This is my first time as a beta reader but I am used to giving critique to people on stories. If I were to ever beta read someone's story, then I would do so as promptly as I can, taking into account elements like characterisation or whether the writing reads smoothly or if the story seems interesting or is a bit of a drag to read, and give them my opinion on which things I think are good and which things might need a bit of editing, and how I think the editing should be done (of course, I respect the fact that the final decision is up to the writer!). I would also help on technicalities like keeping an eye out for plot holes and things like grammar and spelling and punctuation, as I have a good grasp of the English language, and I am willing to even just proof-read stories if that is what the writer wants. I am willing to read rather long fanfictions, but please split them up into chapters! And just basic standards of writing are good! You know, make an effort to keep your spelling and grammar and punctuation correct (don't just leave it ALL up to me!) and do the whole "showing not telling" and basically... just make sure you have some experience at writing first! If you enjoyed writing your story, that's probably a sign that it's good. :)

Uhm... well... I'm good at spelling and grammar and punctuation (ahaha ^ ^; ) but I'm generally good at spotting inconsistencies with characterisation and helping with fiddly bits of stories, say if the writer needs to work out a satisfying end to the chapter, I can help with that.

I'm not very good with romance stories, or very long ones. I mean, you can send them anyway, but I might not be much help. D: Also, I'm a little paranoid about Mary-Sues. Everytime I see that an "OC" is in a story, it sets off a little alarm bell in my head, so I struggle to be impartial towards OC characters. For example, your OC may be balanced and realistic, but through my paranoid vision I might see a Mary-Sue! Yeah, I know, sorry, it comes from having read fanfiction over the years. D:

Ones with my favourite pairings and characters, MUWAHAHAHAHA. Ahem. And with my favourite manga/animes such as Black Butler or Loveless. I'll probably put something up on my profile of what my what favourite fanfiction categories and favourite pairings and characters are. ...That's actually it. But of course, it doesn't have to be in those categories or have those pairings or whatever. As long as it's in a category I know, I'll read it!

I am not willing to read stories that are excessively gory or... other... M-rated themes. Ahem. Also, I am happy to read stories with OCs in them, but if your OC is a Mary-Sue I am just not reading it. ...Unless she's a really hilarious Mary-Sue. And I am not reading anything to do with weird pairings, when I say weird I mean things such as KakaSaku and stuff. I don't care if you change the ages, it's like, he has gray hair and she has pink hair and they just don't work. D:
