Author has written 5 stories for Star Wars, Halo, and Hunger Games.

Hello reader, this is theotherpianist. Thanks for dropping by my profile!

I am now established in the FanFiction realm as an author with two stories under construction (one of which is currently exceeding all my wildest expectations). Please remember to review my work so I may improve it. Reviews are the only way a writer gets better (besides writing itself).

Please all make sure to stop by here every so often. I sometimes drop hints on what's to come on here.

Personal Notes:

I don't curse. Period. This will translate to all my stories. In the event that I feel something must be said I will use *'s.

Please respect my opinion on the use of language and I will respect yours. That said being said, there are some characters who need a certain amount of grit to them to portray them somewhat realistically. Please refer to the above statement. I trust you as a reader can fill in the blanks. Chances are you will be right.

PROJECTS: (Updated: 9/16/16)

Trilogy: Hunger Games

Crossover Trilogy: Halo x Star Wars

One-shot series: Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows

Dictionary Of Obscure Sorrows Oneshots:

These are intended as literary tests for myself with prompts taken from a list of words known by the internet as the 'Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows'. (please see introduction in Kenopsia) 21 exercises are planned which may or may not relate to any current projects.

Hunger Games Trilogy:

Foreword originally posted at the beginning of the first chapter:

Three years ago I was sitting with some friends at dinner when the question of "Your favorite fictional character came up." I had never devoted any time to thinking about it, there are a multitude I love for different reasons. Ultimately though, in that instant I blurted out "Foxface from the Hunger Games!". I had no idea why I said what I did at that time, but as I thought about it more, the more I've come to realize that this character, who we only get maybe thirty seconds of paper/screen time of in total was indeed one of my favorites. I've always interpreted her strategy and her death as signs of a commitment to a higher standard of morality in the arena which is huge for a fictional era of human history where the populace has reverted back to the Roman Empire standards on things such as entertainment, power, and the like. I should note that there are many equally valid explanations out there, I do not claim this to be the most correct. I would encourage you to look for the one that you think explains her best.

Whether my interpretation is valid or not, I've always found it impressive that someone was able to come so close to victory by virtue of sheer intelligence and wit. I was disappointed with her death and initially harbored angry feelings at Suzanne Collins for creating such a mysterious character, only to have her die. But, as I've come to re-read the Hunger Games again and again, I've begun to see this as more of an intentional act on her part. Why do we as readers care about Cato, Katniss, Thresh, Rue, or Peeta? I would posit that it's because we get to know their characters in some shape or fashion. Regardless of brevity, it's easy to feel and sympathize for the tributes for which Collins or the Film labored to flesh out just a little bit. But what about the other tributes who we know little to nothing about, who in their own way probably had stories equally as rich as Katniss' narrative? There are many implications to this question, but this foreword isn't the place to discuss them.

I believe Foxface, regardless of her placing in the Games, has unfortunately fallen into the later category of forgotten tributes, the mystery of her character lending itself to the fantasies of imagination yes, but largely forgotten. However, there is something about this mysterious red-haired girl from Five that has attracted some attention in the FanFiction world whether it was her slyness, her strategy, or the theories surrounding her death. There are less than 600 fictions on this site that explicitly are centered in some form around her, some better than others, that seek to answer in part the many questions surrounding this character. Two years ago I attempted to start this project entitled 'Discovery: Or a Foxes Tale', but it was badly written and I decided I needed to take more time to gather my thoughts and feelings before I actually begin the project for real.

The goal for this fiction for me is not to convince anyone that I'm right, but to add a much needed longer 'what-if' story to the ranks of fictions greater than 5,000 words. The events that will be depicted are mostly extrapolations, posits, and hypothetical assumptions that I've taken a lot of time to consider in regards to the actual canon of the story itself. My 'research' has had me scrounging behind-the scenes-interviews, unofficial guides to the world of Panem, deleted scenes, and multiple viewings/readings of the Hunger Games movies and books. It is my hope that, armed with these tools, I can create a story that can answer the question of who and what was Foxface? Perhaps one day Suzanne Collins will answer some of these questions herself, but, until such a time comes, please take the story with a grain of salt.

