As a beta-reader, I prefer to work through a dialogue with the author, offering suggestions and comments as well as proof-reading edits, rather than simply receiving a document and handing back an edited version without any communication. I find that I can better assist if I have an idea of the intent behind the writing than simply having to read the document without any context.

I have an excellent vocabulary and a thorough grounding in a number of subjects to aid in specific details and minutia of editing. I am also a font of ideas for plot progression, many of which seem to differ from others in ways that, I at least, find interesting and dynamic. If anything, I find I suffer from an over-abundance of ideas rather than a dearth of them.

My grasp of grammar is not quite perfect, if you are struggling with the most complicated minutia of grammatical structures I will most likely not be of much assistance. I am perfectly capable of adequate grammar, but if you are searching for someone to help craft your story into a grammatically-perfect work of art where each sentence brings tears to the eyes of Grammar-Nazis everywhere, then I'm probably not the man to ask.

I would prefer to beta stories in a fandom that I am familiar with; such as Harry Potter, Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings. If you're writing about something that I haven't listed, please feel free to send me a message and ask if I'm familiar with the source material. I would also prefer to beta stories that are already fairly sophisticated, I would rather not work on a story where I have to rewrite each chapter practically from scratch in order to make it intelligible.

I do not wish to beta-read stories that I am wholly unfamiliar with the source material for, as I believe I would be unable to properly contribute to them. I'd also prefer to steer clear of stories with uninteresting Mary-Sue type characters, which is not to say that over-powered characters. One Punch Man alone proves that a character can be over-powered without becoming a Mary-Sue.
