![]() Author has written 14 stories for Silmarillion, and Lord of the Rings. Hello! I am Elfhild, one of writers behind "The Circles," a series of alternative universe fan novels based upon the works of J. R. R. Tolkien. The other writer involved in this project is Angmar, and we have been writing this series since November 14, 2004. As of 2013, we have written around twelve books, but only half of them are online. (We are rather slow in posting updates...) Chapters of Book Five, the volume we are currently editing for the web, are posted on our personal homepage. Older books are also posted on other fanfiction archives, such as here on Fanfiction.Net. "The Circles" explores two very intriguing questions: "What if the Witch-king wasn't killed at Pelennor?" and "What if Sauron regained the One Ring?" Our books are also different in that they focus more on Tolkien's world than his characters. Angmar and I would rather explore the uncharted lands and cultures of Tolkien's world and create vast deserts and exotic cities than we would write another story about the members of the Fellowship of the Ring. There are so many wonderful and talented writers who do an admirable job of depicting Tolkien's beloved characters, and Angmar and I wanted to follow a different path, one which was far less traveled. Some of "The Circles" books do not feature a single canon character, but have tons of unique Haradric, Khandian, and Nurniag characters. In case you were wondering, "The Circles" isn't a romance. If you want to read a romantic story about the Nazgûl, I would recommend "The Cursed Queen of Angmar" by Khazar Khum. When I am not writing with Angmar, I write stand-alone short stories and drabbles set in Tolkien's universe, many of which are written for challenges. Recently I have started making illustrations of characters in the "Circles" stories, which can be found on my DeviantArt page - http:// A NOTE ABOUT OUR NAMES Apparently the fact that we take the names of two of the characters in our "Circles" series is confusing to some readers, causing them to believe that the characters of the Witch-king of Angmar and the peasant girl Elfhild are self-inserts. However, this is not the case. We first started writing "The Circles" in a chat room, and it was just easier to use the names of our characters as our screen names. Since we had been using these screen names for years and our friends knew us as Angmar and Elfhild, we decided to carry the tradition over to our user names on fanfiction archives. It made more sense than coming up with two new pseudonyms just for the sake of archival purposes. HOW TO ADD CHAPTER BREAKS ON FFN http:/// TILDE cj_whitehound/Fanfic/ffn_how-to.htm Because it's so annoying that we can't put in three asterisks in a row to break up a chapter! This site gives a ton of alternatives that are supposed to work on here and tells you what characters can and cannot be used. Some of the textual dividing lines the author lists are very decorative! Sadly, FFN won't allow the use of tildes (the little squiggly mark beside the 1 on most American keyboards) so I can't direct link the site. However, you can make a paste of the address and use an actual tilde in place of the word "TILDE" and the link should work. Just remember to remove any spaces in the address. |