Yours in writing,
theotherpianist

Book One: Unlikeliest of Victors: A Fox's Tale

Full Summary:

Foxface always knew first-hand the innumerable sins of The Capitol. A knowledge that, when combined with conspiracies at home and abroad, throw her life into jeopardy. She knows that her reaping for the 74th Hunger Games was not one of chance or circumstance, because someone, somewhere, wants her dead.

Worst of all, with potential enemies lurking in the shadows, winning the games suddenly isn't a viable option.

To survive, Katherine Emerson will have to beat the games themselves; an act of rebellion that carries with it the spark of revolution.

Book Two: ???

Book Three: ???

Book One: Rise of the Empire

Summary:

After the end of the Great War the Human race thought it was done with war.

They were wrong.

When a mission to find two UNSC distress signals is launched, the UNSC suddenly becomes entangled in a war they never wanted to fight, be in, or witness: the dramatic power play that was the Clone Wars.

Spanning across an entire galaxy, faces will be hardened, brothers in arms lost, heroes will rise, heroes will fall, and an Empire will rise from the Shadows. Many will accept, many will reject, but for one Spartan, his legacy and story will begin in a galaxy far, far away.

Character Bios: (Updated 11/27/15)

Dossier compiled by Dr. Heinrich Mohns & Dr. Abraham Erskein // Section Three, Special Warfare Psychiatric Analysts.

Spartan William Gunther:

Other Aliases B-317, Castle One/Lead, "Will"

Born 2526, URNA, Earth

Hair Mid-dark brown, parted down left side of his head.

Eyes Brown

Complexion: Fair

Height 6'10" (Unarmored) 7'0 (Armored)

Weight (Unarmored) 280 lbs.

Specialty Team Leader, Pilot, Exo-atmospheric naval command/warfare

Rank Formerly Commander (Rank reinstated after OPERATION: UNIFY on the Planet Cryptum)

Armor MJOLNIR Generation II // Navy Blue with lighter blue accents // Intruder Class Armor w/Midnight class VISR system

Subject was born on October 30th on Earth in the year 2526. After the Covenant attacked a planet he was visiting for a trip he was separated from his parent's and family and was subsequently accidentally inducted with his friend Asher into Spartan III company Beta. He had difficulty interacting with the other trainees due to his age and lateness in entering the program but found refuge within a group of 20 Spartans that would later become his future team. He was pulled out with 20 others prior to OPERATION: TORPEDO for a separate mission that succeeded and later formed Special Warfare Team Castle (not Fireteam Castle on Infinity). He became involved in many conflicts in the Human/Covenant War.

In June of 2552 he was assigned with Castle Team to attack a major covenant military staging point and refinery on the planet of Tylos. *REDACTED*

He was approached in February of 2553 after the end of the Great War by Vice Admiral Dean Tchakova to become a student recognizing subject's ability to effectively come up with strategy and lead. He learned from him the basics and then later advanced concepts of operating Naval ships and fleets even though he was only a Lieutenant. The two of them drafted and later commissioned the UNSC Dauntless. Castle team was later separated in the War of Reclamation. It is this scientist's opinion that his care for his teammates could prove to be a potential hindrance to Section III should we attempt to recall him in for further action.

Subject was demoted over from his rank as Commander over an incident with Captain Del Rio in the middle of a pitched battle with the Storm.

Subject was approached at some point on one occasion to become a member of the Strike Blades led by a former member of our own (Agent Kellog has yet to confirm that with our sources) but refused on grounds of what he perceived as "honest" work. He still seems to carry a great respect for them.

He met Ripa 'Talam on the Colony of Mamore after local terrorist cells took the Sangheili ambassador and several dozen civilians hostage. Only after working together as a team where they able to succeed. As a result he became a part of the 'Talam family and Ripa's "blood brother". ONI is still unsure of the significance of this but it appears he is considered quite literally as one of their own.

