Author has written 14 stories for Criminal Minds, and StarTrek: The Original Series. Helena Fallon is the pen name of a quiet woman who has been writing the stories from her very vivid imagination since childhood. I have been writing unpublished fanfiction for over 30 years! It all began late one night while sitting with my librarian friend, at my kitchen table, and I said, "What if..." and proceeded to tell her a Star Trek story about characters from the original series. My friend enjoyed it so much that over the years I have written down many other stories, and even more exist in my imagination, about various characters from different television series and pastiches of Sherlock Holmes. These have always been to entertain myself, when I needed to be distracted from from the pain of rheumatoid arthritis and I couldn't sleep, and to entertain my friends. My recent appearance among the writers of this site is due to the encouragement of REIDFANATIC and her expertise of how to post a story. Seriously, I am self taught when it comes to computers so my first efforts on this site, "Conversations", ended up with the chapters being published as separate entities because I had not mastered posting chapters!! I have today just reorganised "Conversations" in chapters with a little editing for line spacing and some spelling mistakes I'd noticed. Unfortunately, this process meant that the wonderful reviews readers had posted are no longer there, but I did print them off, so I have a copy to remind me of the kindness of the readers who visit this site. I hope all readers will continue to enjoy the sharing of ideas they find within fanfiction, and please remember that we writers are human and appreciate the occasional comment from you. Helena, 10 November 2007 Please note that I spend a lot of time and thought creating my original characters to play alongside those in fanfiction television series and books. These invented characters are my own intellectual property and will often appear in several stories, and are not for use in anyone elses stories! May10th 2008. September 9th 2010. My sincere apologies to my readers about the lack of updating of my story, The Interregnum. I have experienced a very difficult few months with an extremely bad flare up of my arthritis that has prevented me from typing and sitting for any length of time. At one stage, I just ached all over and all my joints were stiff and badly swollen. Finally, medication is slowly having some effect. It is frustrating for me and I don't like spoiling the flow for readers but this was something that has severely affected my life this summer (even more than last year with my back problems). I hope to continue posting as soon as I'm able and ask for your patience. Thank you, Helena November 17th 2010. A week ago I was diagnosed with glaucoma and I am now on eye drops in the hope that they will slow down the disease. I am still adjusting to the eyedrops and experiencing some of the common side effects. However, it does mean that my eyesight is not wonderful (it never has been because I am very shortsighted) but I'm beginning to notice that I sometimes miss out the odd letter from words, especially i's which on re-reading I don't pick up to correct. I'm sorry about this and I will try to get a second reader when possible. I have some much in my imagination that I would like to share that I hope that I will still be able to post stories despite these problems. June 19th 2011. I have a number of pressing family problems that are taking up a lot of my time at the moment. I hope that readers will understand that sometimes 'reality' comes first and I will post story updates as soon as I can. Thank you, Helena. December 11th 2011. My time to write has been severely limited for the past six months as I had family matters taking up most of my time and then workmen in the house...whose work was not satisfactory and that led to further problems. This weekend, I have finally got my 'scribbles' out and 'Shadow Dancing' is being worked on again aswell as 'Crossing the Line' my Trek story...New chapters will be posted for Christmas. My apologies to my readers but real events have demanded my attention! 25th September 2012. Dear Readers, I have been experiencing a very distressful time at home where I began to suspect that my husband, of 36 years, was being unfaithful to me. The lies to me and our children have been very hurtful because I have always trusted him when he travelled around the world. I won't bore anyone with the details but the family computer has been bugged with spyware (He lectures in computing but has never taught me how to use the computer. I am self taught but I have learnt enough to have become suspicious and had the computer checked.) I am today changing my password on ths site in the hope that he does not delete my stories in retaliation for finding out that last night he was with his Research Assistant...and yes he is that petty and controlling. My present experiences will probably one day work themselves into one of my stories but the reality is too raw at the moment and I need perspective. Meanwhile my two present stories will be worked on piecemeal outside the home because although the present spyware has been removed it can always be replaced. I will post as I can and I apologise to my readers for all the delays. 1st.April 2013. My life continues to be difficult and since September my husband has replaced the spyware on the family computer and tried to stop me using my laptop. In a space of two months (December -February) my laptop was twice infected with malware and had to be taken to a forensics expert to clean the machine.. I now have my machine locked away in a friend's case to prevent any further tampering and and I'm reluctant to involve computers belonging to local friends in case their machines are targetted. It is all very petty but I have learnt to cope in order to keep a roof over my head and more importantly so that my sons still have a place to live. Unfortunately, my sight problem is getting worse and by evening it is difficult to write at the computer screen. The stories are still there waiting to be written up and formatted for this site but it is far slower that I would like. Perhaps my eye mediction will be altered with my next hospital visit. The situation is further complicated by the fact that I cannot log onto this site at my local library because it is 'barred' for general use on the public machines. 20th.January 2020. I cannot believe that it is so long that I was on this site! My home situation is still difficult but family matters had to come first and my children are now settled in their own careers so this Mum can turn once more to herself. My sight has deteriorated quite a lot; I had three operations last year at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. This included having an experimental micro shunt fitted in my left eye and this seems to be working well so far. However, my my right eye has not responded to two operations and I may be facing more intervention later this year. All the eye drops over the years have sensitized my eyes to light from screens and I can only sit at a computer screen for a small amount of time. The stories are still in my head and being transferred to paper, when completely written they will eventually,be it slowly, transferred to this site. |
