![]() Author has written 13 stories for Harry Potter. So just what have I been doing for the last 9 years? That working I mentioned below; I was a travel agent. Not the best idea I had. I just can't do work in an office. After 12 months of that I went back to study. Kitchen Operations, that time. I got a job in a Chicken butchers. Much more my thing, and I loved it. Unfortunately we had a pretty nasty budget delivered by a new government (back in 2014), which made people much more cautious about their spending. I managed to hold onto my job by the skin of my teeth, but everyone lost hours. Frankly I was too busy stressing about money and supporting my family to have any kind of ability to write - although I probably could have knocked off a few one-shots of Molly and Arthur stressing every time one of the kids needed something new. :-D The 2015 budget was even worse. People were even more cautious with their spending, the cost of utilities and shop rents sky rocketed, and by September of that year I was unemployed. Back to school for me! This time in something I had never even considered. Disability Support. I actually enjoyed it, which is just as well. So that's what I do now. Meanwhile, the family has grown into young adults. We've had some tough times, but we've got through it. Sexual assaults, gender dysphoria, suicide attempts, depression, anxiety, self harm. Druggy boyfriend, violent girlfriend, failure at school, a sudden housemove. They've come out of the other side of it stronger. Where was HP during all of this? Still lurking around, in the background, as a nice escape when things got a bit much. I've always felt a little bit guilty about abandoning my writing, and leaving a half finished story. Life has settled considerably, so let's see if I've got the spoons to finish this thing. Oh, and now I'm in my late 40's. Blimey. ON HIATUS!* I've been busy studying, and now I'm working. Hopefully I'll learn how to do two things at once, at some point, and get back on it! My missing moments ... "Done To Death" ... because that's what they are. :-) There's so much good stuff out there, but I've decided to add to it anyway. I do have a clear idea of where I'm going with everything, but it's going to take a while to get it all out there ... there are four of us in the house and we're all in major competition for computer time. It seems to be the done thing to say something about oneself. So. I'm a divorced mother of three, in my late 30's (ETA updated to early 40's - when did THAT happen? O_o). I love The Harry's. I'm also a fan of Trixie Belden, Frances Parkinson-Keyes, Robert Ludlum and Clive Cussler (particularly Dirk Pit). I didn't read The Harry's until 2008, when the mother of my daughters school friend (what a mouthful) gave me books 1-6 because she didn't quite "approve of their message." Hmm. I don't have much to say about that, each to their own I suppose ... and I'm certainly grateful because I LOVE the books. As soon as I finished the free-bee's I had to go and buy 7. Another reason to love them! My oldest was one of those kids who wouldn't crack a book even if his life depended on it, but he eventually picked up HP4 (pretty much just to shut me up) because I was constantly saying things like Yeah, the movie is good, but the book has tonnes more in it!. That was in January of 2009, and by March he'd read all 7 ... these days he'll read anything. YAY FOR HARRY! That's about it, really. :-) I'm on twitter. http://twitter.com/#!/totallyawry |