He is currently assigned to UNSC Infinity as the head of the newly reinstated Fireteam Castle. Psych evaluations will be updated at a future time.

Spartan Asher "Ash" *REDACTED* :

Born 2526, Colorado, URNA.

Other Aliases B-312, Castle Two, Noble Six (Formerly)

Hair Light brown (some auburn streaks). Mostly straight, some curls.

Eyes Green (some blue)

Complexion Fair

Height 6'7" (unarmored) 6'9" (Armored)

Weight (Unarmored) 240 lbs.

Specialty: Secondary Team Leader, Pilot, Sniper, Hyper Lethal Vector

Rank: Lieutenant Commander (Fireteam Castle) Lieutenant (Noble Team)

Notable Physical Features Small scars across hairline & chest from bullet wounds, gouge on abdomen from Type-1 Energy Sword.

Armor: MJOLNIR Generation II // Steel Blue with darker accents // DECIMATOR* Class Armor w/Clockwork class VISR system

Other Comments: Subject has repeatedly stated several times that she has a hatred of her talent to kill. She desires more than anything to find peace and establish contact with her family. This may pose a problem should we seek to utilize her again in roles similar to her involvement in NOBLE Team or operations prior too.

*Subject is one of the few Spartans currently cleared to use this armor. I'm told this will be it's first official test run in the field.

Subject was born on *REDACTED* on Earth in the year 2526. After the Covenant attacked a planet she was visiting for a trip, she was separated from her parent's and family and was subsequently "accidentally" inducted with *REDACTED* into Spartan III company Beta. Subject was pulled out with many others prior to OPERATION: TORPEDO and was assigned to Colonel Ackerson as his own "Private Grim Reaper" a title she was reported to loath.

*REDACTED*

Subject gained a reputation as an efficient lone-wolf assassin under her assignment to Ackerson having "single-handedly broken terrorist organizations and made entire rebel groups disappear". She grew an intense resentment of Colonel Ackerson, his methods, and his treatment of her as a killing machine more than human and subsequently developed deep depression. Subejct was also selected as a test pilot for the top secret SABRE Program.

Subject was assigned to Mamore to rid the planet of its terror network. She became a member of Special Warfare Team Castle briefly when a mission left her stranded and several other Spartans stranded and isolated on the planet. *REDACTED*

While awaiting rescue she was responsible for the disappearance of dozens of Insurrectionist cells* solidifying her reputation as a lone wolf. // *The woman has a track record that easily rivals any of the II's.

In the aftermath of the Operation on Mamore subject was approached by Colonel Urban Holland and was assigned to Noble Team. An assignment which she resented him for.

Subject was present for the Fall of Reach and was instrumental in buying UNSC forces valuable time and saving many lives. Asher was assigned by Dr. Halsey and Cortana to be a courier for a fragment of the AI containing information which led to the discovery of Installation 04. After saving the Pillar of Autumn, Asher attempted to make her way to the last UNSC refuge in the shadow of a nearby mountain. She was stopped at a nearby industrial complex and surrounded by Elites. She was severely wounded but rescued by Castle Team who were fleeing for extraction as well. She was placed in emergency trauma surgery aboard a Sahara Class Heavy Prowler and escaped.

Subject was in recovery for several weeks battling depression (again) as well as physical wounds. She beat both and was assigned to Castle Team on a mission that would wipeout a major covenant military staging point and refinery on the planet of Tylos. *REDACTED*

Subject was present for the Battles of Baltimore, New Haven, and New Houston *REDACTED* Rumors report that there was a close call with them running into their respective families. We are unsure of what contact with them would do but current protocol dictates that for the moment they must remain anonymous.

After additional recovery subject was assigned with Castle Three, Five, Six, Seven, and Eight to the UNSC Svalbard for a support mission to the planet Kaloptis II. The Svalbard's slipspace drive malfunctioned teleporting them to the Forerunner Planet Cryptum where they crashed inside the mountain.

