![]() Author has written 13 stories for Avatar: Last Airbender, and Shutter Island. I'm back! After a two year hiatus from the ATLA fandom, the horrible ATLA movie adaptation inspired me to come back to the fandom. Where have you been? I actually ventured into Harry Potter fanfiction for a while, archiving over 300,000 words (or something like that), on my other account, sprite.isnt.lemonade. I came back and read several of my stories from the ATLA fandom, and I can definitely tell that my writing style and concept of characterization has dramatically changed in the past two years. This leaves me kind of frustrated for stories like "Accidentally in Love" which I will be continuing despite the long delay between chapters. I am not happy with several aspects of the early chapters, particularly the characterization, but I will forge on anyway and be grateful that at least I noticed an improvement. Why did you come back? Again, the horrible movie, and the desperate need to write. I liked the Harry Potter fandom very much, and may return to it eventually, but I just had too many novella stories going at once and couldn't keep up with all of the updates and insanely intricate plots I had thought up, so I had to take a step back. I've been taking a break from writing in general since December (due to school and whatnot), but now I'm back and ready to write regularly again (I've missed it). About Me I was a HUGE fan of Avatar back when the show was still on, and I'm still a fan, I'm just not obsessive like I used to be. I do in fact have a life outside of tv (I don't really even watch tv anymore). I like reading (especially fanfiction), and I'm currently tackling "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. I am going into my first year of college this year, and I plan on eventually majoring in Economics and perhaps Political Science as well. I am deeply involved in speech and debate, and that takes up much of my time, so forgive me if the updates are spread out from now on, but at least there WILL be updates. I am trying to gain fluency in German, so I've taken up reading what little I can of German fanfiction, and I'm trying to translate the first Harry Potter book from German to English (as a side hobby). As for my stories, I used to write for the comedy genre, but my writing preferences have changed over the past several months, and now, I prefer to write darker, character-driven pieces. Intricate plot-pieces are fun, but very time consuming, so I won't attempt to write too many stories with crazy, twisting plots. I don't like reading or writing romances, they just bore me to tears because it all becomes repetitive after a while. Unless its an original or well-written romance, I won't read it. I definitely prefer reading and writing one-shots; call me a hypocrite, but nothing annoys me more than reading a really good story only to have the author never update it again. I don't really have preferences regarding shipping anymore, as again, I don't care too much for romances (in the ATLA fandom...Harry Potter has some interesting romance stories, however). My biggest pet peeve in fanfiction is when characters are out-of-character. It drives me nuts. I've learned a lot about deep characterization and really understanding what the person's all about from my stint writing for the Harry Potter fandom, so this is very important to me. I usually write stories centered around Zuko, however "Accidentally in Love" is centered around Ursa and Hakoda, strangely enough. That's all. Go read :) |
