Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I like to put my best with being a BETA. Your BETA reader is someone you are supposed to be able to trust, and although I may not be perfect, I'll do my utmost job to make sure your story is at its best before its posted for everyone to see. I am an aspiring writer and I try to learn from everything I read here, and I take posting stories online here seriously, so I expect my client to be serious about what they are writing. I do not have a problem being blunt with you if I see a problem in your writing, or if I notice anything strange about your style and I feel the need to question it, so you will never have to worry about me "being light" about checking your story. However, all my decisions end up going back to you, and if you do not choose to use them, that is acceptable too. As a BETA, my only job is to give suggestions to improve your story, and although it may go against my nature, I will try not to divulge into your story too much. I If you decide to choose me to BETA, please fill me in on what you imagine your story to be like, so I can help you shape it to be as close as your initial idea followed it. Unlike most, I encourage you to get an idea and then just write it out, because my job is to save you when you write yourself into a corner, and I am very good at helping you push your chapter stories along, or even help you write some to get you moving again, my job is to be there when you need it as a BETA, right? |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Unlike most, I am probably better at telling you whether a semi-colon or a comma is necessary in a sentence. I'm a grammar-hawk, and I do pretty well with spelling too. Contradicting sentences or sentences that don't make any sense are easily caught by me, so if your story may need some trimming in that area, I am a good person to come to. Also, I am very strict about the time-frame in which I check the story and then return it to you, just tell me when you expect it to be completed and I'll try to make that date, or tell you if I can't, as I am a student myself. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Plot contradictions or mistakes. I will try hard to research any part of your story that involves real-life situations, but I probably might not be able to tell you that half-way into the story you've made plot errors. And on a side note, I'm not very good helping to write or edit any lemons, either. They make me nervous, and I'm not experienced much with them. I can check for consistency, but please don't expect me to fill in some spots for you. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer anime. I will only BETA anime/manga stories. I prefer yaoi/yuri/het/incest, pretty much anything. I also enjoy vampire fics, AU, tragedy/angst fics, and will BETA for them. I know many BETAs do not enjoy reading it, but if well-written, I enjoy it very much. I also do not mind e-chat stories, as long as it isn't a crack fic and is part of the plot somehow. And maybe this wasn't clear enough, but the only language I speak is English. Please don't offer me jobs for stories in other languages, or poorly translated fanfics. I will not BETA for you in either situation. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
If English is not your first language, I cannot help you edit that story, it takes too much time and a well-verse in the language that I simply do not possess as of right now, sorry. & I WILL NOT BETA any stories that involve Mpreg. Only anime/manga stories. NO STORIES INCLUDING CHARACTER BASHING. It's rude, pointless, and immature. And that goes for crack-fics. They're never funny, and I don't enjoy them. Also, no rape. :/ That's just wrong, but if its just partial-rape and only implied or flashback worthy rape, then it's fine too. |
