This is just the boring personal-introduction bit. More interesting stuff further down. Hello. I'm a student at a university in Germany, and I obviously have too much spare time, else you wouldn't be reading this. I love reading, especially in English, since I think that it's a beautiful language, with so much variety in both written and spoken form. Lately I have also discovered my passion for writing stuff myself, although the matching skill for said writing still remains to be found. But I like to think that it gets better with every story i write down. Practice makes perfect, right? I am a big fan of character-driven narratives, as in the characers and their personalities 'make' the story. It shouldn't come as a surprise then, that I love TV shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Game of Thrones, as well as games like The Witcher and The Last of Us. Avatar especially holds a special place in my heart for its in my opinion perfect characters and abilitity to entertain me no matter how many times I watch it. Currently especially in love with: Stranger Things, Dark (Netflix), God of War (2018), Percy Jackson and the Olympians Strengths (I think): humorous and melancholic writing, respectively planning a story to the end (it's just getting there that's the hard part) Weaknesses (more certain about those): Getting sidetracked easily; probably focussing on too many things/stories/books at a time Romance. Seriously, can't write it for the life of me. Interesting stuff starts here. Quick list of Stories that I cannot recommend enough: 1. Bring Me All Your Elderly! , by RainAndRoses (Avatar). Probably the funniest stuff I have ever read, and possibly the only good thing to come out of that 'The Last Airbender' movie. 2. The Avatar's Love, by the same author (Avatar). If you like Aang and Katara, this is the best; most heart-breaking; well-written... I could add a few more adjectives, but you get the idea. And even if you don't like them, take a look anyway. It's literally novel-length, but never gets stale for a single chapter. Oh, and the two main-antagonists are Koh the Face Stealer - and probably the most frightening version of Azula I have ever seen. The only downside is that the author abandoned it and it's incomplete. But even then, you can read up until about Chapter 44 and still get an amazing story with a good resolution. And if you don't cry at least once, especially at that ending - well, you must be made of stone. 3. Listless Afternoons, by breeeliss (Avatar). For those who ship Aang and Toph; this might be one of the most mature stories out there. The author has a bunch more of the like; this is just the story that I personally liked the most. 4. Before the Fall, by IronArmy (Dark Souls). If you're looking for a story of Gwyn and his Knights before they fell into ruin, this is the story for you. It's so well-written and in-depth that it's practically become my all-time head-canon. 5. A Hope to Cling to, by MidnightEverlark (Stranger Things). First off: This is a WillxMike story. But even if you're not into that; go and read it anyway. Because secondly: This author. Oh my God. Where do I start? She's amazing. Specializes in Hunger Games and Stranger Things stories. Easily among the best and most consistent writing I've seen on this site. This story is my personal favourite, and the one that got me into reading fanfiction again, but far from the only gem you can find over there. Go and have a look. 6. Will Wonders Ever Cease?, by quasimon (Stranger Things). This one is over on AO3. And it's my favourite Will Byers story (kinda tied with the one above, maybe). Mature, funny, and written with a grasp of the characters; it's a great character-piece and continuation of the series. And finally, just a few things about writing here: 1) Yes, it's probably a waste of precious time, seeing how none of this will ever get published, but as long as I have ideas, I'll write them down, damn it. If a few other people like it, even better. 2) I can't promise to finish every story I start, since ideas just stop coming sometimes. Should that happen, I'll put up a notice and invite anyone who's interested to continue the writing. 3) Reviews are the bread and butter, at least for me. Whether criticism, praise, or just your thoughts on what you read; it's always good to know someone reads this and thinks about it. That said, constructive criticism is always the most helpful, as I'm not a native English speaker and thus keen on improving in any way I can. 4) Same goes for requests for stories, ideas for collaborations, or if you just want something proof-read: Just send a PM. I'm not here 24/7, but I'll happily exchange ideas, that's what this site is for, after all. Inspiration is seldom found in solitude; I find the best ideas usually come from interactions. That's about it, I think. Bless you, have fun and machts gut everybody. "Stories are just memories that we have forgotten. Maybe some of them become songs." |
