A little about me:

Thanks to everyone who has been reading my stories and posting such kind reviews, it puts a smile on my face knowing that people enjoy these tales as much as I enjoy writing them. I really appreciate it and it makes me miss writing. I really hope to come back.

What makes this even more complicated for me is that I am constantly coming up with new ideas for stories before I finish my current projects. I would like to write a crossover of Battlestar Galactica and Terminator, and I recently got an idea about writing a crossover of Battlestar Galactica and Beast Wars. I even thought about writing a BSG / Firefly crossover, but I've come to the conclusion that such a crossover is a challenge. BSG's dark and sobering universe constrasts strongly with the much lighter and occasionally humorous 'verse of Firefly. I would need to invest a huge amount of thought into finding an appropriate way to combine those diverse elements.

I briefly flirted with the idea of a BSG / Warhammer 40k crossover, probably something where the Colonial Fleet would pursue a relationship with the Tau (40k universe is an terrifying place, and the only open-minded people in that world happen to be aliens...btw, if someone likes this idea and wants to run with it, go ahead by all means), but personally I felt 40k would go entirely against the grain of BSG. Edward James Olmos signed onto the show, and likes it, largely due to the absence of aliens. 40k, as well as Star Wars, Stargate, and Star Trek, are such crowded universes that I just do not feel like the BSG crew would feel at home. This is not to slight those authors who do write in those universes. Many of them do excellent work and I enjoy reading their stories. They can make things work that I am just not capable of pulling off, and I really respect them for that.

Some more about me:

-history and education double major.

-athletic, though I am jack-of-all-trades and a master-of-none. I can play a lot of sports including football, fencing, paintball, basketball, volleyball, and swimming. Basketball and paintball are my passions, but I don't have a lot of bball moves and I'm often broke so I can't hit the battlefield real often. I never really dominate in anything, but that's fine by me as long as I am having fun and getting a great workout. Lately I've really gotten into football, since I play in a recreational league on Friday.

-I've pretty much fallen away from video games. I generally find sports more interesting these days, and video games lately seem to cost more while offering less satisfying experiences. I do enjoy the Total War Series (played Rome and Medieval 1), the Kessen series, Myth II: Soulblighter (I find the Myth universe to be fascinating), a handful of the Final Fantasy games (7, 8, 12), Shadow of the Colossus, Darkcloud, Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Soulblade (the original game in the Soulcaliber series). Of course, these are pretty much old games. Zelda and Madden are the only games I play on next-gen consoles. Oh, and I play Magic: The Gathering. Collected cards for years, play casually with friends.

-when it comes to TV, Battlestar Galactica is the pinnacle of it all for me, with Firefly in a close second. I also enjoy Burn Notice and The Tudors. Rome is also excellent. When it comes to animation, I enjoy watching Fullmetal Alchemist (I also collect the manga), Ghost in the Shell, and Beast Wars (you can find it on youtube now...I am not kidding, go look it up). Oh yeah, and Batman: The Animated Series.

-as for books, I favor history and historical fiction. Anything can get me excited, but I am most interested in ancient Greece and Rome, feudal Japan, and Medieval Europe. I do read some sci-fi, Blade Runner and Enders Game are two of my favorite books. If there's one guy I really look up to, he's Marcus Aurelius. I keep his book by my bed, and I read it whenever I feel the need, usually before some event in my life that feels important or influential. However, my personal hero is Alexander the Great. I admit I carry a very romantic view of him. I do not object to viewing him in a more realistic fashion, but I prefer to believe that he carried at least some noble intentions in his heart during all his great conquests and adventures.

Stories currently online, both works in progress:

1.) With the Help of a Spartan: I apologize to readers, I've hit a serious case of writers block. I thought I knew exactly where I wanted to take this story, but the truth is that I only know the major themes I want to address. I just have to resolve a bunch of issues with the narrative before I can commit more to print. I appreciate your support and your kind reviews and I promise that the updates will return. Currently I've gone back into the story and have been playing with some new ideas.

I also know I made a bunch of errors, particularly in that I spelled Reach as "Breach" and that I assumed Longswords could travel with FTL. I played the first 2 Halo games, and I have knowledge of the overall plot, but I am way more confident in my knowledge of BSG than Halo. The fact that I did not read any of the books means that I end up trying (and often failing) to do reasearch on the internet about Halo, and I sometimes struggle to appropriatly render the characters from Halo. I appreciate anyone who points out my mistakes, I want to get this right. I intend to go back and fix the mistakes already pointed out by close readers.

2.) Myth: the Fullmetal Alchemist: some of you may point and say I abandoned my audience for the first fic by starting this one. That's a fair statement. On my end, though, I had ideas for this story stirring around in my mind, along with a burning desire to explore the world of Myth. There are probably some readers who have never heard of Myth: TFL or Myth II: Soulblighter before. In that case, I heartily recommend you pick up those games and play them. They are available on amazon for less than 10 each. They're games you have to experience once in life. A lot of the energy I got that produced the first two chapters came out of a really tough time in my life, so I am actually rather proud of this story. It helped me deal with the bad things happening around me. I am glad that people are enjoying this story too. I need to update this story as well.

There are excellent BSG/HALO crossovers out there. Read "Gods and Demons" by the TheGodfatherSJP. Its fantastic, to say the least. "Red In Tooth and Claw" by JA Baker is also a great read. In my opinion, these are the best two Halo crossovers out there, and I wish I could write close to the level of these two authors. They help inspire me, and their example reminds me that I really need to get back to updating...
