What's New
March 19, 2012 - Hoping to get back into the writing/reading swing. Currently focusing on "A Day in Winterland," "Stolen," and a possible "Stolen" sequel.
CURRENTLY
Cubicle
"What're you guys up to?"
"World of Warcraft," Race answered without looking up from his computer.
“But... where are your interns?” David asked.
“We sent ours on a scavenger hunt,” Swifty answered, concentrating on the screen. “Y’know. It’ll teach them teamwork and all that stu - what the hell was that!” Swifty exclaimed, reabsorbed in the game. He was furiously jabbing at his keyboard.
David looked at Jack. “Why didn’t we think of that?”
“’Cause we ain’t got brains.”
Note: Inspiration came from a friend's office story, a random scene I was writing in Mission Newsies, and yes, ultimately, "The Office."

Stolen
Ellie mumbled honestly, “I’m not brave.” She looked out thoughtfully. “But sometimes you have to stand up for yourself, right?”
Note: What began as a rewrite of Thank You has now taken a brand new direction! We'll see how it turns out.
Awards: ["Summer Reading List" FF Awards 2010] 1st Place Summer's Most Dashing Hero (Skittery); 1st Place Summer's Leading Lady (Ellie)
COMPLETE
Allegretto
“It was one of the worst blizzards the city had ever seen. And back then, there was nothing like this Christmas banquet that the Children’s Aid Society is organizing. There was no one to look after us, no guaranteed shelter. So I was just like a lot of you kids: disillusioned. Hardened. I was a kid but didn’t have the heart of a kid. And then it happened, in that crazy blizzard of all times and places, I met her…”
Note: My first attempt at some Christmas fluff! Inspiration for this one came from a snowy day, some orchestral music, Imogen Heap, and a grumpy Skittery.
Shop Girl
The curtain just sneezed. Mush shook his head. The curtain just what? He thought he was hearing things, but just then, the curtain sprung to life with a ripple of movement.
"Ah-choo!"
Note: A short three-part fluff for the 2009 Holiday season.
Magic
Some people make a living by writing, or saving lives, making big decisions, putting parts together, adding numbers, teaching, keeping records, cooking, mixing solutions, inventing. I make a living performing “illusions.” That’s just fancy talk for “pulling a fast one on ya.”
Note: One shot written in a rush for Laelyn24's Summer Story Challenge. Inspired by a trip to Central Park.
HIATUS
Mission Newsies: The Case of the Missing Newspaper
At the doorway, Race stopped next to Mush but did not face him. “You’re a nice guy, Mush,” he said quietly as he pulled out a cigarette from his shirt pocket. “But you ain’t an agent yet.”
Note: After the surprisingly positive response, this silly story has become more than I had initially intended. Thank you for your support!
Nominations: 2006 NML Fanfiction Awards Best Mystery, 2007 NML Fanfiction Awards Best Mystery
Cowboys in New York
Note: Rewrite of a story from 2002. This story came about from some random musings, which were along the lines of, “Since Jack Kelly couldn’t go out West, what if the West came to him?”
PAST WORKS
Thank You
Note: Being that this was my first attempt at fanfiction after several years, I had many reservations. So I want to thank everyone who gave this story, and me, a chance!
To Want What Can Never Be (2002)
Note: A time travel story, which are always fun. I do not have a copy of this story, unfortunately - it disappeared because of computer problems (along with most of my early stories). I can’t remember it very well, but I’m sure it was very Mary Sue and very silly!
To Be in Your Arms Again (2002)
Note: Sequel to To Want What Can Never Be. Ten years have passed since the main character's trip to 1899. Featured newsie: Mush.
Fly With Me: The Musical (2002)
Note: The first fanfic introducing original character, Pegasus. This one was fun to write because I incorporated songs into the story, building it into a musical of sorts. I'd included songs from Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Grease, The Full Monty (the Broadway Musical), Moulin Rouge, among others. The story was about a privileged young girl escaping the strangling hold of her overprotective, jealous fiance. She locked eyes with Mush, and there the story began.
Awards: 2002 NML Awards 3rd Place Best Other Fic, 2002 Madison's Fanfiction Contest 1st Place
Cowboys in New York (2002)
Note: This story was about a young sharpshooter from the west, Spikes "Big Shot" Clayborne, who is completely lost in the big city. Featured newsie: Jack Kelly.
When We Dance (2002)
Summary: Two different worlds collide in this fairy tale of a Princess and a certain famous Newsboy.
Note: Inspired by the song, "When We Dance," by Sting. A time travel story. Princess Arianna of 17th century England finds herself in 19th century New York City. Featured newsie: Jack Kelly.
Untamable (2002)
Note: I don't exactly remember where this story was heading towards. The main character Meg was single, independent and confident. That is, until she met Skittery.
