When he was finally worried about engines, year 1900: 32
When he built Thomas, year 1907: 39

How old he appears: 35-41
Looks: short red hair, blue eyes, pale skin
Height: 6'2"
Likes: his son Thomas, his friend Tanner, fall(the season), lavender(the flower), studying steam engines
Dislikes: the thought of losing Thomas, any engine hurt or in pain, having to think about romantic relationships
What made him create Thomas: he read in the newspaper many articles of engines being mistreated, and it hurt him. So, he decided to build his own engine to let the engine see how it felt to be treated kindly and fairly from the start.
Notes: I altered Thomas' history a bit for this to work. Instead of him being built in 1915, he’s going to be built in 1907

In my humanised universe, William adopted Thomas from an orphanage when he was 7 and raised him as his son