Subject was reported to be rescued with five other members of CASTLE Team after several years and is currently assigned to the UNSC Infinity as a member of Fireteam Castle.

Spartan Hansu Liang (Li) Chen:

Born Chorus, date unknown due to bad recordkeeping. Most likely after 2529

Other Aliases Castle Three, B-291

Hair Black, straight, closely cropped.

Eyes Black

Complexion pale from excessive time in armor

Height 6'1" (Unarmored) 6'3" (Armored)

Weight (Unarmored) 223 lbs.

Specialty Scout, Sniper, Battlefield intelligence

Rank Warrant Officer Grade II

Armor: MJOLNIR Generation II // Olive green, Mottled Brown accents // Deadeye Class Armor w/Gallows class VISR system

Hansu was born on the planet Chorus sometime after 2529. He moved to Mars shortly after a passenger ship that was carrying his parents was destroyed by Insurrectionists. He was picked up by his Uncle who happened to be an ONI spook. His uncle personally recommended him for the program and Hansu was trained as part of Beta Company. He was noted by superiors to have a very cynical personality around authority but remained social and amicable with everyone else. He lacks some of the daring of the other Spartans which prevents his qualification for the Headhunters.

His observation and eagle eye set him above most of his compatriots and was sufficient cause for pulling him out of the Program before Operation TORPEDO. He was assigned to Special Warfare Team Castle and butted heads initially with William a lot.

Castle Team participated in numerous operations in the Human-Covenant War, most notably Reach, Tribute, Tylos IV, and the defense of Earth. He disappeared with the other members of his team in 2553 aboard the UNSC Svalbard which crashed in the Andromeda Galaxy on the Forerunner Planet Cryptum. He was rescued later by Castle One and Four and currently is assigned to the UNSC Infinity as part of Fireteam Castle.

Spartan Chelsea Baker

Born: Corona, 2535

Other Aliases Castle Four, B-398

Hair Blonde

Eyes Brown

Complexion Pale

Height 6'4" (Unarmored) 6'6" (Armored)

Weight (Unarmored) 236 lbs.

Specialty Close Quarters Combat, Low scale demolitions, EVA maneuvers and combat, MOUT specialist.

Rank Warrant Officer Grade II

Armor MJOLNIR Generation II // Celeste Blue // EVA Class Armor w/Burgundian class VISR system

Not much is known about her childhood (despite all our best attempts at investigating) other than the fact she was recruited into the Spartan III program at the age of 12 making her one of the youngest member of Special Warfare Team Castle. Subject has rejected multiple attempts to talk about her childhood. She was picked up by recruiters on the planet Corona when the Covenant attacked without warning. She ran into William and Asher and became friends.

Her tenacity and speed and completing objectives was considered to be worthy grounds for pulling her out of Beta Company before Operation TORPEDO. She was assigned to Special Warfare Team Castle and helped ease tensions notably between some of the members.

Castle Team participated in numerous operations in the Human-Covenant War, most notably Reach, Tribute, Tylos IV, and the defense of Earth including the Battles of Baltimore, Boston, and New Houston. She was the only member of Castle besides William who was healing when the UNSC Svalbard disappeared carrying all of her teammates. She was present for first contact with the Confederacy of Independent Systems and briefly engaged General Grievous (confirmed by after action reports) before rescuing William and the others trapped on the surface of Rhen Var.

She participated in the rescue of the Spirit of Fire and recovery of her teammates aboard the Svalbard.

Subject is currently deployed to the UNSC Infinity as a member of Fireteam Castle.

Spartan Elizabeth Lucy Anderson

Born Hunter IV, 2533

Other Aliases Castle Five B-285

Hair Black, straight,

Eyes Deep Brown

Complexion Pale

Height 6'5" (Unarmored) 6'7" (Armored)

Weight (Unarmored) 210 lbs.

