Author has written 2 stories for Winnie-the-Pooh, and Legend of Zelda.

I've been writing stories ever since I first discovered a word processor. (I was about four at the time) While I didn't write anything half decent till I started taking creative writing classes eleven years later (about 15), it's always been a joy to me to craft interesting characters and worlds out of things that capture my imagination. While I never was much of a fanfiction writer, most of my older work was blatant rippoffs of kingdom hearts, zelda, star wars, and dragon ball Z, so I think that'll count :P However, a friend of mine here at collage has gotten me interested in fanfiction, so I'm going to try my hand at writing it again. (you will never see the pokemon fanfic I wrote as a child, it'll burn out your eyes) While I haven't written any serious fanfics yet, I have a fascination with the world and magic seen in Majora's Mask, so expect some zelda fanfic from me soon.

I'm a firm believer of leaving characters and worlds how the authors made them. While the characters can grow, change, progress, and fall, I still think they should call true to the original character. (Something plausibly within reason. Note, the "gone evil" is not outside of the realm reason, since we all have the capacity to fall. It just should be done believably). After all, if you like a work well enough to put the time into expanding upon it, you should respect the author's brain child enough to keep it true to its roots. We don't need any gory whinny the pooh (unless it's done as a parody), foul-mouthed link, skanky sailor moon, or kindergarden-friendly Code Geass. This is my philosophy when thinking about works based off of another's: stay true to the roots (unless you're doing it as a joke)

I. Personal Information

Gender: Male

Location: Idaho, United States

Age: 18

Education: Going to BYU Idaho baby!!

Motto: “Just go with it.” (As boring as that seems, it was actually a big step in my life. I used to over analyze EVERYTHING. Even what order to eat my starburst in. So letting loose and just going with it is important for me.)

Likes: Girls (of course), programing (gasp, a writer who PROGRAMS? I even do it for a job), video games (gotta love Brawl!), fantasy, creative writing classes, and (of course) writing

Dislikes: Overly cliched fiction (yes, it really bugs me, lol), hard boiled eggs not boiled long enough (they're so freaking nasty .

Favorite Video Game Characters

Riku, Axel, Namine, Link (what'd you expect?), Emil (especially when he's in ratatosk mode, or the times when he's not a pansy), Sheena, Tom Nook (yes. Seriously)

Favorite Anime Characters

Mao, Lelouch Lamperouge, Light Yagami, Suzaku Kururugi, C.C., Harima, Yakamo

II. Writing

Goals in writing:

Innovation:

While fanfiction does limit the innovation possible (compared to regular fiction), I always strive to be new and innovative in my ideas. It is my goal to never write the story EVERYONE has read (or at least try to). My only acception to this is when I write parodies, since the point is to (generally) stay very close to the cliches of a work and mock them.

Quality of prose:

Fanfiction generally has a very bad reputation for being poorly written. However, I try to hold myself to the same standards of quality no matter what I write. So, like many great authors on this site, I will put a lot of work into making my prose flow.

Surreal Realism:

I'm aware that with some works of fiction, there isn't much you can go off in the way of interesting and realistic ideas. However, since these are not the areas I prefer to work in (ignoring my Winnie the Pooh parody), I always try to explore the more interesting ideas the original left unexplored. And I always strive to make everyone (yes, even mario) feel like a real person. However, straight realism doesn't make for good fiction (life gets pretty boring sometimes), and we read fiction to escape reality to a degree, so there must always be the element of the surreal and the fantastic, even in works lacking any sort of magic. (love prevailing over everything in a real-life world is the fantastic, since it's stuff of fantasy. Even if it does happen sometimes in real life.)

Inspirations:

Music:

I find the one single thing that inspires me the MOST is music. Music speaks to me on a level even amazing writing cannot, and triggers my imagination in a way nothing else can. That being said...

Amazing writing:

Being as picky about fiction as a creative writing major is bound to be, there are only a few works that I consider to be truly amazing. (and, to blaspheme against what my teachers have taught me, these aren't the old works of fiction my charles dickens, though those ARE pretty good). A few of these amazing books are Warbreaker, Mistborn, The Lost Years of Merlin, and Lord of the Rings (even if I think his style is too wordy)

GOOD Anime:

Again, being picky does kind of limit the animes you enjoy. But there are a lot that I think are simply FANTASTIC. And they always inspire me with ideas and character traits (sadly, not generally for an actual fanfic though), and I can't help but write a story exploring the ideas I see unexplored

Video Games:

You can't play a game and not get an interesting idea. Let's face it, even playing Mario Party or Wii Sports is going to make some random idea pop up in your head.
