*AN IMPORTANT ISSUE*

IF YOU ARE AN AMERICAN, ESPECIALLY ONE OF VOTING AGE: The US Congress is currently considering a bill called SOPA(Stop Online Piracy Act). On the surface, it appears to be just that- a bill that would allow the government and major corporations such as those in the movie and music industry to prosecute, blacklist, and effectively censor websites and even entire domain names that advocate and participate in illegal piracy activities. Sounds good, right? Wrong The bill defines what constitutes piracy and copyright infringement in very broad terms. This broad definition means that they could target a website that lets you download an entire movie, someone who just posts a Youtube video of themself singing to a favorite song, and everything in between! Those in violation would face a penalty that could include taking down and blocking the offending content or even something as extreme as forcing search engines like Google to remove the website or domain name from search results. And the real kicker?

They wouldn't even need PROOF of illegal activity. Only suspicion. It's like cops being able to search your home without getting a warrant first. The government's approach to piracy with SOPA is to shoot first and ask questions later, because the ends justify the means to them. This sort of thing is incredibly similar to how China censors its internet. This bill makes a mockery of our freedom. It flies in the face of the First Amendment's freedom of speech (or, if the judicial system doesn't agree with that, it at least falls under the Ninth Amendment). This sort of rights-murdering bill is exactly why our Founding Fathers were afraid of a large, powerful federal government.

I have signed online petitions telling Congress not to pass this bill, and I have sent an email expressing my displeasure to my state representative. If you're an American citizen, especially one of voting age, I strongly advise you do the same. We the people have a duty to remind the federal government that it cannot trample our rights and do whatever the hell it feels like. Don't let them turn the Land of the Free into the Land of the Tyrants.

My interests are complex and varied. I tend to know a topic before I talk about it, but I don't always think before I speak. I also read a lot of TV Tropes.

Some Things You Can Expect From My Writing: When I write, sometimes I deliberately attempt to subvert the norm. Sometimes I neglect my writing projects because college and real life demands the majority of my attention at a specific point in time. Sometimes I put too much detail into my ideas. I blame my tendency to remember lots of facts without trying. But if I want to do something and I want to do it well, I will put some effort into researching background info.
When I write I try to make the characters come alive. I flesh them out with quirks, flaws, talents, and even hidden fears all while doing my best to stay true to the personality. I want to make them seem like they're real people, responding to things with real human emotions and motivations. I seem to have a knack for being able to get inside a character's head.

Like many fans, when it comes to certain series I too have certain character pairings that I support. However, I respect that other people prefer to ship different pairings and I do my best not to condemn those preferences expressed in other works on this site. Yet in my writings I will express what pairings I choose to express, so don't automatically hate me just because my opinion is different than yours.
More often than not, I load my stories with ship tease rather than outright stating that two characters are together. If it looks like something's going to happen, don't be surprised if a scene change or interruption pops up. =P

If you wish to chat or tell me something, feel free to send a PM. I try to at least check my messages even if I'm too busy to write. Don't be afraid, I don't bite unless I've been sufficiently provoked.

Current Writing Status: Ugh just ugh. WAY too much college stress, then I'm worried about SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, and NDAA... And the holidays were filled with family busy-ness and colds and sniffles. In short, I was barely able to write a paragraph, let alone a chapter for an update.

Current Story Status: 1 story in progress, 1 concept being toyed with as a rough draft (I want at least 4-5 chapters roughed out before I finalize and upload any of it)

This is my idea to end character shipping wars: String theory, and the larger M theory, basically state that our universe exists inside of a 'membrane' and that a higher dimension contains the membrane of our universe along with many other membranes. So it's theoretically possible that there is more than just our own universe, and I also see no reason why each different shipping pair can't be canon in its own universe. So from my point of view, all pairings are canon in their own version of a series' universe and different shippers just prefer one alternate reality over another.

A friend and I are recruiting people for a Sonic/YGO crossover RP.

