They've lived an (almost) normal family life for ten years. But after William's not-quite-normal nature is revealed in an accident, Mulder and Scully fear their son will again become the target of ruthless and ambitious men who lust after the powerful potential of telepathic ability.

Several months after William is born and Mulder goes into hiding, an anonymous caller leads Scully to search for him in Idaho. Bringing William and Skinner, Scully finds her partner injured and in a comatose state, with no clues to what happened. When Mulder wakes several days later, he barely knows who she is...and has no memory of the X Files.

"Don't give him up, Scully," he begs, fingers tight on the back of her neck; their first contact in months. Foreheads meet in a shared lean against one another for support, and she blinks away her tears, wiping at his with a gentle thumb on his cheek. William coos sleepily between them. "We will keep him safe," Mulder murmurs, lips just above her ear. "I don't care what it takes."

Scully wakes up handcuffed in the backseat of a car, missing her memories. As he races to help her, Mulder discovers that they've been dragged into a conspiracy that goes farther than he first thought. The agents must decide whether to dig deeper to expose a company's crimes, or to willingly partake in the deception themselves, a move which could save both their lives.

Both agents' thoughts during the final scene of Orison. Afterward, Scully struggles with her fears and Mulder dwells on almost having lost her. Together they recover from the ordeal, unavoidably evolving their partnership emotionally and physically.

Post-Kitsunegari. Mulder struggles to come to terms with their encounter with Linda Bowman and almost having killed Scully. Oneshot with the slight timeline change that their report to Skinner happens that same night. Scully keeps him company and tries to alleviate his guilt.
