awesome fics. That's all you can ask

Firefly is one of my absolute favourite teammates because of how NICE she is. She has been cheerful and active in the chat from the start, she's always leaving little compliments for everyone, encouraging the team to keep going. A gentle spirit. She is kind and easy to speak with and made me feel at home from day one, Firefly would do anything she could for anyone.

FF has always been available for assistance when needed, always there for beta-ing or bouncing ideas off. It's always a pleasure to see your story reviewed by her or to hear her response when she beta's for you. Over the season, I've seen her writing improve and mature - her style is really starting to come out more. We weren't doing so well in the first rounds, but she never let it get her down and I honestly admire that.

You always say good things about my fics and I always feel good after talking to you [about anything] and I'm glad to have made a friend in you. Her mind os just full of ideas, her entries are a joy to read and she has also written some of the funniest fics in the entire League this season! Her fics are always super amusing and there is no reason to be scared she wouldn't post them on time.

Firefly is such a great person, always saying hello and goodbye and making me feel good about my position on the team.

Rules of Various Positions:

CAPTAIN:

The captain's responsibility is to encourage, motivate and mentor their team through the rounds. A week or so before round 1 begins, the 13 captains will be messaged with details. The captain will then gather their team together (if some have gone astray) and prepare.

The captain can also create the Change Room thread on this forum. This is the place where the team plan, strategise and get to know one another.

The captains will also be given a writing task and are also required to submit something each round. Whatever their points for that round is, it will be doubled when the bonus points are awarded.

KEEPER:

The Keeper's job is to try and stop points from the other team. Each round, the Keeper's points will be subtracted from the opposing team. So, Keepers, write well, because the more points you score, the more your opposition will have taken away from them.

CHASERS:

Each Chaser will be given a separate task from their fellow Chasers, as well as five optional prompts each. A Chaser's job is to score extra points. For every optional prompt used, a Chaser will score five bonus points. However, you may only use three of the five each. But, be careful, Chasers, because the Beaters will also have access to these prompts, and any Beaters who use the prompts on the opposing team, will block the Chasers from scoring. So, think carefully.

BEATERS:

Beaters block. They try and cause harm to the other players. Though, as we're a friendly forum, we're not going to be mean. Simply, the Beaters can block the Chasers from scoring points. Each round, the Beaters will have access to the same 15 optional prompts as the Chasers. The Beaters are allowed to use five prompts between the two. For every prompt a Beater uses that a Chaser on the other team uses, the Chaser will not receive any points. But choose wisely, because remember, you can only use up to five of the 15 prompts between the two Beaters.

SEEKER:

In Quidditch, the first Seeker to catch the Snitch ends the game. In fanfiction, the Seeker (between 2) who gets their entry in first will receive a bonus five points. That means in each round only six Seekers will be getting bonus points.

Other Various Notices:

Extensions

[Please see section on extensions.]

Each position will be granted 5 extensions for the 13 rounds, and will be monitored closely throughout the season. This rule has been implemented as we feel that the extension rule was misused during season 1 and people were using it just because they could and not because they needed it.

You are welcome to use your extensions in whatever rounds that suit you, but please be mindful that if you use all 5, you will not be granted any more for the remainder of the season, finals exempted when you will be given extra extensions. If your extensions are unused throughout the normal rounds, they will NOT carry on into the finals.

Each extension lasts 48 hours, meaning your extension period ends 48 hours after your entry is due. You will only be allowed ONE extension in a round, as it coincides with the locking of each game day thread.

Please note, as mentioned above, each position will be given 5 extensions, meaning that if a reserve requests an extension in your position, it will count to an extension use. If you request one, but do not end up using it (ie. Submit before normal round time ends) it will not be classed as an extension used, and will return to you.

Using Reserves

[I'd like everyone to read over the reserves thread, just so we all know where we stand and what we need to do should the occasion arrive.]

In the reserves thread, there is a form for teams to use to apply for a reserve if need be for a round. A member of a team (does not have to be the captain) must request a reserve using that form.

A team may request a specific reserve if they would like, however, it must be through that thread.

Reserves should reply via the thread first, and then converse with the team they are joining for that round.

Reserves will not be allowed to write for multiple teams in one round, however, their job is to fill in for teams who need it, and therefore, they will be able to write for any team who requests them/they want to write for. If a reserve needs an extension, this WILL count as an extension for that position.

Each team will be given SIX reserve opportunities throughout the season, and that will be monitored in that thread, too.

Reserves will not receive the benefits of the bonus points for that position.

