As a fanfiction writer, my ultimate goal is to enjoy my own writing. I'm not an aspiring professional writer, and I don't aim to write what I feel should have happened canonically. On the contrary, I would have enjoyed the canon so much that I sought to read more...and realized that what was out there didn't satisfy me, and so decided to write it myself. Some of them would probably interest others too, so why not share it and get some criticism too? That's why I'm here.

About My Stories Hosted Elsewhere

Some of my stories are now also hosted at other sites, particularly SpaceBattles and Sufficient Velocity. Typically these sites host the less polished drafts where I get some feedback or can fix typos before stories go on here. That means the stories here are usually behind what is hosted on those two sites. Additionally, there might be some content such as side stories, fan Omakes, information sheets, etc which won't always show up here but can be found on those sites. There are some formatting differences as well which could impact the reading experience a bit in certain cases. The "primary" forum host gets priority for my attention to comments, extra material and edits. I encourage dedicated readers that are interested in the deeper content, wish to participate in livelier discussions, or talk to me directly, to head over.

About Criticism and Reviewing

-Feel free to flame/insult me if you like. I don't mind, in fact, it's better if you aren't afraid to show me the true extent of your disdain for my work. Most people aren't capable of expressing the full extent of the disgust they are able to feel, but I would want to know if it bothers anyone that much, and flames/insults help get the point across if you lack more sophisticated language of negative critique. If words can't describe how bad my work is...I wouldn't want you to waste time thinking about how to describe it, it's alright to just tell me to eff off. It would be more helpful if you described exactly what was wrong and how to go about fixing it however.

-I only review when a story is good enough that I want to encourage you to write more or differently. Just getting a review from me at all means your story was worth reviewing. Where there are significant criticisms, you should not take that to mean that your story is bad. It just means that there are aspects which I think could be significantly improved. I will admit sometimes I've been guilty of criticizing only because I wanted a different story than what the author had in mind. If this is the case, just do your thing.

Q: Why was X abandoned?

A: Typically there are two possible reasons: I got bored of it or I couldn't think of anything good to continue it.

Q: If you have more chapters already written, why don't you publish them?

A: I give myself this time on schedule because I know that after I initially write the chapters, I am likely to want to make edits. In some cases it's because the story involves very intelligent characters and organizations, and simulating all of it is very difficult, so I need to keep a reserve for edits. I often keep unpublished drafts even ahead of the SB/SV hosts for this reason, while the SB/SV feedback serves as another layer of polishing before it gets here.

Q: Why did most of your Worm stories go on hiatus?

A: I got bored of writing them.
