![]() Author has written 4 stories for Vocaloid. Hi guys! I'm KawaiiAzumarill but please just call me Kawaii. It's not my real name but call me that anyways :) I'm an amateur writer and a horrible drawer. My motto is to enjoy the things I can. Food, friends, or just life! Also, Miki Sayaka is my spirit animal/Magical Girl. I'm so similar to her, as well as Mami :3 but anyways... If you have any questions, don't be shy. I'll occasionally accept requests at any point in time. However, please do not be offended if I decline. Factors of rejection may include the following; characters/fandoms I am unfamiliar with, to which I can tell you if I ask, overly sexual themes (I may be able to do a lime. But it's not likely). Please do note that I may not be feeling up to it, so I may decline, or accept and wait until I can. Or, if you're rude and pushy. Eh, I guess I should put some stuff about me here. I won't be revealing my name, though. I may hint my age sometimes, but you'll have to keep your eyes peeled to notice. My (nick)name is Kawaii. Seriously, no Japanese parent would ever name their child that, or any parent for that matter. But, I guess you can also call me by my alias/virtual persona, Akiyama Kazumi. Or Megatron Destroyer. That works too. My favorite color is blue, like the color of the skies on a clear day. If it has to rain, I like the light drizzles that makes the air smell fresh. When it's like that, I like to help myself to chocolate milk/hot chocolate, depending on the temperature. (Uh, I'm getting weird. I don't think you guys need to know that...) I love Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, with my favorite characters being Sayaka, Mami, and Kyoko. I ship Kyosaya. Madoka is cute too, and I want to give Homura a hug. I don't see Kyubey as evil, just manipulative. Probably my favorite anime. It's dark and edgy, without too much blood. The character development isn't as great as Pokéspe, but oh well... Also, Vocaloid :3 Recap: OTPs: Frantic, Rin/Len, Kyousaya, And, that's about it. Please do remember that NOTHING is mine! I only use the characters that I do! I do not own them. Everything belongs to their respective companies/franchises. Umm, I know I haven't been posting at all lately, and that's due to school. Ugh. Don't get me wrong, I genuinely like school (don't give me that look) but it's getting tougher. I'm putting all my excess energy into extra studying instead of transferring it into creativity. So, I suppose I should go on HIATUS. I'm so, so sorry, but it's hard, managing these stories constantly. Happy Birthday to my sweet precious baby Oliver! (And belated for Piko ._. I'm so sorry)(And early for my Kagamines~) Recently, I've been targeted for liking Vocaloids and how people in general can't wrap their heads around people going to concerts where fake people are the central driving point of the performance. So I've made a rant-ish thing for your enjoyment, enlightenment, boost to your own opinions, and whatever. (I tried to consider things from both sides, like a high school essay). (Some objections to Vocaloids were taken from the Kids/Elders React to Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid) (Though, before I start, this is not anger born. Rather, I'm feeling a bit sad as I write this, because I feel like I'm being singled out for liking something that isn't the norm, even though it's liked elsewhere. Just when I feel like I'm included, I'm excluded for liking Vocaloid. It's tiring when people keep challenging me, and having to defend myself, and it takes energy, but when I don't defend myself, I'm judged for believing in things so easily and without commitment. Yet, all the same, I'm judged. I suppose I just have to live with it.) Why I Personally Like Vocaloid -Flexibility in Voice: ...Though, it varies between voice banks. My favorite example of flexibility is the comparison between Kagamine Len's solo Monochrome Dream Eater, his duet with Rin in Karakuri Burst, duet with Kaito in Snowman, power duet with Rin in Childish War, his solo in SPICE! All of the songs feature his central voice, tuned to fit the music. -Endless Creativity: It's linked to flexibility, but Vocaloids in the hands of the many producers out there, can make many songs with wildly different tones and themes. -Lyrical Content: Okay, I admit, I don't like a few songs for having extremely cheesy lyrics (looking at you, Just Be Friends). You can have a heartwarming (read: heart wrenching) song of a friendship lonely magician and his eternally happy counterpart, a clash between Chaos and Order (with killing and destruction on both sides), a dream stealer taking away a girl's dreams and aspirations, aristocratic and bratty children fighting for the throne... If you look at some human artists, all their songs all have the same central theme. -You Can Be Your Own Vocaloid (UTAU): You can create your own voice bank and become like your favorite singers. Or use your program to create your own song. Fans can actually contribute to their music group, and be considered as part of it. When can you send in song lyrics to your favorite artist and have them be performed? Or even become the singer? -They're Flexible, But They Won't Change: Their voices won't mature with age (unless the voice provider ages), they won't get sick and congested with phlegm, they won't die, and they'll only get better with updates to technologies. Counter-Arguments to My Reasons 1. Humans have flexibility too, and more so than a set computer program. 'Trap,' rap, vibrato, and other singing styles sound more authentic in human voices. Even if a Vocaloid can recreate the sounds, it would sound unnatural in comparison. 2. Songs made by real artists vary greatly from singer to singer. With the flexibility listed above, a singer has more potential than a Vocaloid's computer program. A Vocaloid's computer program is limited to its software. 