So far, our only requirements are:

1. Mature Attitude
2. Comfortable with RPing heterosexual and homosexual couples
3. Open to new ideas
4. Won't flip their lid if something doesn't match up to canon
5. Knows something about the canon for both series, or at least willing to learn (we may deviate from canon, but many of our ideas have roots that can trace back to canon)
6. doesn't mind typos (seriously, I know the unofficial Typo King of the internet)
7. NO CYBERING. PERIOD. Any details of a sex scene that are posted are ment to attract lulz or someone is gonna interrupt them. We don't write lemons for a living
8. Are ok with quick posts, and don't expect paragraphs as responses
9. We do not care if you know how to counter every card game strategy seen in the show. That is not our focus.
10. Puzzleshipping/Blindshipping. Enough said.
11. There are some canon characterxOC couples. No, the OCs are not sues.
12. NO MARY SUES
13. NO GODMODDING
14. WARNING: ONE OF THE RPERS IS GOOD AT YANDERES
15. There is a group called sticks and twigs. They are composed of people who starve themselves and others, and push their opinions onto others through terroristic methods. They are much like a cult. They are supposed to be killed. Deal with it.
16. WARNING: ONE RPER IS PREMED
17. Do note there are some fictional ailments listed.
18. TV tropes knowledge is helpful, but not absolutely necessary
19. Attention to any men possibly joining: most of the RPers are female. Therefor women topics will come up
20. As to add, said women are not girly girls
21. There is a lot of wiccan related things in this. If you have a problem with that, then don't join.

If you are interested and wish to know more, please contact me via PM. I have a sample of some of the things our RPs deal with in story format I can show you.

Random and/or Amusing Things I Learned While Researching Info for my Stories:

The written language of ancient Egypt was friggin' COMPLICATED! They had symbols for an alphabet, symbols for combinations of 2, 3, and even 4 consonants, and symbols that were added to clarify meaning and represented no phonetic value.

After staring at them for hours, I find I'm able to recognize, read, and even pronounce some ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics

Real life Egyptians had a nasty habit of not writing down the letters they considered vowels.

Luckily, thanks to some vocal sounds we don't have in English, the Egyptians considered the letters A, I, and O/U to be soft consonants.

There is an Egyptian creation myth that involves a god named Atem making the world by *ahem* pleasuring himself.

Royal blood was believed to be passed on from the mother, so pharaohs had to marry a princess to have a legit legal claim to the throne. That explains why so many seemed to marry their sisters/half-sisters. And yet nowhere in the YGO series does it seem as if Atem had a wife...

The Egyptian word 'amenrenef' means "he whose name is hidden" and, IMO, would have made a better alias for Atem than 'Yami'

The U added to Atem's name in the Japanese version of YGO would still have been a legit Egyptian word. Egyptians used U the way English speakers use S to make a word plural, so "Atemu" is Atem in the plural tense.

Japanese tend to think of Christmas the way Americans think of Valentine's: romantic instead of religious.

Japanese New Year is a big holiday, pretty much the whole country stops what it's doing to celebrate.

Requirements for a Japanese driver's license.

If Yugi were a real person, his hair would be about as tall as I am (a little over 5 feet) but his eyes would be level with my chest. (If you care to know how I figured that out, feel free to shoot me a PM.)

I probably should have written something like this a long time ago, but oh well...better late than never. Since most, if not all, of the stories I upload will be YGO-related, here's my 2 cents on some things about the series that probably will reflect in my writing.
(Do note the following statements are my OPINIONS, and thus I am free to say something as crazy as "Seto Kaiba is a blue-feathered duck" if I so choose. By reading this disclaimer you are now aware that the following section is me freely speaking my mind. You are free to disagree with anything I say, but don't get carried away and take it personally. If you ignore my previous statement and get all angry and send me nasty messages, I reserve the right to hang you upside down by your toenails and force you to listen to Rebecca Black sing FRIDAY in an endless loop.)

The Series: I saw the original YGO when I was a little kid and at the time I thought it was just another cartoon (a cool one) since I didn't know anything about anime or manga at the time. But the network airing the show never got past the first few episodes of season 4 (For some strange reason the network reset the show back to season 1 episode 1 after the first 2-3 episodes of season 4.) so I never even knew season 5 existed until I bought the manga.
I do own the english copy of every volume of the manga, I've seen season 0 before Youtube decided to ban it, and I've seen roughly the first half of the anime in Japanese. I don't abide by any one of them as a true 'canon' because some contradictions (such as Kaiba being included in the anime version of the Memory World arc) I could argue either way about if they make the series better or worse. As such, I tend to draw from the elements of all continuities (manga, sub, dub, and season 0) that fit best together.

The Sequals (GX, 5D, Zerxal, whatever other crazy name they invented): When I first heard about GX, I was excited. Then I found out Yugi only makes a brief cameo and Atem doesn't really come back at all and promptly lost all interest. Basically if there's no sexy pharaoh or cute little Yugi, I don't even want to know about the sequals.

