I've been a beta for about a decade now (PI Accredited . . . back when that fantastic site still existed, at least!), so I have beta'd many stories for quite a few authors. I prefer to exchange e-mails and then use Track Changes for my betaing. But we could also use changes over PM, with me commenting in brackets, if you prefer. I critique all aspects of your story: both content (characters, plot, etc) and form (spelling, grammar, sentence structure, etc). I also record my general comments/reactions to different scenes so you can get an idea of how at least one reader reacts to your fic. I'm always happy to talk with you about any aspect of your story, as well as send the chapter back and forth several times as you revise and edit various parts.

I expect you to have at least a basic grasp of how to write. You should know, for example, that a period comes after every sentence, or to capitalize character names. I don't mean to sound haughty or cruel . . . I just don't have the patience or the time to entirely reformat someone else's writings.

I have a good grasp of story elements: plot, characterization, past/present tense, perspective, that sort of thing. I am also confident with my grammar and commonly confused words (e.g. your/you're, they're/there/their, etc).

Spelling. I truly cannot spell to save my life. I do, however, have a spellcheck. ;]

In terms of my own writing, I have many things I would like to improve upon. Poetry, action scenes, and descriptions, to name a few. But these things shouldn't impair my ability to beta your fic.

And, of course, I am only human. Though I would like to believe that I never make mistakes, I do. I may not catch everything in your story. But I will always read the story at least twice, and I will always do my best.

I will beta for any of the fandoms that I have listed. As for genres, I'm open to anything. Romance is my favorite, as anyone who has browsed my own writings will know. But I really do love all genres, hybrids of different genres, etc. Surprise me.

I do not beta poetry, as I am generally horrendous in that area. I also am not a fan of incest. Apart from that . . . bring it on!
