I don't really have a huge preference of what I'm reading. I'll beta-read almost anything, but the only thing that'll annoy me is if YOU don't take advice without a legitimate reason. I mean, I know I'm not always right, but if you're not gonna take advice because you're too lazy, then honestly, screw you, and never bug me again. So really - as long as you're willing to learn, or at least have a mind of your own (a.k.a: you won't take totally stupid advice...), then I'll gladly beta-read for you. Oh, and if you expect me to reply to you the next day... then I'm sorry, but I do kinda have a life, and I get pretty busy at times. I'll try to get back at you ASAP, but don't think that I hate you if you don't get something back immediately...
I can get pretty picky at times, so if you don't like reading huge replies (especially to your first chapters!), then I'm probably not for you either. And I try not to sound discouraging when I'm giving advice, so I'm really sorry if I ever do. I always give good points and bad points, and I'll never say, "You suck" without a reason. But if your story is truly bad, I can get pretty ticked off so I might go and start ranting. Then again, if it's really good, I'll start ranting as well XD
What else, what else... oh, I tend to set the bar for people's writing really high... even amateur writers (including myself!) I'll probably start comparing your writing to professional writers once you get REALLY good (actually, even when you aren't really good, I'll probably still compare you to professionals... just not as much as if you were an amazing writer), so I guess what I'm basically saying is that it takes a lot to please me. Even if you have the whole story already written out, if it's not going to work out, I'll have you erase it. All. Even if you're crying and begging on your hands and knees. Sorry about that...
I won't fix the whole thing for you either. By that, I mean, I'll never add things for you, I'll never fix your grammar for you, and I won't fix your spelling for you. I'll TELL you if I see anything you can fix, but I won't do it FOR you. I just do the pointing and finding XD If it's only a little bit, then I'll probably just do it unconciously.
And one more thing - I'll tend to try to make your story something that everyone can read. If it's something really unique (exceptionally hard language, different formatting, etc. etc.) I'll try to tweak it into something a lot of people will enjoy, so if you're just aiming for one type of reader, then I'll try my best to change my view and beta-read it for you, but there's tons of people who are probably better than me at beta-reading for you.