3. If fans had the ability to control their favorite singers/artists/bands, it would be utter chaos. Those untrained in music could send in garbage. Crazier fans would send in, well, crazy things. The singers would be abused. 4. If Vocaloids don't change, they're just static and have no diversity. A real singer can grow and develop their voice and improve. Computers don't improve. Why people DON'T like Vocaloid 1. Don't get to meet them/hug them 2. power outage (live concert) 3. taking a spot that can be filled by a human 4. BUT SHE'S [Hatsune Miku] NOT EVEN REAL 5. she seems like a pokeymon (according to this one kid in Kids React) 6. they don't sound real (computerized) 7. weird Japan bodies (anime face, plastic noodle hair, rubbery skin, too sleek and unnatural CGI animation) My Responses and Counter-Arguments to the Reasons Why People Don't Like Vocaloid (What a mouthful) 1. I honestly have no response or counter argument for this. It does kind of suck that you can't physically touch and meet your favorite Vocaloid. One point for real singers. 2. Power outages affect ALL concerts, don't you think? It's bad if the Vocaloid's projection system (NOT a hologram) goes out and the character winks out, but then again, nothing else works. Same with a concert that has flesh and blood singers. The lights will turn off, you can't see them, and no music will play. 3. I don't understand why this is so detrimental to a Vocaloid's popularity. I really don't understand the point? I'm confused. Many things are being done electronically, like in factories, manned by humans. Vocaloids replace singers and are tuned by humans. What's the difference? 4. Yes, they're not real, but I find that just to be a fact. A trait; a characteristic that makes Vocaloids unique. Why are artificial things considered to be a lower standard than real things? What describes real? For singers, it means flesh and blood and not a program. For jewelry, it means made in the ground and not in a laboratory. For intelligence, it means learned with a brain, not with a database. There are differences, with pros and cons to each. But is one side reallybetter than the other? 5. Pokémon (pronounced poh-kay-mon) is awesome. What's so wrong with that? You got something against Pokémon? (Okay, okay, I'm joking, that wasn't criticism). 6. Just because a Vocaloid's singing is created by a computer program doesn't mean it isn't real. Why is real speaking and singing confined to air being forced through vocal cords? 7. Okay, I admit, the Vocaloids can be super unnerving in terms of appearance in animation. I suppose I have to be a hypocrite and bend my own rule of computer generated vs. real in the fact that a flesh and blood body is biotic and CGI is abiotic at a scientific level. But I can't help but like them a bit better than...actual human bodies...because they seem more appealing to me... U-Um so— A-And that Vocaloids can't break a leg by rehearsing a dance routine over and over. Counter-Arguments to...My Own Arguments 1. There's nothing like seeing your favorite artist shut down in the middle of a concert. 3. Robots can't be praised for talent. That praise should go to the creators, the people that make the computer programs that make the Vocaloid's voice. Real artists work to tune themselves and sound good, but Vocaloids are just manufactured. A person that wants to sing would practice and improve themselves to become talented (hard work) and Vocaloids are built. 4. The very words 'fake music' cannot describe something good. 6. Computer generated voices are literally artificial voices, which is the opposite of real voices. 7. There's nothing to love in a flat, inanimate character that can do nothing unless it's manipulated by REAL people. Things I've Noticed About Real Artists PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T BE OFFENDED. I BEG OF THEE. Okay, I'm not bashing on anyone in particular, and I'm actually in the wrong a bit myself—I'm stereotyping talented artists and songwriters and producers and the like. It's just upsetting when people say all Vocaloids are the same, and listen to an artist that produces songs of only one topic or otherwise similar themes. Well, now... Hold your breath. Release it when you find a song on popular radio stations with the following content. Taking the love of your life on a wild ride/How your crush completely changed your life The love of your life dumping you and your subsequent jealousy Making money, drugs, drinking Flattering your crush DJs, clubs, wild parties Da hood Playboy/Playgirl/new SO each week Lovemaking, booties, racks, sausages Excessive swearing If beaches or famous cities are mentioned (London, Paris, New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seoul, Tokyo, Miami, Bahamas/vacation islands/again beaches) I would say that this is open to the opinions of anyone who reads, but honestly, I don't want to deal with Internet conversations. Even civil, polite ones. Call me narrow minded, call me lazy and call me opinionated all you want, but I get all of that anyways in real life. I don't need it on my electronic screen. You have every right to agree, disagree, or do whatever. I just ask that you add this to your store of knowledge and carry on. Or, you can ignore this and carry on. Just please, don't raise a --storm over this. I love Vocaloid and I don't want it to be ruined by bashing and hate, or otherwise associated with lasting negative feelings. I wish people can smile and get along and let others be happy with their passions, knowing they'd be happy and accepted for theirs. Music is a universal language that can bring happiness and sorrow to everyone. Let's not have it bring anger, or be tarnished by it. |