Team members picking up the slack

With the new reserve system in place, we hope to eliminate team members writing for multiple positions as much as possible. This option will still be open to team members, however, only if they actively seek a reserve in the reserve thread first. If nobody responds to that request, somebody in that team will be able to fill in for another position.

Like reserves, there will be no bonus points awarded to that position.

Extensions:

Each team member gets 5 extensions to use throughout the 13 rounds, which will be monitored closely by both Ash (Fire The Canon) and myself. If you believe you need an extension please post in here first, and then in the game thread to let Ash know. Once you use your 5, you cannot have anymore and should be writing for the round. Obviously, I understand that sometimes you just cannot write but if you're not submitting simply because 'you don't want to' then I shall not be best pleased, neither will the rest of the team.

If we get to the finals then this will change.

16. I joined FF.net Jan 09 and just recently met my five year anniversary. I was writing back then but it was pretty bad, most of my writing is inspired by challenges and most of my stories are written between late 2012 and now.
17. Xbox, I love taking things apart and putting them back together, I marathon TV badly. I watched SPN Seasons 1 to 9.13 in two and a half weeks, if you add up that time thats eight whole days. It was scary. I love sport (football, rugby, tennis), but I'm currently far from healthy enough to play any. I love reading and writing both fanfic and original stuff.

Hi team!

Thanks for accepting me as a Beater. I am new to things like this but will try to do my best. Lately I've been writing about a story or chapter to a story per week so I think I can handle the "load", it might actually inspire me :)

I write a variety of subjects, mainly dealing with the school years of Harry and Hermione. When it comes to pairings, I prefer to ship Harry and Hermione, although Luna is a welcome addition too. I've recently started a Harry/Tonks story mainly to try the pairing out. I used to bash the Weasleys a lot but I'm toning that down recently. Ginny is actually a very redeemable character (although I still prefer not to ship her with Harry). Ron... well he's not my favourite and I'll leave it at that. If you read something I posted you'll quickly find out what I really think about him *evil grin*.

4. Hogwarts House and Reason: Ravenclaw. I am a knowledge seeker to the core. Gryffindor is out since I like to think before I act. Slytherin is out because I have a strong moral code and will not do anything to get what I want. Hufflepuff is out because I am a bit of a "loner".

5. Why You Wanted To Be Involved In This Competition: I love writing short stories, and this way I can get into contact with other short story writers on this site. Plus it might help a little in getting more readers!

6. Why You Specifically Chose This Team/Position: Have you seen how awesome the Magpies emblem is? Asides from that, I mainly chose this since I wanted to be a Chaser or Beater, and this position was open.

7. Favourite Harry Potter Film: The Goblet of Fire. It is the first film that was improved on the book in many aspects IMO, and the actors really got into their roles at this point. Plus the tournament was filmed in a very exciting way.

8. Favourite Harry Potter Book: The Order of the Phoenix. Such a good plot and both Hermione and Harry really grow as characters here. Plus it has Umbridge, who is my favourite evil person in the series.

9. Favourite Harry Potter Character: Hermione Granger. The real hero of the series.

15. Your Strengths and Weaknesses as a Writer: I like to think I'm pretty good at ideas and dialogues, my weakness is that I tend to do "talking heads" a lot. Action scenes are not something I write easily.

16. How Long You've Been Writing Fanfiction/What Inspired You: I've been writing since the 1990s in various genres, but most of that is not something I particularly like (if it even exists still). I've been writing on this site since June of last year after reading here for several years now, and I thought I'd try it out. For some reason people seem to actually like my stories *grin*

Why You Specifically Chose This Team/Position: To be honest, I realised that if you're going to cheer for a team, it has to be the best and the Magpies have won the league none less than 32 times so ... Besides, my soccer team also has black and white as team colours so there's also that. xD As for being a Seeker, I was invited last season to join as Seeker for the Holyhead Harpies and found out it really suits me. I need the adrenaline of having to post before the other team's Seeker to write well and fast. xD

5. Why You Wanted To Be Involved In This Competition: I've been reading HP fanfiction for years now and just recently started my first story. I was told of the competition in a PM and thought it sounded like fun. I'm hoping it pushes my creativity.

15. Your Strengths and Weaknesses as a Writer: My strengths are that I am very aware and try hard to keep characters in characters. I am usually pretty good with grammar, although I have a comma problem. As for weaknesses, I am a horrid speller and it often takes me a while to figure out how I want to word things.

16. How Long You've Been Writing Fanfiction/What Inspired You: Only since December. I've been reading it for much longer though. I actually had a very weird dream that inspired my story.

So this is a very tough question for me, because I love all books. I did enjoy the Percy Jackson series, A Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, LOTR, anything by Dean Koontz.
