![]() Author has written 2 stories for Tomb Raider. * Update July 2016 * Yes I've been gone a very long time from this site. My life went crazy, in good and bad ways. Recently though, in a very good way. Really, I've only just started getting back into the world of reading books and writing my own Fanfiction. The *only* fanfiction I'm writing at the moment is 'The Undiscovered Journey', which is a Tomb Raider story written the way I imagine the character of Lara Croft. There's another chapter 95% completed for that. Yes you read that right. I honestly don't know if the original story I envisioned can be written, but all I can do is try. It's getting there now. I'm also writing a completely original book. Who knows where that will go. I'll finish the first three chapters and see what I can do with it. :-) Cheers. Terry. Did you ever read a book and say to yourself "I can do better?" Do you sit in a movie theatre and roll your eyes at the shallow characters who were never properly developed in the first place. When the villain shoots them, or they're crushed by tons of falling rocks, you simply don't care! Well... that person is me also! I'm no silver demon when it comes to writing. Far from it if you really want my opinion. But you only live once... right? So here's me seeing if I really can do better. It's harder than it looks... isn't it? If you really want to read a fantastic book then go no further than "Magician" by Raymond E Feist. The best book yet written, in my humble opinion. Other writers I read are: George R. R. Martin I live on the sunny West Coast of Australia, which is a truly excellent place! NOTE: Thanks to those (you guys know who you are!) who've picked up on a few details. I owe you all one! NOTE II: Many established writers seem to knock using an established universe for your own story, calling it lazy, or a cop out. I see where they're coming from, but in my opinion, there's no better way to hone writing skills than to write within an established universe. You don't need to spend time researching and building your characters so much, they're there waiting for you to a certain extent. You can concentrate on the writing for now, and build a truly original world later in life if that's what you want to do. NOTE III: Some of you may have noticed, the more savvy readers out there. I've changed writing styles and mucked with my sentence structuring a fair amount since starting this story. There's issues I'm fully aware of that are all too plain with a good and decent read through. I literally have piles of books on my desk which I study to see how those authors have put their writing together, then try refining what I do. I won't make an excuse for shabby writing. No way. What you see is the best I could do at the time. I welcome all comments, even if you have some constructive criticism to impart. I realise I am far from perfect, but that doesn't stop me trying to get there. |
