Hello, Fanfiction. I just wanted to say that my writing career for the most part has continued on into the realm of original work. Anything you see here is a fossil of what used to be, back in my early days of word vomit. More than likely, I will create more fanfiction, but for now, I consider most things on this profile to be purely reminiscent that I hope to keep around for a long time because I'm sappy. - x.vivace, November 2016 "I'm an idealist. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way." Carl Sandburg GENERAL INFORMATION: Something about me: I like bread. When someone asks me what my favorite food is, I say, "Bread." Want to know why? Too bad, I'm telling you anyway. Bread is diverse--like people. You have sub rolls, flatbread, doughnuts, rye, pumpkin bread, Texas toast, muffins.. Okay, now that we're past that, don't you agree that the term "bread" is simply too..unspecific? According to my handy iPod dictionary, bread is: "an ethnic quality or affiliation resulting from racial or cultural ties." Oh, wait. Sorry. That's the definition of ethnicity. One sec..Ah, here we go. Bread: "Food made from dough or flour and usally raised with yeast or baking powder and then baked." (lol, baked..) So, yeah, technically, bread is bread, no matter what, but there are just too many types of bread for it to simply be called, "Bread". I mean, come on, man. You're killing me! What TYPE of bread? Wheat? White? Is it rolled in spices? Dipped in salsa? Glazed with powdered sugar?! This is why I am always thoroughly disappointed when I say my favorite food is bread, and no one asks what kind. I could have a deep, philosophical conversation with you about the origins of bread if you'd just ask, but no. You don't want to hear about my ultimate dream of going to a bakery and sampling every type of bread they sell. You don't want to hear about the first time I bit into a baguette and cried. So you know what, if you're reading this, I want you to send me a private message telling me about your favorite food and share any random stories you might have about said food. Because I know how it feels to not be able to express all that pent-up love inside you, and I don't want to see you in agony any longer! Anyway, the point of this monologue is to say that bread is delicious, and I seem to have developed an unhealthy obsession with the stuff. Help me. (Yeah, that's right. I just wasted approximately a minute and thirty-six-and-a-half seconds of your life talking about bread.) Something else about me: I have been writing since I was eleven or so. I know, I don't have the extensive "I've been writing since I could form a decent thought process" backstory, and I'm okay with that. I have a self-diagnosed anxiety disorder that I've been battling with quietly for...well, my entire life, but I've never told my mom or any of my friends because they really don't need to worry about me. I flip out at every health problem. I want to go to college but I don't know what I want to do with my life. Writing quotes I like: "A synonym is a word you use when you can't spell the other one." Baltasar Gracián. "Writing, I think, is not apart from living. Writing is a kind of double living. The writer experiences everything twice. Once in reality and once in that mirror which waits always before or behind." Catherine Drinker Bowen, Atlantic, December 1957. "A writer and nothing else: a man alone in a room with the English language, trying to get human feelings right." John K. Hutchens, New York Herald Tribune, 10 September 1961. "Do not put statements in the negative form. "If I don't write to empty my mind, I go mad." Lord Byron. "What no wife of a writer can ever understand is that a writer is working when he's staring out of the window." Burton Rascoe. "A writer's mind seems to be situated partly in the solar plexus and partly in the head." Ethel Wilson. "No author dislikes to be edited as much as he dislikes not to be published." Russell Lynes. "The artist's only responsibility is his art. He will be completely ruthless if he is a good one... If a writer has to rob his mother, he will not hesitate: The "Ode on a Grecian Urn" is worth any number of old ladies." Faulkner, quoted in M. Cowley, Writers at Work, 1958. "The most beautiful things are those that madness prompts and reason writes." André Gide, Journals, 1894. "Imitation is the highest form of pissing me off. Quit stealing my content and violating my copyright." Jen T. Verbumessor. (This one always makes me laugh.) "Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depth of your heart; confess to yourself you would have to die if you were forbidden to write." Rainer Maria Rilke. "There are thousands of thoughts lying within a man that he does not know till he takes up the pen and writes." William Makepeace Thackeray. (This one probably won't make sense to you, but it happens to be one of my favorites, even if no one else understands how this is related to writing in any way.) "Every mummy has a story." A magazine my eighth grade science teacher made me read (I really wish I could remember the title!). This was in an article about how Egyptians used to mummify their pets. I think it stuck with me because every time I read it, it reminds me that there is no such thing as "having nothing to write about". You just have to look. Fandoms I may be or have been writing for: Homestuck Recent obsession(s): My boyfriend: Yes, I am cliche. But I love him so yeah. :) The Sims: Best game ever. Hands down. | |||||||
