Hi there everyone!

Surprise! I'm still alive! The last few years have been insane (graduated with my PhD, popped out a kid, etc.), but I finally have some time on my hands and am ready to write my next story!

My current story is called "Close to You." It's going to be a memory-loss fic but with some less traditional twists. It's inspired by trailers for The Vow. When the trailers for that movie came out, I basically went nuts. It just looked like the PERFECT movie. I dreamed up a thousand different scenarios for it and went to see it the night it came out. It was a good movie, but after all of my dreaming, sort of disappointing. So, this story is inspired by the trailers and not the movie itself. I have some scenes in my head that I'm really pumped to write. It's sort of a story within a story - through flashbacks, we'll see how Draco and Hermione fell in love, but we'll also be following them trying to navigate Draco's memory loss and negotiate their new relationship in the present.

In the meantime, check out my first story if you've never read it. It's not perfect (it's always so hard to read your own writing years later), but there are some funny parts that I'm still super into and I like the overall storyline a lot. "One Year, One Life" is about a Death Eater Rehabilitation program Hermione starts, with Draco as her first test subject. He lives with her for a year, and they learn more about each other, forgiveness, and life, while also getting into some pretty hilarious hi-jinx along the way. The story is pretty light with a lot of humor, but I try to explore some more serious stuff too. The characters have some conversations that I always thought they would have had, even in the canon world.

I also wanted to post a quick note about how I treat reviews. First of all, I obviously love them, as all authors do. When I am actively writing a story, I check the reviews frequently and try to incorporate the feedback I receive into my writing. After I have finished a story and labeled it complete, I still read reviews (and love love love reading new ones and seeing new people find my writing!), but I build off of them somewhat differently. If someone points out a blatant typo or mistake (such as when I had Draco's middle name inconsistent across two chapters), I will go back and fix that small detail. In terms of big picture issues, though, I do not plan to edit the story. The story is finished and I'm moving on, so I'm not re-writing any major parts of it. This does not mean, however, that this feedback is useless. I really like to read it, think about it, and learn from it for my future writing. For instance, one of the reviews I received for "One Year, One Life" commented that my characterization of Hermione got a little weak toward the end. I think this is very valid criticism - I think toward the end I was so focused on the plot and getting every detail right that I let my character development slip a little. This is a point I will keep in mind when writing future stories, but I've decided to leave this one where it is. So, to sum up, I love reviews and I try to learn as much as I can from them, whether I'm writing the story or finished with it. Thanks so much!! :-)

Happy reading!