I do not give a crap about the stupid card game!!! Like most of my female friends who are into YGO, I'm interested in the characters! (The fact that they are sexy is just a bonus)

YGO- TAS: I have heard of the abridged series, and I know a few of the jokes from friends, but in actuality I have never even seen it. It may sound shocking, but it's true.

Time: I tend to think that more time passes in the series than what we're usually clued in on. As in, time between major events like Death-T in the manga/season 0 and the start of Duelist Kingdom. (That specific example, the manga says Kaiba has been in a 'coma' ever since he got mindcrushed and that he's been that way for several months.) Another clue to this time issue is the blurb from a news clip in the Pyramid of Light movie that says Yugi has been 'playing duelmonsters for three short years'. So if the movie is canon that means it's been at least 3 years since Yugi's name became known to the world, which would have been either Duelist Kingdom (offically recognized as 'king of games' for winning) or back when he beat Kaiba (defeating someone with a widely-known reputation). Considering the Egyptian god cards are in Atem's deck, that puts the movie at least after Battle City, but I'm not sure if it'd be before or after the Doma arc (I never managed to watch all of season 4. Stupid network...).
For these and a few other reasons, I estimate that from the moment Yugi solved the puzzle to the moment Atem left for the afterlife took about 4 years.

Names: I grew up knowing the dub names, so I often use them out of familiarity (Yugi vs Yuugi for example) when talking casually. In my stories, I tend to stick with the Japanese names. There are a few exceptions however that I really prefer to use either the English or Japanese names.
Yugi vs Yuugi-- I use Yugi because I'm most familiar with it
Atem vs Atemu vs Yami or YamiYugi-- More familiar with 'Atem', and as I discovered when learning about Egyptian, adding the u would make his name plural. I tend to avoid calling him 'yami' or 'yamiyugi' unless there's a specific reason for it. I just don't get why some people say 'Atem' is a separate person from 'Yami'. To me they are one in the same, and since his real name is Atem that's what I call him.
Ishizu vs Isis-- Isis was one of the more major goddesses in Egyptian mythology, and to avoid confusion I use Ishizu for the human one and save Isis for the actual goddess
Tea vs Anzu-- I go with Anzu, because for the life of me I cannot get my keyboard to type the little accent mark that's supposed to be on the a of her English name

Atem/Yami and Yugi: They are not the same person, or two halves of a whole person, as far as I'm concerned. That's a theory that was started by fans. Canon material is a bit vague on their relationship at times, but never flat out states anything about them being half of each other. That theory is a load of bull, saying that things like Yugi's timidness is because he's missing his 'confidant other half' or that Atem started out as a psycho because he was 'missing his good side'. To me, Yugi's just a shy kid who learns to be more confidant. There are shy people in real life who aren't 'missing half of themselves' right? And Atem's not really evil in the beginning, it's more that he spent 3000 years ALONE trapped inside a tiny little puzzle. Can you say cabin fever?
You can disagree if you want, but that's my take on the whole thing. Atem is the pharaoh, while Yugi is a modern-day Japanese teen.

Canon Pairing: I don't really follow much shipping, and most of what appears in my stories is likely to be teasing or hints. That being said, there is one pairing I like personally, and a few that I don't. I'm more inclined to hint at Atem/YamiXYugi pairings. It just seems logical to me when I look at the series: They've known each other, possibly for a few years, by sharing a body and having a magical connection link their souls togther. Through this they get to know each other incredibly well. How many other people could possibly get to know Atem or Yugi on such a deep personal? I'd bet that it's few if any. So most of my hints stem from that.
I do not care for Anzu. At all. She's probably one of my least favorites in the series. Maybe it's because I used to be picked on by a girl who looked and talked like her...or maybe it's something else. But either way I personally wouldn't care if Anzu jumped off a cliff. And I do not like seeing her paired with Atem or Yugi. Friendly with them, okay I can see that. But unless it's onesided, I can't see her knowing/loving them on a level that matches how well they know each other.
I doubt I'll ever write any stories where romance is the main focus though. If it's there at all it'll be implied or in the background.

Amen Se Kari Me Djesef reviews
Stuck on an island in the Pacific, the former pharaoh Atem is certainly NOT in the afterlife where he's supposed to be. Peace won't last for long. No cards can save him; playtime is now over. Some parts may contain authentic Egyptian translations.