Specialty Intelligence, Electronic Warfare, Reconnaissance

Weapons DMR, Assault Rifle. Pretty handy with Railgun (although she doesn't carry it on her often) // Subject has innate sense of knowing how to cause the most damage with Railguns. Candidate for Bjornhauft Project?

Rank Lieutenant

Armor MJOLNIR Generation II // Steel with Celeste Blue Accents // Enforcer Class Helmet, CIO Base w/Matrix class VISR system

Elizabeth lived a hard poor life as a farmer's daughter and was the sole survivor of an attack on her village on Outer Colony Hunter IV, mainly a watchpost colony for other planets of interest. It had a ONI research base and so therefore she was picked up directly by ONI and shipped out.

She had a hard time adjusting to life as a recruit for the Spartan III program. Despite having such a hard life she felt right at home with the members of Castle. She is the source of "cheer and positivity" (even when things are bad), deeply religious, and believes that the Covenant were just another test from Deity.

She was deeply affected by death of her teammates though on Reach, Castle team lost many members. While she may be positive she has some deep lasting guilt over not being able to prevents many of her team's death and struggles with some self-worth.

Her loyalty to her team and patience coupled with a diplomatic ability to calm others down during high pressure situations is invaluable to Will and the others.

Subject has expressed her secret pleasure is to be able to sing. While only certain members of the team (namely Castle Leader, Two, and Eight) know about, she's embarrassed by it and doesn't show off. She seeks to become a classically trained singer when the war is over. Look into post war transition programs?

Spartan Ralph Stonewall

Born Magellan (Date unknown due to bad record keeping)

Other Aliases: Castle Six, B-177

Hair Brown, wild and unkempt.

Eyes Green

Complexion: Slightly ruddy.

Height 7'5"

Weight 378 lbs (unarmored) ~ 500 lbs (armored)

Specialty EOD, Large scale demolitions, anti-air/anti-vehicle specialist, "Distractions"

Weapons Subject prefers anything that will make a lot of noise. //This poses problems when forced to undergo sensitive ops.

Rank Warrant Officer

Armor MJOLNIR Generation II // Bronze with Orange Accents // Security Class Armor, Indomitable Helmet w/Daybreak class VISR system

Subject was born on Magellan at some point before 2534. Orphaned and raised by several foster families, ONI Agents made contact with him when he was ~five years age. Subject figured out how to make explosives at a young age and would break into stores to steal money and food for himself. An investigation and subsequent meeting put him on the Candidacy list. Subject was transferred to Onyx to Beta company where he developed these skills into a self-professed "artform."

Subject was pulled out of Beta Company into Special Warfare Team Castle and served under B-317 in many operations that bought time for millions of lives. Analysis indicate that despite his aggressive tendencies and his explosive nature, Subject values human life to a surprising degree.

Subject disappeared with the other members of his team in 2553 aboard the UNSC Svalbard which crashed in the Andromeda Galaxy on the Forerunner Planet Cryptum. Subject was rescued later by Castle One and Four and currently is assigned to the UNSC Infinity as part of Fireteam Castle.

Spartan Lucius Baumgartner

Born Meridian, 2531

Hair Shaved, (curly brown when not)

Eyes dark green

Complexion Pale

Height 6'6" (6' 7-1/2") armored

Complexion Fair

Height 6'6"

Specialty Medic, "Agility assisted fatalities".

Weapons Subject prefers longer range weaponry but demonstrates the lethal proficiency with all weapons we would expect from a Spartan III.

Rank Lieutenant

Armor MJOLNIR Generation II // Olive with Red and Gold Accents // Argonaut Class Armor, Mark V (upgraded to Gen II suite) w/Autumn class VISR system

Finch finds out that Marvel likes her, but the should-be gleeful revelation is dampened by her own insecurities. Includes an encounter with a wild dog, Marvel and Cato being bromantic (at least, their own brand of it), and Marvel being a precious cinnamon roll. Another AU of The Sweetest Mockery. Oneshot written for justsurvivesomehow.
