Author has written 7 stories for Underland Chronicles. Writing final instalment of Underland Chronicles II Trilogy at the moment. Please review my stories. Introduction: I started writing about 2 years back ever since I finished reading the Underland Chronicles. it was a bittersweet ending and I looked for closure in the immediate aftermath. I found this website and the first ten chapters of my story was quickly written so that I could get over it. It wasn't really meant to last- it was just a dream to create the trilogy after all. I was getting close to zero reviews and was in the middle of a downward spiral. Somehow I was able to pick myself up and start writing again. But I didn't write for closure anymore- I wrote because I enjoyed it. And I also enjoyed trying to create a universe which people can appreciate and fall in love with too. Have I succeeded? I don't know. But if you do want to let me know how I've done, please feel free to PM me or review my stories. I've spent the last one year developing a trilogy and I hope that I can get some honest reactions to it. I wouldn't consider myself a phenomenal and great writer, but I will say that I am not a horrendous writer. And if you feel I am, do let me know so I can improve! On another note, my original plan was to create a MASSIVE shared universe, with numerous fandoms being pulled into one single universe which was established by me. But that plan fell through because I've realised just how much work it takes. It would kill me completely if I attempted it, so for those who were hoping to see it I must apologize. That being said, the plans for this trilogy to be complete also fell through, but look where I am now! Very much back on track and ready to complete the trilogy. Check out my answers to some of your questions below! Questions: Q1. Who was your favourite character from the books? Ripred, for sure. I kinda feel that he’s the only character from the original series who was truly developed well and was the most three-dimensional. It’s hard to sculpt a character as complex as him, and I must say his personality is somehow very appealing to me. Who doesn’t like a sarcastic son of a bitch? Also, he’s just downright cool. There’s just something so nonchalant about him whenever he fights, and yet he fights with such finesse and beauty. It’s hard not to like the old rat. And that’s why I always try to do him justice when writing scenes with his character. I mean, sometimes they’re not always ideal, but generally I do put in extra effort to craft a Ripred which is faithful to the originals. He’s the one character I take very little liberties with. Q2. Do you have to have an app to write? Nope, I upload it straight from Microsoft Word. Before that, I usually write my chapters on google docs, because I’ve become really familiar with that setting. I make my final edit when it’s up on my doc manager, since I have a grammar/spelling checker. That said, I do screw up sometimes and upload chapters which haven’t been edited out, which means that you’ll find some mistakes here and there. Q3. Will you write anything after this story? Um… That’s a hard question to answer. At first, I was planning to construct this massive crossover between different fandoms, and then I decided to focus solely on TUC fanfiction so that I take things step by step. I HAVE planned out two possible sequels to Fall of Ragers, but I don’t want to disclose any details because they would serve as spoilers to my current story. But now, I don’t think I’m writing those sequels anymore, unless someone is willing to take up the mantle and write them with some supervision from me, of course. The problem is that the plot diverges really far from the original story until it’s become almost a complete new world- one which I envisioned through the current Underland Chronicles II series. Also, there’d be too many new characters and I don’t think many people would be interested in it. Q4. Is Hazard dead or alive? He’s very much alive, but not a main character in Fall of Ragers yet. But if all goes according to plan, he will start becoming an important character towards the end of the story. I’m not saying anything else :) Q5. Do we get to learn more about Snake’s past? Excellent question, actually. There might be a couple of remarks here and there throughout this story which hints at what he used to do, but it won’t be strung together as a narrative. Snake is supposed to be this morally ambiguous figure, someone nobody can really relate to. A more mysterious background adds to that ambiguity, which is why I’m hesitant to delve into his history. Q6. Where are the rest of the schemers, especially Flavius? Ah, you’ll have to wait and see! But yes, I’m aware that their appearances in my story so far are minimal, to say the least. I wanted to focus more on Operation Claw and the internal conflict in Regalia, since we’re quite well-versed with schemer ways due to their constant appearances in The Warrior’s Legacy and Regalian Bloodbath. As for Flavius… He’s the big bad guy in this story, along with Snake. In the coming chapters, other characters will talk about Flavius a bit but he doesn’t make an appearance till… quite soon, actually. You’ll just have to wait and see :) Flavius is the most diabolical bastard in this story, even when compared to the likes of Gorger, so his appearances have to be impactful and sporadic rather than being in a majority of chapters. He’s more like an evil constantly lurking about. Q7. Is Calvin a rager? A lot of people have noted how Calvin seems to be on the cusp of being a rager but isn’t quite there yet. I suppose the answer is no- he’s not a rager. BUT it’s up to speculation. If you do believe that Snake is indeed his father, then it’s not unfathomable that Calvin has a little bit of rager blood in him. Is there a “rager gene” which can be inherited? Who knows. It’s up to your interpretation, and that’s the beauty of having a world where so many little details can be expounded on. Q8. What fight scenes do you think is/are the best in your trilogy? I’d argue that Ripred vs Gregor is the best, but not necessarily my favourite. I spent hours and effort chiselling that chapter to make sure it was as close to perfection as it got. I mean, it’s one of the few chapters that has an overwhelmingly positive response, so I do suppose a lot of people share my sentiments. I had a hell of a time writing that chapter. But my favourite has to be writing large scale battle scenes between armies, like the Battle of Regalia and the battle between Regalia and the spiders, cockroaches and moles. There’s just this sense of a chaotic spectacle which really appeals to me, and I actually watched a number of such battle scenes to prepare for his writing. Lord of the Rings excels at this, for anyone who is interested. Gregor vs Conrad was my first try at handling an intense one-on-one fight, and it was honestly pretty enjoyable to write, although I preferred Gregor vs Ripred. I do think that a couple of fight scenes in the Warrior’s Legacy are underrated, such as the battle at the rapids and the final battle in the atrium, but they are nowhere close to the likes of the battle mentioned above. I did enjoy writing them, though. Q9. What movie that is coming out in the next few years are you most excited for? Damn… This is such a difficult question to answer. There are just so many… I do love Star Wars, and I consider myself a pretty big comic book movie fan as well. Then there are movies like The Dark Tower and Dead Men Tell No Tales that look pretty dope too. I do enjoy a good arthouse film and I appreciate the cinematography, storytelling and imagery that goes into them, but what I’m really hyped for is Justice League. I know the DCEU isn’t doing great at the moment, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hyped for Justice League. That was my childhood- growing up and watching the animated series made me a HUGE fan. I’m also looking forward to the Ben Affleck solo Batman movie coming out in 2018/2019. I’m a big fan of Affleck’s Batman in particular, and given his capabilities as a director, I’m really looking forward to it. Regardless of your personal thoughts on the man’s private life, I do think that a good majority loved his performance as Batman. Of course, a shout-out to Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 as well as Spiderman: Homecoming. Can’t wait for those movies too. Q10. When did you start this fanfiction? Well, I started Fall of Ragers in February this year. It’s the longest project I’ve ever embarked on, so I expect it only to end next year at the rate I’m going. In terms of fanfiction as a whole, I started in November 2014 with a small prequel to my current series. I also started writing book 1 during this period. Q11. From now on will you update every two weeks or monthly? Um, I suppose I’ll update every week if I can help it. If not… probably a two week wait then. Q12. Have you had the thought of killing off Ripred at some point in the story and if you haven't, do you intend for him to live through this chaos or die fighting? I do think we’re deep in spoiler territory here haha, I’m not sure I can answer this question directly. But yes, I HAVE considered killing Ripred off in this story. Whether he dies or not… Just keep reading on. :) But seriously, if I were to kill Ripred off, I want it to be a fitting death for a character like him. It’s the least someone like him deserves. Q13. Is Gregor's family alive or did Snake kill them during the time took to arrive in the Underland? Again, I do believe we’ve waded into spoiler territory. The answer to that should come round soon, even if most readers should be able to predict the right answer to this question. Q14. When is the next time we will see the schemers? This question is really similar to another one above, but I’ll answer it anyway. The schemers will probably appear somewhere around chapters 27/28, maybe 29. That means pretty soon, by the way. Q15. What does Snake plan to do with Calvin and is Calvin really his son? Yet again this question is similar to another one above. Basically, whether Calvin is really his son or not will remain ambiguous. Chapter 24 establishes that by showing how it really doesn’t matter- to Calvin, his one true father is Richard because Richard was the one who brought him up. As for what Snake plans to do with Calvin… he’s trying to torture Calvin for information on Regalia to launch a strategic attack. That’s all I have to say. Q16. How do you keep so many details in your stories, some of them expanding over three books, and not have any major flaws or continuity errors? I personally think it takes a lot of dedication to this universe that you have chosen to expand on. JRR Tolkien and George RR Martin are authors I admire very much, because they put in so much effort to work out the details in their respective universes. World-building is so important to creating the feel of a story, so I make sure of that by consistently checking back with my previous stories. Occasionally, I read the whole thing and check even the small details I added in so that there aren't any inconsistencies. It's tremendously difficult, I assure you, but it is possible to really have a consistent universe where everything seems to fall into place. There are little things I mention in previous stories where I make a mental note to expand upon in later stories. I guess my point is that you have to bereally committed. |
